Animals and Oil

As the oil continues to pollute the Gulf of Mexico, scientists are seeing some surprising animal behavior. The animals are fleeing the oil and coming in close to the shore. This is unusual as they are not known to leave their natural habitats easily. It may lead to further problems scientists say.

One problem could be that the fish gathering in large numbers could deplete the natural oxygen levels. This will cause a massive die-off if some of the animals don’t leave the area. Another problem is that it will be easy for predators to pick off fish and mammals in shallow water. The best solution would be that the spill is stopped so that the healing process can begin.
