The Junior Prom This Year

It will be nice to see my daughter and her current boyfriend all dressed up for the Junior Prom, at the end of the year. We have already been looking at dresses, shoes, handbags and all of the other accessories that it takes to dress up all formal like. He has been looking at various tuxedo vests to match the color of the dress, when my daughter finally makes a decision on her dress, which better be soon. He has a lot to do himself for this big event.

This will be fun. I never got to go to any of the formal dances back in my high school years, so this is all so new and exciting for me. Never thought that I would be one of those mothers that gets all crazy during these memory making moments. And to think this is only the Junior Prom. I can’t imagine what all is involved with next year’s Senior Prom although I’m sure there will be a limo some how involved.

Something Cool

Something is getting popular now a days with all kinds of folks are having business cards printed up so that you can distribute them to who ever you choose to give them to. And with an offer such as “Free Business Cards” you can bet that my oldest daughter is ready to order.

She found a website called unlimitedbusinesscards.com and they advertise unlimited supply of free business cards AND free shipping.  You have to register to get access to the site which takes a few minutes but so many sites require this that you can practically do it in your sleep!

It seems that they can afford to offer these free because advertisers pay them to have their ads on the back of the free business cards, what a cool idea. They are what I call “Killing 2 birds with one stone”. It is an interesting proposition that they offer: After you fill out the form, your business card will become a product that our advertisers can choose to advertise on. Once we get 3 advertisers to advertise on your business card we will email you a link that you can use to upload your artwork or design your business card online choosing from over 13,000 templates. And they want you to agree to distribute all of your cards in a years time – interesting.

I actually registered and put in an order for some cards for Hubby to use and we will see how it goes from there, after we check them out I will allow our daughter to order some, free is a good amount to pay – I’m sure you would agree.

Thrift Stores Are The Way To Go For Winter Clothes

Each winter, no matter how hard I try and get the whole family prepared and outfitted for the nasty cold weather that we have to deal with, some one needs something. So tomorrow I’m heading out the door to the new A.S.P.C.A. Thrift Store that recently opened up here in town to pick up a few things. Going to look for some nice warm water proof boots for myself, my old ones just don’t cut it anymore and I don’t want to spend a lot of $$$.

I got a coupon in the mail for this new second hand store that benefits all the local animal population in so many ways, as you may know by now that coupons and I like each other.

The Task Of Ordering Machine Handles Online

The days of running all over town, and sometimes needing to go to neighboring towns, to find items that are so easy to order Online such as the machine handles that Hubby is needing. It is worth waiting a few days for the items to arrive at our door and ready to go.  It took all of 7 minutes to find the perfect handles and they should be here in time for him to get what he needs to do with them.

Now I can move on to other tasks that need to be tackled. My “To Do List” is never ending and always changing. And to  think that the Christmas season is looming straight ahead at us. Actually I just looked up how long before Christmas comes and it tells me it is 77 more sleeps, which equals ten weeks. OMG, makes my head hurt just thinking about it.

Bum Deal With JCPenney Order

It really burnt me up, I had been looking at these lofts for several months now, my daughter has sat with me many a nights looking at all of her options, bunk beds, day beds, trundle beds, lofts, and when we found a loft bed that offered a full size mattress size, so that when a friend sleeps over there will be room for the two of them, as of now they either squeeze together in her twin bed or one sleeps on the hard floor. They really don’t mind, kids can sleep just about anywhere but it will be so much more comfortable and roomy for her in many ways, that we fell in love with the one from J.C. Penney’s.

Since I have a credit card with that store I receive emails with promotions and when I received one offering free shipping on orders over $250 I then made my decision to order the loft then and now. After filling out all of the information of the order and going through the whole process, and the end they tell you that this purchase doesn’t qualify for the free shipping promotion, I was flabbergasted, but was tired and said what the hell and placed the order anyone and I will just have to suck up the loss.

