Allergy season is upon us

The past few couple of weeks I have been hearing a lot of sneezing going on, here at home, at the mall, at the grocery store and of course at the hospital, where we spent so much time at last week.  Every single person was complaining that their allergies were kicking in, tis the season.

My youngest has had allergies for several years and gets an allergy shot once a month and takes a small little pill once a day and it seems to be working rather well.  I took her off of the pill for a few months during the winter, but I think we need to start her back up again so that she doesn’t start up like everyone else around is.

Yesterday was a beautiful day, it made it to the 70’s and today is supposed be the just as nice.  I hope we are done with the snow and freezing temperatures once and for all.  I am itching to get outside and start working on the yard and the gardens, and boy do they need work – it was a hard winter on our yard this year – lots of strong winds made it worse.

Jitters

This morning I had gone to the little gas station down the street from my house, and purchased a drink called Monster thinking it was just to boost you up a little bit for the day ahead.

Well after about 5 hours after drinking it, I had experienced jittery bursts out of no where, and I couldn’t stop thinking about everything at the quick speed it was going. I got so ahead of myself that I dropped hot coffee all over my white blouse that I had on.

Now I’m worn out and I feel like I ran 8 miles with no break, about to pass out. Be aware of these drinks – they cant be too healthy for you.

I’ve never had any problem with caffeine before, but now that I am more aware of how it can affect me, I’ll read the labels of all those energy drinks and maybe only drink half of it at a time.

Cheer Goodies

Dance Clothes and Cheer clothes seem to go hand in hand. Our youngest daughter has been a cheerleader for several years now and we are always looking for the newest fashions that come up for cheer leading.

This is a sport that is getting very popular, just 5 years ago you couldn’t find much of anything, but since every year it gets more popular so there are more and more merchants producing products to sell for the participates that love new fashions and all of the goodies too.

She has her room all decorated in cheer leading style which really looks cool her friends really like it (she does also) and we are always looking for new stuff to help decorate it with so I found a new web-site the other day and it has some neat stuff for us to check out together, cool.

I hate laundry

One of things that I really wanted in a house, when we were house hunting nine years ago and found the house that we are now in, I didn’t get and it makes my life so hard that it drives me crazy.  I mean I got the fireplace, the two car garage, red brick, basement, decent yard, and all of that good stuff, but I didn’t get a laundry shoot.  The house that I grew up in had one and I never appreciated it for what it was really worth.

The washer and dryer are both down in the basement and that really sucks also.  I hate walking up and down the steps all the time with my hands always so full of dirty laundry, detergents, softners and everything else that I end up having to carry down there.  Oh yeah, and the deep freezer is down there also, I hate it, not the freezer – I love that, I just hate the awful stairs that I must use to get to it all the time.

We have an upstairs also, when we first moved in, Hubby and I claimed the bedroom and bathroom up on the 2nd level, but after two years of running up and down those blasted stairs about killed me.  The oldest daughter now has run of the upper level and I try not to have to go up, I guess I end up going up there about once a week or so and that is it.

Hot Flashes Suck

I have been dealing with menopausal symptoms for years now and the hot flashes and the night sweats are driving right up the wall. My sleep has been greatly disturbed by this horrible condition and the doctors have tried so many types of sleeping pills, but none so far have done the job. A few have really knocked me out, but the next day is Hell and I can’t deal with that very often – that is for sure.

How Romantic Is This

My husband had planned out the most romantic celebration for our 20th anniversary two days ago, and I will never forget it for as long as I live. He called me at work early in the day and had told me that he loved me and couldn’t wait to see me later that day and of course it made my heart melt.

When I had came home, I walked into the door and there laid a beautiful cocktail dress he had wrapped up in pretty paper and gorgeous bow ties. It had a note on it telling me to change into it and meet him at a beauty parlor. So I had gotten dressed and went on my way to the beauty parlor where three girls were waiting outside with a sign up with my first name on it. I had walked up to them telling them I was Darlene and they had said “Lets get to work!”

They took me inside to where it was set up for a complete make over, which I have always wanted and they got to work on me. I was so excited to have a make over done, I mean what women wouldn’t be? After 2 hours of primping, they had put me in front of a huge mirror to where I could see the results. I was so shocked on how much of a great job these girls have done, I gave them a big hug and had thanked them, and they had relayed me a message from my husband telling me to go outside where a limo was waiting for me to take me to him.

We pulled up to a extraordinary and beautiful hotel where another woman was outside waiting for me to take me to a room. Well the room as soon as I came in, I had noticed over hundreds of rose petals scattered through out the room along with dozens of white candles every where lit up. My husband was waiting at the bar with a bottle of champagne and strawberries, which are my favorite, and had serenaded me for the rest of the evening. It was like a dream, and I loved every moment of it.

