Where’s the Beef?

I think that just about everyone has visited the Taco Bell chain from time to time. I know I’ve had my share of tacos and hot sauce over the years. There are some though who believe that Taco Bell is not playing fair with the public. A lawsuit has been filed contending that there is not enough beef in each taco for taco bell to call it a beef taco.

A law firm is suing taco Bell and asking for damages and compensation in a California court. Taco bell has answered the charges by going to the public with newspaper ads saying their tacos are made of 88% beef, the rest being spices and fillers. All I know is that their tacos are good whatever they are made of!!

Helping the Economy

I believe that this year will be the year that the economy recovers and business will start booming again. I know many people who feel the same way and are preparing to jump into the various markets there are. One of my good friends at work is starting a small shop selling fishing tackle. He hopes to sell the lures and other gear that fishermen need. He has a great location and is on track to really make a go at sales.

One problem that he has is a lack of knowledge about things financial. He is not really comfortable with knowing he will have to deal with accepting credit cards and checks. The thing about that is you have to do it if you want to compete in today’s business world. I thought I could help and mentioned that he could get a credit card merchant account easily online. This would help take the hassle out of dealing with issues like this.

While he was a little intimidated by the idea at first, he soon warmed up to it as he found out more about it. It wasn’t long before he had a merchant account application filled out and ready to go. I think his business will do well and I hope there are thousands of others out there with the same intentions. The economy is sure to get better and I hope everyone will help make it happen.

Plastic

One thing that Americans can’t seem to live without is their credit cards. I use mine nearly every day and it has become my favorite way to pay my bills. I use it at the grocery, the gas station, and the haircutters. The problem has been that many Americans get in trouble when they overspend and that can cause a lot of headaches.

The latest good news is that many credit card users are once again paying their bills on time. This is a reflection of the improving economy and the jobs that are being created. Consumer awareness has also improved as well as new financial rules that are helping to protect users. This is all good news to me and the thousands of other credit card users.

Big Events

The thing that I really like about my family is that everyone is very adventurous. My son and my daughter as well as my wife like to try new things all the time. They are not as picky as some people are and will do things just because they can. That’s why I don’t mind ordering tickets to events that I would like to go to. I know they will all agree to try whatever items I present.

One of my latest inklings has been to see the circus again. I remember as a kid going to the circus and I wanted my kids to have the same memories as well. I ordered Ringling Brothers Circus Tickets online and we all had a great time. I love to see the elephants do their thing and the clowns were especially good. I was glad I went and had the chance to see my kids enjoy the show.

I have some other trips planned and both of them will be wonderful I believe. One is the Kyle Field Tickets I have and the others are the Cowboys Stadium Tickets that a friend of mine gave to me. I am sure 5that both of these events will be awesome and I hope my family enjoys them as well. I look forward to going to additional events in the future. It will all be great I’m sure and I hope everyone can take their families as well.

Cricket Virus

I read an interesting story today about a new cricket virus that has killed millions of crickets that are raised and used for pet shop animals. The virus started in Europe and has finally reached the United States. It has caused some cricket growers to go out of business.

There are many cricket farms in the south and some are in real trouble. New sanitary measures must be taken to ensure the crickets are not exposed to the virus. This has been costly and time-consuming. The problem will be overcome but it has reminded us that food supplies of all types must be kept safe.

Food shortage in the U.S.?

The weather did not co-operate with farmers this year and the result was devastating to the yields of many crops such as Corn, Grain, and soybeans. This has led to a shortage for many of these staples and prices are expected to rise sharply. Some companies are already raising prices of their goods as a result.

While many experts believe this will not result in a food shortage in the U.S., some believe that poorer countries will feel the pain. Many countries rely on U.S. farm goods and the higher prices will strain these countries to the limit. I hope that there are some other countries that can fill the food gap that has been created.

Keeping Busy

One thing that really made the internet was the ability for people to play games. There are so many to choose from and there are many that are free and fun. I like that a lot and so does my son and daughter. One game that my son really likes to play is called boxhead 2. He can usually be found playing the game with his friends in his room. They love the game and play it all the time.

I must admit that my son does branch out from time to time and he and his friends can be found playing a game called age of war. They all like that game as well and spend many hours playing it. It can be hard for me to get him to do his homework, but as long as he keeps his grades up I don’t mind. My daughter spends time on the internet herself and I’ll tell you about that.

One thing my daughter is interested in is making money. She babysits whenever she can so she can have money to spend on the clothes she wants. Another thing she does is called blogging for money. She makes a few extra bucks each week doing that. I ma not sure what it is exactly, but she likes to do it and I think that’s great. I’m just glad my kids keep busy doing things they like to do!

The hobbits

The Lord of the Rings trilogy has been a huge success. The three part series has had movie goers flocking to the theater for the last several years. The only question was what was next for the director Peter Jackson and the continuation of the last part of the story that includes the story of “The Hobbit’.

The good news is that several of the actors from the original series have agreed to work on the latest film. This will mean that the story will go on with the same actors as before. I am sure the newest addition to the series will be a success and the legacy of J.R.R Tolkien will live on.

Christmas Time in Hollis Queens

Okay, so I’m not from Queens. In fact, I’m not even from New York, in the traditional sense. I live upstate. Weird, I know. Sometimes I ask myself why. But I try to avoid that question.

Anyway it’s the holiday season in New York and that only means one thing: basketball. More to the point, New York Knicks fans have already recieved the gift they’ve asking for for years – – – hope. The Knicks are on a seven game winning streak.. But there is, I suppose, one more gift to be asked from friends, family, strangers, really anyone in proximity.

Tickets.

Madison Square Garden is the best venue in the world. Granted I’m biased, but nothing matches the energy of the Garden. Oh how I have longed for the days when I could wear my apparell at the garden with pride. I remember when I was a kid, living in, you guessed in Queens (Forest Hills). My father and I would leave early, he’d set the home security alarm (Adt security online offer) and say something truly touching like, “you can never be too careful in this god forsaken town.” Then we’d run to our local bakery, he’d have coffee and I’d scarf down a black and white cookie. “Maybe Santa will give us a win,” he’d say.

Unemployment

One thing that has not been good for workers over the last year is the fact that companies are not hiring like they used to. This has meant that many people are not receiving the money they are worth. Several businesses have been able to downgrade the pay that people would expect to receive for the jobs they do.

The only hope for many of these people is that the job market will improve and good workers will soon be back in demand. This will mean higher wages for the workers with special skills. I hope this comes true very soon!
