I’m a new Postie!

A sibling of mine knew that I was struggling to make money because of  Hubby’s health issues that are keeping him from working.  I work a part-time job but the rest of the time I am needed at home to take care of him.

I love the computer so it made sense to us to be able to earn some money while staying at home where I was needed.

I had heard of the term”blog” but never really read one, much less written one, and I thought at first that I was getting in  a bit over my head.  After a week or so of daily posting it started coming a lot easier and I found that it was somehow stimulating my brain in a positive way.  Not being around other people where you can converse can make you feel very secluded from life, I mean you can only watch so much T.V. which can at times stimulate your brain, some good and some bad, ha ha!

I have also found that blogging can be therapeutic, it gives you a chance to vent without having to bend someones ear that really doesn’t give a hoot anyhow.

Lastly, I believe that it is giving me a challenge.  I need a healthy challenge right now, I mean don’t get me wrong – I have plenty of challenges on a daily basis, who doesn’t?

Please not another snow day….but we got oil!

We are having more snow and it is supossed to get really bad tonight, looks like tomorrow will be another snow day, but the oil delivery guy finally arrived this a.m. and we got plenty of heat now so we will be toasty warm all together, again.  At least Hubby will be out of the house by being kept busy at work with all the freezing pipes and all.  I’ll have to cook something nice up for him, he’ll be pretty well beat, I’m sure of that.  The kids and I will curl up by the fire, sipping our hot coco, and he’ll be sitting there with us, sipping on his beer!

We ran out of heating oil and it’s snowing outside

I hate it when that happens.  Didn’t notice that we were out until it was too late to call the oil company, so we are going to light up the fireplace, snuggle up some and watch movies while drinking some nice hot coco.

If it keeps snowing, they will close the schools in the morning, once again, and that will start cutting into the Spring Break vacation days, that would be a bummer.

Hubby says that there is a total eclipse of the moon tonight. We plan on looking outside around 8:45 through 10:00pm to see it.  The next one won’t be for two more years!

Homeowners confused by mortgages

I can totally understand why people would be confused now a days by all of the different kinds of mortgages that are being offered.  According to research that was done in the U.K., states that 2/3 of people claim that they would be confused and would find it extremely difficult to choose which mortgage would be best if they had to make their decision on it tomorrow.  This figure is somewhat alarming to me, but at the same time, it makes me feel as if I am not as stupid as I felt when I went through that same process 8 years ago.  Boy did I feel inadequate when we purchased our house and then once again when we refinanced a few years ago.  We muddled through but it was not what I would call a pleasant experience, but certainly worth it all in the end.

It seems the shaky economy is making homeowners from all around the world feel very uneasy about making the choice of which mortgage would be in their best interest.  Mortgage companies can be a bit intimidating but if the chance comes around in the near future that we would benefit from refinancing once again, I know this time that I will need to talk to a lot of people that I gratefully have access to – you know, a couple of friends and a few family members in the business. And I certainly would educate myself before even attempting to start talking with a lender.  And really now with the Internet we have all of that important information right at our fingertips and I would certainly make good use of it for such a huge investment such as home ownership.

The 5 cheapest places to rent in America

Saw this on the t.v. this a.m. and so I the found the article on it, I thought that this was an interesting finding and wanted to share the info with you.  According to NBC news:

The 5 cheapest places to rent in America are

  1. Wichita, Kan.  $470 a month
  2. Oklahoma City $490 a month
  3. Tulsa, Okla. $520 a month
  4. Knoxville, Tenn. $560 a month
  5. Dayton, Ohio $570 a month

I can only imagine what the most expensive areas are, I can honestly tell you that my neighborhood isn’t in any of them.

Judy’s U.K. trip is postponed

My girlfriend Judy has to postpone her trip to England to meet up with an old boyfriend, who is now very married and has 3 kids.  It seems that the family has being doing some work on their house and until most of it is done the wife really doesn’t desire any company, the main room being the bathroom.

Judy has been corresponding with this guy for a while now and they send a lot of pictures to each other via the Internet, lots of pictures of families and vacations, but he has been sending her pictures of the house while under reconstruction.  And of course she sends them all to me to drool over.  The house is gorgeous and the grounds around the place are marvelous to look at.

Fidel Castro Resigns as Cuba’s President

Fidel Castro stepped down Tuesday morning as the president of Cuba after a long illness. This announcement was made in a letter to the nation written by Castro and published early Tuesday morning on the Web site of Granma, the official publication of the Cuban Communist Party. His brother, Raúl will continue to rule, with the only change being his official title. Rather than being and “Interim President” he will now be “President.”

Fidel has been fighting his bad health over the past few years, so we knew that the end of Castro was getting nearer.  I just don’t know all of what effect this will have on his people, but I hope that it will be better than what he had to offer them.

Monday Night Wrestling for him & A Bubble Bath for me!

Monday nights are my night off because Hubby and our youngest are normally glued to the television watching their favorite wrestlers beat on each other.  I’m glad our son watches it with Hubby because if he didn’t that would mean that I would have to sit and try and watch it.  I’d rather be doing something else, thank you.

I am still trying to get in as much reading as I can, taking a nice hot buble bath late in the evening with a good book I have found, is a nice way to end the day, plus it makes it easier for me to ease off to sleep.  So on Monday evenings I can count on being able to do just that while the guys, in the living room keep up with all the drama going on with America’s newest wrestling pro’s.

And off I go…….

I miss Katie Couric

NBC has always been the station that I watch for the news and every a.m. I enjoy catching glimpses of the Today Show here and there, they are part of my extended family and I really miss Katie.

I could go on and on about her because she has so many great qualities that I admire, you gotta admit going on national t.v. and having a colonoscopy for all to see isn’t something that most people would do.

Most people won’t have one done even in the privacy of their own exam room.  What Katie did really brought attention to the importance of taking care of your colon and we should be grateful for it.  It is a growing concern for men and women.

Here at the mall is a vitamin shop that our teenager worked at for a short time and I got to know one of the ladies there pretty well.  She knew her stuff and was very helpful when I had the chance to talk with her.  I remember one conversation we had when that I was thinking of scheduling a colonoscopy for myself and my Hubby, and she told me some things about her experience with the procedure that were very interesting and helpful.

Survivor is back

Hubby and I have such different tastes in what we watch on the boob tube.  One of the very few shows that we both enjoy has been the Survivor series.  We have watched it since day one and still enjoy watching together when we can, and thank goodness for TIVO.

This season is different because it is pitting up a tribe consisting of regular people that are fans of the show against a tribe consisting of previous Survivor contestants from the past years.  Every season they find a way to change things around just enough so that it keeps things fresh and from becoming a bore.

A few years ago the kids and I were at a local parade and for some reason I was under the bleachers when I ran into “Tom” a Survivor contestant, a farmer from the southern part of Virginia, he was there because he was being featured in the parade, he was of course wearing his blue jean overalls and was very friendly, shook my hand, chatted a moment or two and went on his way, towards the back, probably to the Don’s Johns.

I know there are a lot of people that dislike the show but it has kept us entertained for several years and I hope that they can keep up the good work.