My Poor Old Couch

One of my concerns with all of the critters that have been brought into our home, is keeping the furniture, the carpet and actually the whole darned house clean. Considering that I am the only one that does any of the house cleaning around here this whole burden is mine to deal with.

My poor old couch, I have had to have it cleaned so many types and I’ve taken the sofa cushions and given them a nice spraying of Fabreze and a few hours of hanging up outside in the fresh air, when possible. I am thinking that it won’t be much longer before we need to seriously consider purchasing a new sofa for the living room. Maybe something to think about when tax time comes around next April.

Internet Counseling – who would have thought

A co-worker that I have known for several years has been having troubles in her recent relationship even before they get married.  Their wedding date is scheduled to take place this autumn, which is really approaching quickly and now they are falling apart.  After numerous talks with her, I am glad to see that she is finally receiving some professional counseling, it just took me by surprise when she told me that she is doing on-line and on her lunch breaks.  That explains why we don’t see her too much around noontime anymore, bless her heart she has been in the other back room that has a PC set up so that employees may utilize it for their personal use, not the PCs at their work stations.

It seems that she is trying to get her finance into some counseling also, that has become a challenge, and not unusual, but in the mean time she is getting herself established with her counselor, Dr. Marty, while trying to keep the relationship from getting worse.

Now at our breaks, she talks to me a lot About Couples Counseling and how glad that she is doing the sessions on-line, and she assures me that the location of the counselor really isn’t important because they offer free-phone sessions also, so you can have the opportunity to speak to a human voice if when needed/wanted, that’s plus.

Dr. Marty has been a practicing therapist for over 30 years and does a variety of counseling, his web site is pretty impressive, www.yourmarriagecounselor.com and they are located in N.J. While they see patients in the office, they do a good amount on-line and via their toll free phone number.  So, Dr. Marty offers counseling sessions locally and across the country.

Personally I think all couples should receive premarital counseling, I know several couples that did and they are still married to this day.  Don’t care how long you have known each other and even if you have been living together, signing that legal piece of paper is a heavy responsibility that is so easy to get into and can be very troublesome getting out of.  Boy, I sound a bit like a preacher/mother, ugh!!!

Rest Room Rules

At our office, the restrooms are the kind of room where there is only one commode, and one sink, and when you go into the room you lock the door behind you. If you don’t lock the door behind you, you could be embarrassed if someone opens the door. No privacy stall or wall of any kind. I was taught that when a door is closed, you knock on the door before you open it, and wait a moment to see if anyone answers before you open the door.

Well, at our office it appears that no one else was taught that because everyone simply tries to open the door, without knocking first. I am always annoyed when I am in the restroom and I hear someone trying to turn the doorknob to come in, without knocking first. I think that is very rude! I always call out “just a minute” but I still think it is very rude!

Teenager Wants Contact Lenses

My teen doesn’t take care of herself, she is getting better, but responsibility isn’t one of her greatest features.

She was prescribed by our eye doctor a nice pair of glasses several years ago, and I swear I haven’t seen her ever wear them once.  They looked great at the doctor’s office but I guess they somehow turned “really ugly” on the way home from our visit!

She has been wanting contact lenses, the ones by acuvue oasys for some time now and I think we may need to be looking into it. I’ve done some researching on the Internet, of course, and have talked with some other parents who kids have them and after I speak with Hubby I guess I will need to call and make an appointment with the eye doctor, might as well get both kids checked, it has been a while.

I was referred to a company that has a web site Lens.com that helped me make up my mind.  I must say that contact lenses have come a long way since I gave them a try a few decades ago, mind you, so I basically had to start as a beginner.  Their web site was a big help, it was easier than I expected, really.

Daughter wants her lenses to be tinted of course, I was expecting that, but no problem, the cost didn’t scare me away from the idea.  They have ‘Novelty Lenses” called Wild Eyes that seem really awesome, Hubby would flip for sure.  Anyway they offer lenses from the leading top manufactures of lenses so I could check out a variety of them, some with offers of up to 70% off retail prices.

One of my issues with contacts was how dry they made my eyes feel, from what I read, it looks like they have tackled that issue, everything states how moist they are.  Dry eyes are a real bummer.

So after we visit the doctor I will get online and use this fast, easy way to get her the lenses.  We can place her order with them and track the order as it goes, I might even be eligible for a rebate (I love rebates).  If all goes well I will continue to re-order her lenses from them since I will already have an account with there.  Sounds good to me, I’ll let you know.
