Look of The Year, Interesting Online Beauty Contest!

My oldest daughter has always been interested in modeling, she is a looker, all blond hair, green eyed, large busted and all. When she was real young, three and four years of age, I had her in several beauty pageants and she always either placed or would win 1st prize, that all seems so long ago now.

Through out the years she has been told numerous times by people that she should check into modeling and it always makes her feel good, but she just never has proceeded with it. But last night she found a website of a company called Look of The Year, which advertises a unique online beauty for anybody, not just a chosen few! Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and anyone who surfs their site, world wide, has the opportunity to be a judge, and cast a vote for the one that they believe is the most beautiful.

Sounds interesting and I can see where she would get a charge out of participating in something like this, she is going to register and search for the perfect picture to submit. I’ll keep you posted in what takes place.

My Parents Make Friends Where Ever They Go

Since my parents retired and moved to Florida, they have had no problem meeting people and making friends, they are both very out going and lovable people that enjoy being around other people, I’m always getting email from my mom telling me about her newly made friends and her last email was no different.

She tells me how they met a very nice lady while playing golf one afternoon and she and my mom hit it off right from the start, and since then they have met her husband and my dad has fast become his best buddy. They all have very much in common and have been doing all kinds of things together since first meeting up.

Bed bugs, ugh

It is sad but true that the bed bug is making a come back in these past several years. My daughter has a friend whose mother called me very upset a few months ago. They were finding marks on their bodies that looked like insect bites and were driving themselves crazy with all the itching and scratching going on and wanted to know if our daughter was experiencing the same things. I’m glad to say that my daughter was doing just fine, but I urged the mother to take the kids to the doctor to find out for sure.

Well it appears that they were experiencing a case of the bed bugs and wanted me to be aware of what it was so as to keep my eyes open just in case my daughter started itching. Her daughter and my daughter spend a lot of nights at each others houses and it would really suck if my daughter had brought the little buggers home with her.

Between bed bugs and head lice we are all in trouble. These critters are becoming more and more tolerant of the chemicals that are being used to kill them and they really are causing havoc all over the country, as well as around the world.

An Ideal Birthday Idea For Hubby

Hubby has a birthday coming up in a few weeks and I was thinking of how is back is always giving him such trouble.  I seem to spend a good amount of time rubbing his back for him and I have to admit that it would be a relief not to spend so munch of my time on his aches and pains so that I can deal with my own issues, mainly menopause, ugh..

I’ve been told by several people of a company that sells the Human Touch Quality Massage Chairs, these chairs are said to replicate the proven techniques used by professional massage therapists and chiropractors and are great in providing back pain relief which Hubby desperately wants and needs on a daily and nightly basis.

This company uses the most advanced robotic massage technology and systems in their massage chairs and I like the fact that it is a whole chair, not just a pad that you put on top of your chair or couch to simulate the hands and techniques of full body massage like the expert massage professionals.

 Massage Chairs really looks like something Hubby would really enjoy and use, and maybe even share with me at times.

No Lobster For Me Tonight, Bummer

Hubby had to work later than he expected and came home tired and a bit under the weather, looks like I will have to wait another week for my much anticipated lobster dinner.  I hope he isn’t coming down with something and if so I hope it isn’t contagious, I don’t think this house/family can stand another bout of illness just yet.  We all get our flu shots each and every year, so we haven’t come down with the flu since getting these wonderful and affordable flu shots, but we have had our share of other nasty junk to nurse.

I was looking through my downstairs deep freezer and found a turkey from last year’s holiday season that never get cooked.  I’m letting it thaw out and I think we will have a nice turkey dinner on Sunday with all the trimmings, just like Thanksgiving and/or Christmas. It looks like it will be very cold on Sunday, so we will have the fireplace going and everything!  I love the way it makes the house smell so good.

