Out to eat

I took my lovely wife out to eat last night and then for a couple of drinks and dancing. The restaurant was really good. We had Indian food which is very spicy, at a new place on the South side of town. Not having ever eaten Indian food before I only had a slight knowledge of what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. I knew that it would be spicy, but they gauge the spice factor for those not accustomed to it and that I didn’t know. I would have tried it years ago if I had but known that.

After dinner we went to a little place downtown that plays blues and jazz music for a romantic evening. We really enjoyed it and had a good time just talking like we used to before we married. That was the best part for me. I think sometimes people get so caught up in life that they forget to talk to their partner. Then when they have problems, they think that they have changed or drifted apart, when all they did was stop talking to each other. Not about everyday things, but the other stuff, like dreams and such. I hope that never happens to my wife and I.

Eat, Drink and be Thankful

thanksgiving

This was Google’s page last year for Thanksgiving and I thought it was very cool. so I saved it and want to share it now. It has all the elements of a happy Thanksgiving. Especially the pie on the “G.”

I hope you have a nice dinner with family or friends. Be thankful for your blessings, and save me a slice of pie!

Great Lunch

Had the chance to go to a different part of town today during the lunch hour. I took advantage of the time over there to get lunch at a deli that I used to go to once in a while. The deli is still there, and crowded as ever. You know its good food when people are lined up out of the door and don’t just skip over to a different place because they are willing to wait.

I ordered a muffaletta sandwich – it was a great taste and very satisfying. For only $6 I had enough food for two meals and it was delicious. I’ll look forward to going back soon.

Pringles

When did Pringles get so expensive? They used to be 75 cents for a tall can. I swear that’s what I paid for them last year when I stocked up for a party. Now they are $1.79 for the same size can. I really don’t think there was a disaster with potatoes. Maybe there was? I don’t know, but more than double the price in less than a year tells me something is very wrong. I still like them, but I guarantee that I will be eating less of the Pringles at this price.

Subs for Lunch

Trying to get out of the habit of buying a hamburger and fried for lunch so often. I seem to have them 4-5 times a week. That can’t be good for me, health wise, and it gets expensive, too. I am going to try to have a sub sandwich at least once a week and some kind of fish or salad on other days. Surely I can get back to a healthy diet and treat my heart better.

Free Subs at Jersey Mike’s

There are several good sub shop chains in this area. One of my favorites is the Jersey Mikes Chain. The have a counter guy sliced the deli meats in front of you while you order the food. I like the way they have all the popular dressings put together as “Mike’s Way.” That makes it easy to order the toppings and dressings like I want them.

Today Jersey Mike’s is doing a special give back to the community promotion where they are giving away free subs if you make at least a one dollar donation to the Nashville Predators. Community fund. That’s a bargain!

Burritos

There are bags of frozen burritos that are kept in the freezer section of the grocery stores that I love to buy and keep on hand. There is nothing better than a burrito that cooks up in less than two minutes and always tastes good. I like to put a little shredded cheese on top of the burrito during the last 15 seconds of cooking in the microwave. Then when I take it out, I drop a big spoonful of sour cream on top. This quick meal is a great fast lunch or late night snack, and it only costs about 50 cents.
