Making My Money Work For Me

My dad used to say that there are three kinds of people:

  1. those who don’t work,
  2. those who work for their money, and
  3. those who make their money work for them.

 

I have always kept that in mind and over the years I have had to work for my money. I plan on working for at least another 10 r even 20 years yet. But I know at some point I will want to retire, and that is when I need the money in my IRA Accounts to start working for me.

When I was a kid, my dad had a list of professionals that he could call on to help him. He had a lawyer, he had an accountant, he had a banker and a stock broker. But now we can do Online Trading and don’t really need a stock broker to handle our investments.

For the times that we do want to talk to someone or get a professional opinion, we can still get online and talk with an Online Broker. With so much information available online, no one has the excuse of not knowing what they are doing when it comes to the stock market. All you have to do is read and ask questions, and then get serious about taking responsibility for managing your money.

Moving to a new place

My family just moved to a new area and we haven’t yet found a church. We had a great church family at our old place but since Easter’s coming up really soon we decided we needed to get on the search and the only thing we could think to do is look online. We’re going to try out the place up the street from our house this Sunday and if we like it, that’s where we’ll be having our Easter service! I can’t believe we’re settling in so well here and that we’ve yet to find a church home but I’m really crossing our fingers that this new place is going to feel as much like home as the old church. Moving is hard, but this has been harder!

Family Time

Easter dinner was delicious, of course, and it was especially nice because we were able to spend time with my cousin and her family from Southern Maryland. This is a long way for them to drive and we weren’t sure they would come this far for dinner, so I was glad to see them walk in the door around 1:00 pm.

While the women fussed in the kitchen, some of us guys got around to talking about computers and the internet. I was talking to my cousin’s husband about creating a family blog so we could all keep better informed. He was very interested in learning about getting a family domain name and signing up for website hosting to get the blog started.

I use my computer every day. There are so many things I do on a daily basis like checking my E-Mails, looking at the news, and storing my pictures. iPhones

There was good news for the giant phone company Verizon Wireless today. The company started selling the iPhone and they have done very well. The company sold so many of the phones that it had to halt sales until their supply could reach demand. They plan to resume sales soon.

The Apple iPhones have been very popular with consumers. People love the phones and have been snapping them up. There have been some questions about the ability of Verizon to handle the increased capacity to run the phones but the company says the impact of will be minimal.

Keeping Busy

One thing that really made the internet was the ability for people to play games. There are so many to choose from and there are many that are free and fun. I like that a lot and so does my son and daughter. One game that my son really likes to play is called boxhead 2. He can usually be found playing the game with his friends in his room. They love the game and play it all the time.

I must admit that my son does branch out from time to time and he and his friends can be found playing a game called age of war. They all like that game as well and spend many hours playing it. It can be hard for me to get him to do his homework, but as long as he keeps his grades up I don’t mind. My daughter spends time on the internet herself and I’ll tell you about that.

One thing my daughter is interested in is making money. She babysits whenever she can so she can have money to spend on the clothes she wants. Another thing she does is called blogging for money. She makes a few extra bucks each week doing that. I ma not sure what it is exactly, but she likes to do it and I think that’s great. I’m just glad my kids keep busy doing things they like to do!
