Pulling my hair out

It has been such a blah day today that I have no idea what would lift my spirits up and pull me out of this mood that I’m in. My son wanted me to take him to his friends house earlier and I couldn’t just for the fact that I didn’t want to move what so ever because of this down mood I’m in. I think I’m going to take multivitamins from now on, it usually helps out a little bit. So I do believe I’ll be heading to GNC, which is at our local mall, here shortly to pick some up. We all have our bad days but I try very hard to limit mine because my family needs me so very much.

My Sons Birthday is Coming Up!

My sons birthday is coming up soon and I’m trying to make it to where I can afford his birthday gifts and throw somewhat of a decent party for him this year. He seems to really enjoy his new PlayStation 3 we had gotten him this past Christmas and has had his eye on a few new games that have recently came out. So today I am going to try to shop for the coolest games I can come across that I think he will really enjoy playing over and over, instead of getting tired of them after one time of playing them and never touching them ever again.

I also would like to find a cake with his favorite cartoon character, Sponge Bob on it, and make arrangement’s for it to be ready the day before his party. I have already found invitations he loves with Power Rangers all over them, and have already sent them out to the parents of his friends. I’m hoping to get all RSVP’s in the next week so I can make plans on all activities for the children on the day of his party. I am really hoping that the day of his party, it will be a nice sunny day out so we have more options on the activities we are selecting.

How To Remove A Tick

Please forward to anyone with children… or hunters or dogs, or anyone who even steps outside in summer!!

A School Nurse has written the info below — good enough to share, And it really works!! I had a pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick. This is great, because it works in those places where it’s some times difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc.

Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time I’ve used it (and that was frequently), and it’s much less traumatic for the patient and easier for me.  Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can’t see that this would be damaging in any way. I even had my doctor’s wife call me for advice because she had one stuck to her back and she couldn’t reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately called me back to say, ‘It worked!’

**Please pass on. Everyone needs this helpful hint.**

Lunch at Red Lobster!

Hubby has been promised that we would go out to lunch at Red Lobster for a weeks now and something seems to come up every day that it doesn’t work out.

My sister sent us gift certificates for Red Lobster as a Christmas gift, I can’t believe that I have been holding on to them for this long, waiting for a chance to use them.  We wanted to do lunch so that it would be just the two of us.  We take the kids everywhere all the time, so if we can steal away for a lunch, just us two, we take it and run with it.

Today was the day, it just worked out, it wasn’t planned.  The computer was acting funny so neither of us could go online, the weather was cooperating nicely, so we went and got back in time for the youngest to get home from school by the bus.

We both ordered nice entrees and enjoyed an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms, yummy.  We both really enjoy their muffins, so they came home with us, along with a few other left overs, but not that much was left on our plates to bring home.  We did order a take out order of the fondue bread with lobster sauce so that the whole family can enjoy it later.

I love Red Lobster, thanks Sis!

Stem Cell Research

I have read quite a bit as of late about how much we all have to gain through today’s stem cell research. And I just finished reading an article about how how a company by the name of C’elle has made it possible to collect these vital stem cells from a woman’s monthly menstrual fluid.

C’elle has made it possible to take control of a woman’s future, right in the privacy of her home, in a revolutionary technique that makes the harvesting from your menstrual blood, safe and easy, what a wonderful opportunity they are providing us.

Imagine knowing in advance what you are capable of passing down to future generations, just by using this invasive collection process. The cells are processed and preserved at a very low temperature, for possible cellular therapies that might be used in the future. These are self-renewing cells, that who knows, one day might be used for sports medicine.

C’elle is offering for a limited time a promotion called “Caring is Sharing”, you may purchase this kit for yourself and give a friend or a relative one for free. You can go online to Celle.com and put in the promo code of 241 to take advantage of this one time only special. This is something that takes very little time to do, so it is great for us over worked and over scheduled women of today’s world.

I went on line and read some of their C’elle Client Testimonial pages and it sounds like a very exciting proposal, one that is very controversial, to say the least, but very interesting and important.

Plans for Spring Break

Ever since mom and dad retired and moved to Florida, they have been inviting us to come visit. Since we are expecting snow this week, the thought of balmy Florida breezes and letting the kids run loose at Disney or Universal is sounding pretty good to me right now.

