Judy’s Old Flame Turns Up In The UK

Longtime girlfriend seems to have found an old flame via the good old Facebook and is tossing around the idea of visiting him in the near future.  She is excited about it but it will be a long trip because he and his family live in the U.K. which is not just your usual “road trip”.

He has suggested using a travel agency that he has used in the past that offers flights, hotels & travel ideas worldwide. It seems that has lived in a variety of places since high school including way up north Canada way.  So he has used them in his many flights to Canada, and all over Europe.  He assures her that they will help her in her search for flights, hotels, car rentals, all that she will  need to make it a pleasant trip.

He is to send her the phone number so she can speak with one their UK travel consultants, when she finds out the details she will fill me in.  I hope she has a blast with a date from the past.

A Day at the Pool

Today was the perfect day to go to the pool. Everyone slept in a little late this morning. We didn’t get back from the fireworks until nearly midnight and everyone was wired up from all of the excitement of all of the wonderful displays that our local recreation center produced this year, in celebrating the 4th of July.

Once the house started waking up and everyone had fed their face with some type of nourishment from my fully stocked kitchen. I went shopping yesterday and spent a fortune on items to take with us to the show, things like beer, wine, wine coolers, sodas, Gatorade, bottled water, chips, dips, crackers, cookies, fruits, well you get the point. So the kitchen is now over flowing with munchies that should last all week-end long, maybe.

Anyway, we decided that today was the first nice day that we have had in a while so we packed up all of our swimming pool gear and took off for a day in the sun and water fun. It was great, fun was had by all, even Hubby came along this time, which is rare these days, and now I’m totally beat and sun burned and ready for bed.

By the way, a belated Happy Independence Day to America, may God Bless us all!

Want To Travel

Now that the kids are getting a bit older there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel and I am anxious to do the traveling that I’ve always wanted to do, while still including the kids, but not focusing the entire trip mainly on kiddie activities.

The Internet has really opened the doors for the general public to see what is out there, when it is and for what price – plus it has given many ways for us to tie up all of the loose ends that are involved in planning a trip.

My guess is that every family wants to go to Disneyland and stay at the Disneyland Anaheim hotel, which for us is a 3000 mile trip all the way across the U.S. from where we live. A long trip like that with my gang would normally require a lot of my time in researching and planning.

Since my parent live in Florida, years ago on one of our numerous visits with them down in the Sunshine State, that was when the kids were really very young, we all went to Disney World and wow it was an adventure!  Since my folks lived to close by it fell on their shoulders to handle all the planning/entertaining, now that’s the way to do it, ha ha, just kidding.

While researching on the Internet I was looking at a web site: TravelHero.com amd it made me aware that there is so much more out there for families to explore that are set in-between the two coast lines. On their map you can see all theses different places that you can click on and get all the info you’d need for your stay.   They provide discount hotel reservations as well as helping you find a flight and assist in reserving a car for your use, smooth and stress free!  I even saw something on there about golf!

Handicap Transport

A few years back my mother-in-law had a massive stroke which took away her mobility as well as her ability to speak. We wanted her at home and that’s where she wanted to be, so obviously any type of assisted facility was out of the question. The only real problem facing us at the time was the ability to transport her to her doctors, or to just get out and go for a ride somewhere. We needed an affordable handicap vehicle with ease of transport, comfortable ride and room. My brother-in-law found a website www.mobilityworks.com – with the first scan came up with the perfect vehicle! He got an amazing deal on a Para-transit Bus that was in great shape, clean as a whistle, and with all the amenities we’d need.

The Salesman even explained how they could add any other special needs devices we would need for our particular case. A very helpful man, and pleasantly sincere. It was a nice Ford, which my brother-in-law really likes, as well as Dad. And I recently found that the very place with the used handicapped vans for sale, was this Mobility Works Handicap Vans and Buses Place. They even design vans and buses for your particular needs.

Our teen-agers wants a new car

Our newly licensed teen-ager has her mind made up that she deserves to Buy a Car!  Not just any car but a brand new one, boy do we need to do some more education with this one and the value of a dollar.

Now it seems to me that a new driver has no need for a brand spanking new vehicle that can cost you and arm and a leg to purchase and put on the road.  She doesn’t understand that most new drivers, especially young teen ones, end up in an accident or two or three before they really know what they are doing.  So a nice used one is the way to go until she is in at least her 20’s.

I heard that when you buy a new vehicle the value decreases between $1000 to $2000 as soon as you drive it off the lot.  It seems that it isn’t that uncommon for a driver to get hit leaving the sale lot, bamm, there goes a grand or two right off the bat.  Bummer!

California Drinking

My long time friend who has ended up in Southern California hasn’t called or email as much lately as he used to actually called today, he picked a crazy day to call, but I’m glad that he did.  He is such a wonderful person and life gave him the challenge of being gay, we’ve spent many an hour chatting about his lifestyle and he has had his ups and downs with it that is for sure.

He spent some time back in his old home town in Wisconsin, but small towns up north are not what you would call “gay friendly” so he didn’t stay there long.  He bounces around the states and I never know where he will be calling from next.  This time he was thinking of staying in California but of course life is challenging him once again.

He has always enjoyed the night life, since bars are the easiest place to meet other gays, but since he is fast approaching the age of 60 he has toned down his wild night life, for the most part.

After much prodding from his close friend – the poor guy went out the other night and it happens that someone must have slipped something into his drink(s), so he doesn’t remember all that much.  He does remember however, the L.A. police officer hand cuffing him, pieces of a ride in the smelly backseat of a police cruiser and most of all waking up the next a.m. in a cold, cramped and very scary jail cell.  His night out of the town ended up in getting himself a DUI.  And that, now a days, is serious and can cost $$$$$ and will make it difficult for him to keep his job as a city bus driver, bummer.

Of course by now he tells me that he has an attorney.  he even writes a blog on their website Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorney Blog | California Criminal Law Forum. They are one of the top 5% U.S. Law Firm that specializes in aggressive representation in the Southern California courts with criminal and DUI cases.
