Nationwide Better Be On My Side

After experiencing a fender bender in the bank parking lot, we now get to deal with insurance adjusters and body shops right before the holiday season. Since this happened in a parking lot the police couldn’t do anything but write a report for us both to submit to each person’s insurance company. She backed into me, there is no way of getting around this one. I took pictures with my cell phone and made sure she did the same thing.

After waiting around all day for the insurance rep to arrive, we finally got a call telling us that the adjuster was running behind schedule and won’t be able to get to us until tomorrow.  Of course that ran Hubby into a tissy, he still isn’t feeling well and is mighty grumpy.

Hubby has been sick in the bed for a few days now and his back is hurting, wish we could afford a new bed that would be gentle on his back, the older he gets the worse it seems to bother him.

We will see what tomorrow brings us.

Fighting the Clock

I remember a commercial for something like hair color where the model says something to the effect of, “I don’t intend to age gracefully. I intend to fight it every step of the way!”

I feel that way, too, and one thing I’ve noticed lately is that my skin needs a little extra attention. I’ve never been one for laying out in the sun and getting a deep tan, so I think I have an advantage over some of the other women my age. But I want to fight the wrinkles and age spots if I can find the products to help me.

From reading online about anti-aging treatments, it seems that there are two key ingredients to keeping youthful skin. One is collagen and the other is elastin. I’m going to start looking into this and start trying harder to keep my skin as healthy as I can for as long as I can. It’s the only skin I will ever have.

Handicap Transport

A few years back my mother-in-law had a massive stroke which took away her mobility as well as her ability to speak. We wanted her at home and that’s where she wanted to be, so obviously any type of assisted facility was out of the question. The only real problem facing us at the time was the ability to transport her to her doctors, or to just get out and go for a ride somewhere. We needed an affordable handicap vehicle with ease of transport, comfortable ride and room. My brother-in-law found a website www.mobilityworks.com – with the first scan came up with the perfect vehicle! He got an amazing deal on a Para-transit Bus that was in great shape, clean as a whistle, and with all the amenities we’d need.

The Salesman even explained how they could add any other special needs devices we would need for our particular case. A very helpful man, and pleasantly sincere. It was a nice Ford, which my brother-in-law really likes, as well as Dad. And I recently found that the very place with the used handicapped vans for sale, was this Mobility Works Handicap Vans and Buses Place. They even design vans and buses for your particular needs.

Home for the Night

Not feeling well today, so I think we’ll be staying in tonight.  Hubby wants to order chinese food and get a movie. Sounds like a plan although I think chicken soup would be a better suggestion at this point.

Maybe a good night’s sleep and some vitamins will fight this off.

The Last of The Tooth Fairy

Our last trip to the dentist proved to be another cavity free visit for our youngest, plus we were informed that he only had one more baby tooth left to lose and that this last baby tooth was very loose and ready to pop out at anytime.

Well it did pop out the other night and for the very last time the tooth fairy I made my way into his cluttered bedroom and gently removed this very special tooth and then replaced it with a nice shiny gold 1$ coin.  You know the 1$ gold coin that was recently issued with the President’s images on them.  The first coin to have ever been released by our U.S. mint without the saying of “In God we Trust” inscribed on it. (Boy that really gets my dander up, but that’s another blog entry in the making I can see it now!)

Oh well, just another day of my baby losing precious pieces of his childhood and I am left helpless to do anything about it, but to sit back and treasure the moments. And to keep my camera handy at all times.

Info on Chicken Soup

Since Hubby is ill and I am going to make him some chicken soup I thought I would search the web about the benefits of Chicken Soup when sick.  Here is what it stated:

“And if you were wondering about just how effective my secret weapon is against the cold and flu season, it’s not so secret. The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), found that 87 percent of doctors agree that it is important for people to increase fluid intake when they have a cold. Two out of three of these doctors agree that eating soup is an effective way to improve hydration when experiencing cold symptoms. Chicken broth especially sparked scientific interest in 2000, when a study, published in the medical journal CHEST, indicated that chicken broth had potential anti-inflammatory effects in laboratory studies that potentially could ease the symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections.”

Pretty cool info, gotta love the World Wide Web!

Colds

Wasn’t feeling well last night, thinking I just needed a good night sleep and would wake up feeling like myself again, but that is what I get for thinking!

Sent hubby to the store to pick up some cold medicine and something quick and easy for him to make supper for the kids if I’m not up to cooking this evening.  Some chicken soup would be perfect. What a guy, he was going to do a side plumbing job for some friends this week-end, but promised me that he would call and see if he can do it next week-end, so that he can stay close to home to give me a chance to focus on feeling better.  I need to get myself back on my feet before the work week starts, have a busy schedule planned and being sick is NOT on the schedule.