Researching Homeowners Insurance Rates

The money that we shell out every month for our current homeowners insurance rates is really getting out of hand. This next up and coming weekend I plan on researching online other insurance company rates and see what I can come up with that will help reduce the amount of money that goes out each and every month. With the thought in mind that Christmas is really right around the corner I am getting anxious about how we are going to manage purchasing all of the gifts that we are obligated to hand out each holiday season.

I’ve been trying to cut back in any way that I can and the Internet is a great tool to help me with the overwhelming tasks required to make our budget a bit easier to tackle.

Starting An Online Business

A few months ago my oldest daughter and I were talking about possibly creating our own online printing business and decided to give it a go. Her husband had said he also wanted to be apart of it, so we waited until he had gotten back from his business trip to discuss our options and our plans with him, so we were all on the same page.  When he finally had gotten back from his business trip, we had all gotten together to discuss what we had in mind.

Reality Shows – A Bunch Of Nonsense

For the most part I don’t mind once in a while watching one of the many court room judge television shows, but I can tell you that I never, ever watch Divorce Court (how very depressing is that show) nor will I watch Judge Judy. That is one scary woman with a lot of attitude and a lot of power bestowed all onto one menopausal woman.  I can’t imagine allowing myself to be put on national television in front of God and everyone, to be belittled by this wacky woman and have her try my case for any reason what so ever.  As far as going on national television during a divorce, are you frigging nuts or what?

I don’t know anyone personally that has made an appearance or knows anyone who has. I can tell you that when and if I ever do I will have so many questions for them that I really want answers to. I have a relative, through marraige, who made an appearance on the Jerry Springer show about 5 years ago. I never got to see the episode, but hubby did and wasn’t impressed. It was all 100% nonsense. Our relative made the whole thing up and was urged to act “over the top” by the folks that got them on the show. That was a real eye opener as to what is really going on with many of these “reality shows” that people are enjoying more and more these days. I say that if you want to see what goes on in a court room, then get your butt down to your local courtroom and spend the day in the various courtrooms there!

Background Playsets Chesapeake Va

When the kids were real little we wanted to buy them a playset for them to see and enjoy on Christmas morning. We figured we could just trot on down to Toys-R-Us or possibly Walmart pick one up and bring her home and keep stored in the garage until Christmas eve, which is when hubby planned on putting the darned thing together. I always feel so bad for the Dad’s on Christmas since they are the ones that usually spend so much time putting things together before, during and after all the excitement is over with with the gift giving and receiving that is so exciting for kids.

Weren’t we surprised when we could find a single playset in town. We were told that these playsets are considered summer merchandise and that they wouldn’t be getting any of those products until March or April. We really had no idea that this would become an issue. We ended up finding a used playset – can’t remember how we found out about it. These were the days when we certainly had computers but not anywhere like we do now or else we could have searched online and found the perfect playsets chesapeake va or even have one customized for that matter.

It all worked out though and hubby was up real late that Christmas Eve putting that playset together in the middle of the night all by himself and it was one of those real cold Christmas Eves, but he never complained and the kids were totally surprised and thrilled that Christmas morning when we had them look out the back window. It was worth every bit of time and effort put into that wonderful playset.

Groceries

Depending upon where you live in the U.S., the store where you buy groceries can be very different from the grocery stores in other parts of the country. In some states you can buy liquor in the grocery store. In Virginia, you can buy beer and wine, but not liquor. I hear that in Tennessee you can’t even buy wine in the grocery, but you can buy beer except on Sunday mornings.

Close to my house, the best grocery store is Food Lion. We are lucky that it is one of their larger stores. The produce section is especially nice – a huge variety and all the vegetables and fruits are fresh and bruise-free. We have a large selection of meats and several aisles of frozen foods. I try to limit my shopping to once a week, but it is so convenient that I can run by there any time.

When I was growing up, the two main grocery stores were Giant and Grand Union, and if you were willing to drive all the way into Rosslyn you could shop at a Safeway store. I don’t think there are any Grand Unions anymore – they disappeared, Food Lions sprang up and now we have Wal-Marts, too.