Natural Latex and Organic Cotton Mattresses

It seems that more people in my immediate family are experiencing some type of sleep issues. My one sister was just diagnosed with Narcolepsy and is no longer able to drive for fear of falling asleep while being behind the wheel. This has made a huge impact on her and her family that they are trying to adjust to upon hearing the news. From Flip Flogs to Hiking Boots

Summer means camping and fishing to me, so my wardrobe is going to need just a little boost from some more rugged outdoor wear. I need things with pockets and ventilated shirts so I don’t get too hot while I stay covered up against mosquitoes and biting flies. My usual flip flops and sandals are certainly not going to get me very far on the trail, so I’m looking for a new pair of hiking boots. I want good construction so they are not only comfortable but they should last for several years. Not something that I want to just pick up cheaply at our local Walmart.

Also, I want waterproof boots this time. There’s not much that can ruin a hiking trip like wet feet. When I think about work boots or hiking boots, the brand that first comes to mind is always going to be Wolverine. This is a brand that I have known and trusted for over 20 years. My very first pair of work boots for an outside and very intense summer job while in high school were Wolverine Boots and I’ve been a diehard fan ever since.

I really like the tread design so that these boots will grab the rocks and gravel on a hiking trail to prevent slipping and the high tops will protect my ankles from twisting or turning on the rocks. Executive Motel Miami Style!

If she wasn’t my BFF (Best Friend Forever) for well over 30 years, a friendship that first got it’s start somewhere literally decades ago back in the fourth grade, I’d been green with the type of jealously that the female population is so “well-known for” acting out on . Usually acted out in some type of negative way that is considered acting like a drama queen within a very wide spectrum of levels and angles that has the potential to mystify even the best Geometrist.

I’m speaking of the plans (that she sent me all the links and info to via email) that she and her “new guy” have come up with to celebrate their first Valentine’s Day together, as a couple. It is so cool to see her so happy and excited with a guy that so far has proved himself to be of good character, has a wonderful sense of humor and appears to be generally a good guy all the way around. All this and more for almost 10 months now. She hasn’t been and stayed in a relationship for this long in many, many moons. I’m so enjoying watching the whole relationship blossom, praying all through the way that there won’t be too many thorns on the rose that she is so totally enjoying right now.

I’m the first to admit that I know nothing (but am certainly open-minded to) about any of the “Fantasy Hotels” anywhere, much less the one that they have reservations for that is down in Florida – The jumps right out there at me and makes everything else around it a blur!

Generally I’d be sending her off with a “Good Luck” and make sure to take plenty of pictures. But I think I’ll be leaving off the photo request for this particular trip that will be a once in a life-time opportunity to have a blast!

Monk, Reduced To ReRuns

private eye  I have been enjoying for the past few years the show on the USA channel about this poor/blessed man called MONK.  I remember the actor playing a part on the sitcom WINGS which was based in a small airport in Nan Tuckett, what a difference in characters for the actor Tony Shalhoub to play.

I’ve watched the show so much that Hubby has even gotten a soft spot for the obsessive-compulsive detective and now our youngest and some of his friends enjoy watching him when they get a chance.

Come to find out that even both my sisters have been MONK fans and have even read some of the books, which have been passed down to me to read, still waiting on the last one, hint, hint, sis!

If you haven’t seen the show check it out……Even though they stopped filming a few years ago, there are reruns galore of this outrageous hit TV show.

Monk is a detective afraid of the dark, a gumshoe afraid of gum. He has no problem cracking a case – as long as it doesn’t involve heights or germs, and is in close proximity to his apartment. Other than solving his wife’s murder, Monk would like nothing more than to gain back his position on the San Francisco police force, but can he pull himself together and get back to solving crimes full time?

Major Headache – Possible Migraine

The other evening I was starting to feel a bit grumpy and was fighting to keep a headache at bay, when all of a sudden I started vomiting (ugh, I know) and it was downhill from there.

Never had a headache like that before so I am assuming that it was a migraine, boy I don’t want that to happen again. I know several people that deal with migraines off and on and I just can’t imagine feeling like that, once in a life time is enough for me. To think that some folks can and do deal that type of pain daily, OMG!

Any ways hubby is finally feeling much better, he and the kids were a great help, they took good care of me and I’m feeling a bit better this afternoon.  The house is nice and quiet, not sure where anyone is, but I really don’t care – the house is never quiet like this, not on a week-end. Shhh….
