This Dinosaur Has Big Teeth!

My nephew playing at the dinosaur show on the T-Rex exhibit, impressed with the size of the dinosaur teeth. The dinosaur show was only in town for two weekends – I am glad we got to go – my nephew really liked the exhibits. He especially like the T-Rex, although I am partial to the Raptors.

His mother likes the Brontosaurus. I have no idea why, although that might explain her attraction to fat men. The last three guys she has dated have all been, shall we say, large.

Fun Game: Plants vs Zombies

So my little nephew likes to play video games, but he is only 5 years old and can’t really handle most of the good video games that I like to play. He can barely handle the controller or make decisions quick enough to survive any levels of the games like Call of Duty or Drakes Landing. We’ve got a Playstation 3 and a whole collection of games, but the funny thing is that he likes a game that I downloaded onto my PC.

Somehow I stumbled onto a game called Plants vs Zombies and my nephew really likes this game. It has different types of mini-games and puzzles within the main game, and you can play it over and over again without advancing to a harder level if you want to stay on the easy ones.

The main idea is that you get a large grid of squares that will hold a plant that fights zombies. The zombies come staggering from the right, across the rows, trying to get into your house and eat your brains. You defend your house by planting the right plants in the way of the zombies. If you mess up, the zombie gets in your house and that level is over. You have to successfully defend your house at each level or replay the level until you succeed.

As you advance to the harder levels, you are given more plants to work with, and you have different types of plants for daylight fighting, night time fighting, and other scenarios. I like this game, too. And my nephew likes to watch me play the harder levels that he can’t handle yet. He coaches and criticizes all my plays – funny as hell.

Chilly Sunday

Well if this crazy weather doesn’t give everyone pneumonia, nothing will.  I was running around the yard getting up the last of the leaves in nothing but a pair of jeans and a t-shirt yesterday and it’s down right chilly today.  I guess I shouldn’t complain since the weather cooperated so well yesterday.

The bad thing is there are people everywhere with the flu.  I have been trying to avoid anyone with the sniffles because the last thing I need is the flu but if the weather keeps flip-flopping like it has been, there’s going to be a lot more sick people to try to avoid.  Hopefully one of those won’t be me or anyone close to me either.  I don’t have time to be sick.

I have started taking extra vitamin C and vitamin D.  Everyone is saying that will help boost your immune system.  I usually take about 1000 units of vitamin C every day through the winter and drop that down to 500 units other times.  I’m usually pretty darn healthy too.  Now watch me get sick since I said that!!!  I better not.

Puppies

My neighbor has a beautiful pair of German Shepherds.  Well a couple of weeks ago, they had puppies.  One thing I do like about my neighbors and the way they are with their dogs is they only have one litter of puppies a year.  That way, the mother and puppies are healthier.  Oh and she is very careful with who buys her puppies.

She makes sure that the new owners know about the breed of dog first of all and are aware of the cost associated with raising a large breed dog.  The sire of the puppies is attack trained but I have never seen a more gentle dog unless he thinks someone doesn’t belong around there.  Then he’s all business.  I have seen him out playing with her 2 year old grand daughter and he is just as gentle and easy with that little girl as you would ever want.  What amazing animals German Shepherds are.

Arizona homes

Have you ever been to Arizona?  Man is it beautiful out there or what?  I have some family out there and always look forward to going for a visit every so often.  Not often enough in all reality but at least I do get to visit.  One of my cousins lives in Scottsdale and another in Phoenix.  I would have a heck of a time choosing between both areas should I decide to move out there.

My cousin that lives in Phoenix is thinking about building a new home for themselves or maybe even remodeling their existing home.  The house they live in is kinda small and with their children getting older, they really need some more room.  They asked a lot of people in their area if they could or would recommend any Phoenix new home builders .  Seems there were a lot of people that had a lot of opinions but one came up for than all of the rest.

It’s nice when you can get first hand recommendations from people that have used a particular company or builder as it is in this case.  You can’t always trust advertisements but you can trust word of mouth.  That’s the same thing my cousin in Scottsdale did.   They definitely want to do some remodeling.

The first thing they did is looked online for Scottsdale home builders.  They sent me the link because they knew I was doing some remodeling of my own.  Trust me, I’m not even in their class.  Talk about some beautiful jobs, they are amazing.

They finally made their choice of a Scottsdale home builder and I can’t wait to visit next summer to see what they came up with.  I’m sure it’s going to be impressive.  Might make me want to move out there even more.  I just love the designs of the homes out there since they seem to blend in so well with the environment.

Happy Birthday Dad

My father is 82 years old today.  It amazes me to stop and think of all of the things he has seen in his lifetime.  I remember when cable TV first came out and my Dad swore that he would not pay for TV when there is free TV that we all have looked at for the past 50 years.  Well that changed.  He loves his satellite TV now.

Cell phones?  He hated the house phone because it rang all of the time and doesn’t feel any better about cell phones.  “Why is the world would anyone want to walk around with a telephone in their ear” was one of his favorite sayings until Mom got a cell phone.  Yup, there sure have been a lot of changes in his life.

Bee stings

It’s been a long time since I have been stung by a bee and I had forgotten just how much bee stings can hurt.  I was mowing yesterday and out of nowhere this bee came and stung me right on the back of my hand.  It hit me fast and I didn’t even get to see what type of bee it was either.

So here I go inside whimpering like a kid or something about how bad it hurt.  Did you know that meat tenderizer mixed with a little water makes a great bee sting remedy?  I sure didn’t.  Rachel mixed some and put it on the sting with a bandage and before I knew it, the stinging was gone.  Barely left a mark on my hand either.  Try it next time you get stung.

Fish tanks

A friend of mine was moving and decided that he did not have room for the fish tank he had. I was a little hesitant at first but after some thinking I decided to take the tank off his hands. The tank was a 55 gallon one and came with two fish. I knew it would be a lot of work but I was ready for the challenge.

After a fair amount of work, we got the tank set up in our home. It sits in a prominent place in our living room. The tank is beautiful and is a wonderful addition to our home. We have added some fish to the tank and it has really brought our family together.

Fireworks

As usual, we went out to see the fireworks display this year. I was glad that all the family could attend. It was nice to have the family together as we watched the fireworks display in all its glory. We celebrated the birth of our country together.

The show lasted about forty-five minutes and was worth all the trouble. The beach was packed with people who were trying to see the show like we were. We found a great spot to observe the show and were satisfied with the results. It was a fun night together and I hope to do it again next year.

Neighbors new dog

Our neighbor came home with a new dog they got from the animal shelter.  They had been talking about getting a dog for some time.  Well believe it or not but they chose a Pit Bull.  Some people have a thing against them but it’s not the breed, it’s the owners that make them mean.

This dog is 10 months old and about as gentle as I have ever seen.  In fact, I bet he would lick you to death before he ever thought about biting anyone or anything.  They already had a cat and Bubba, as they call him, thinks Tabby is his new best friend.  Tabby on the other hand, it’s quite sure what to make of this goofy thing that bounces up and down while trying to play.

I don’t know about you but I think it’s awesome that they chose to rescue a dog instead of buying a puppy.