The hard part of traveling with a teenager is that she always makes plans to do things with “her friends” and she has little interest in spending precious time away from school with her family. I wonder if there is enough in Orlando to tempt her? I can’t leave her behind, but I don’t want a pouty and bitter teenager there against her will, either. She could spoil the trip for everyone with one of her “moods.”

What to do? What to do?

The Prom

The charlotte dj that has been hired for this year’s high school senior prom has come highly recommended by several people that have used them before. Having the right dj can make or break a party and the prom is a huge ordeal. Hundreds of kids are looking forward to their prom, spending an outrageous amount on the whole event, so the dj just has to be great.

I did not graduate from high school, so I didn’t get to go to my prom. I didn’t think it was a big deal back then, but now I really regret not sticking it out longer at school (although I did go back and get my GED) and graduating with my classmates and going to the prom. That is why I am so involved with making each year’s prom a great one for the kids at the local high school. It will be a couple more years before my kids will be going to the prom. I can only pray that they will graduate and have the opportunity to do all the cool things that seniors get to do, including the prom!

Mom Wants And Needs A New PC

One of my brothers is the computer whiz in our family, but since he has recently gotten himself married he isn’t as available as much as he used to be.  I have depended on him for 90% of my computer needs and Hubby for the other 10%.  I  mean I can switch ink cartridges and add paper, but that is about my limit, sad but true.

The time has now come that I need to be more independent when it comes to the computer, I spend so much time on one, it makes sense to learn more about it.  So the next computer that I get I am going to dive in and learn.  In fact I have found a web-site that specializes in PC that you can build yourself, the instructions are in English and offers plenty of illustrations to help, pictures are good!

I found an easy site to navigate thru and I’m thinking that maybe I will order one of their PC Kits that comes with everything needed to build your own PC with, except a screwdriver, I have plenty of those, just need to find the right one when it’s needed.

I’m getting excited about a new coming into the house, I wonder if I should call my brother and ask his opinion on the idea of me trying this out.  Boy I just can’t seem to do anything computer related with out bothering him with something, maybe he will be happy to see my trying and will feel sympathetic and will come assist me, just in case, Hubby can be really grumpy when I ask for his help.  He is so grumpy even the kids won’t ask for his assistance with their homework.

The Junior Prom This Year

It will be nice to see my daughter and her current boyfriend all dressed up for the Junior Prom, at the end of the year. We have already been looking at dresses, shoes, handbags and all of the other accessories that it takes to dress up all formal like. He has been looking at various tuxedo vests to match the color of the dress, when my daughter finally makes a decision on her dress, which better be soon. He has a lot to do himself for this big event.

This will be fun. I never got to go to any of the formal dances back in my high school years, so this is all so new and exciting for me. Never thought that I would be one of those mothers that gets all crazy during these memory making moments. And to think this is only the Junior Prom. I can’t imagine what all is involved with next year’s Senior Prom although I’m sure there will be a limo some how involved.

What’s For Dinner Mom?

I just went to the grocery store yesterday, but today it seems as if we don’t have a thing in the house that anyone wants to eat.  The kids are eating us out of house and home, both are just consuming huge amounts of food, I can’t keep up.  The oldest has become picky, which is so unusual for her, so used to eat just about anything and was willing to try new foods with no problem, but in the past year something has made her harder to please.

The youngest has always been a very picky eater from day one.  It is getting harder and harder to plan a meal that everyone enjoys.  She is pretty good about trying new things, but it is unfortunate that 99% of what she tries, she doesn’t like and makes a most horrific face to let you know how much she doesn’t like and doesn’t appreciate having to try it in the first place.

So tonight I will be fixing Sloppy Joes, I make it from a recipe that I got from a very close friend back in Jr. High School, it was her mother’s and I have been making it for a very long time, and no one has ever not liked it.  And I can tell you that a lot of people in the past 30 years or so have eaten them with great satisfaction.

I wish her mother was still around so that I could tell her about her recipe for this most wonderful Sloppy Joe sandwich which has brought pleasure to lots of folks.  I think she would get a kick out of hearing about it.  I miss you Mom Crawford!
