My Sister Drives Me Crazy!

My sister is a lot older than me, so we were never really close while growing up. She got married right away and moved out of the area with her new husband, who my parents could not stand. So I have not really had the advantages of being sisters with her.

But now that we are older, I was hoping we could rekindle a relationship. After all, we are family. But it can be days, if not weeks, before she returns my phone calls and emails. I hope it is because she is just very busy with her family, but I wonder if she just doesn’t even want a sister in her life?

About as Useless

I was trying to think of a good phrase to post on Facebook to kid a friend. He mentioned in oe of his posts that he can’t dance. So I wanted to flippantly say, “A man who cannot dance is about as useless as . . . . ” but I couldn’t think of anything! I hate it when I know there is a word or phrase on the tip of my tongue but it just won’t come forth!

I searched on Google for the phrase and not much of anything come up in the search results. So I stepped away from the computer for a bit and cooked dinner. While I was cooking, I did get an idea of what to say. I finished the phrase with: “. . . an ashtray on a Harley.”

Shout Out to Jeremy

My friend Jeremy has a blog. I had no idea that he did until I overheard him talking about WordPress with a buddy. I wondered what he knew about WordPress, as that is the software that I use for my blog. Turns out he knows about WordPress because he has been blogging for lie 3 years already. Probably longer than I have!

Shout Out to Walter

One of my neighbors has been so good to me. Walter came over on Monday and shoveled my driveway so I could get my car out. I had started shoveling my steps and the walk from my front door to the driveway and didn’t make much progress. Snow is heavy and I got tired really fast. Walter was across the street watching me (and probably laughing his ass off at poor pathetic me!) and when I was about to give up, he came over and offered to help with the driveway.

Walter, you were a God-send. Thank you so much!

Snowed In

It started snowing sometime Saturday night because when I woke up Sunday morning, everything was already covered with about an inch of snow. And it snowed all day Sunday, so we have about 3 inches of snow on the ground this morning. Of course, they canceled school for everyone in the whole state. We don’t like snow and ice around here – it’s just better for school to close and keep the buses off the roads and out of the ditches.

End of a Decade

I can’t believe it is just one more day and then we are ending the first decade of the new millennium. What an exciting time to be young and healthy. We have great potential for the next 10 years. I’m taking up the challenge to make this next decade the best one for me and for my loved ones.

I’m so very much looking forward to happy, healthy and prosperous times for us in 2011.

If it’s not one thing, it’s another

We had a major back up with our water system that made a complete and total mess that took forever to clean up. Well, at least it was clean water and not the sewer.

It was a few minutes ago when I went to the basement to do a few loads of laundry, when I found that my washer and dryer are not at all working! My husband came down to take a look at it, and had told me that we needed to get a new washer and dryer, Ugh! If it’s not one thing, it’s another unfortunately. Guess I need to go on-line and start comparison shopping right away with the amount of laundry that this family goes through!

My friend now has her own blog

My long time best friend, Rachel, listens to me as I talk on and on at times about my blogging and she has finally consented to give it and try, which tickles me pink! She has been doing it forĀ over three weeks now, posting sometimes a couple of posts a day.

She was frantic when her PC crashed for 2 days, she had to get her son to come over and work his computer magic and got it back up and running, good as new. During her down time we spent several hours on the phone, which has become something that we don’t do much anymore since we rely on email and Instant Messengers so much.

Anyway, Rachel is once again happy to be back blogging, she has found it to be as therapeutic as I have, let’s you release some of your negative energy onto the keyboard and feel better after doing so. So a new blogger has been born, Welcome, Rachel!

Hope for my sister’s finances

I believe that I have written a bit about my one sister who’s husband was injured in a automobile accident, not one that was his fault, his injuries have kept him in treatment, therapies, medicated and out of work, and not receiving one thin dime during this whole time. I believe the accident was last October or so, that is a long time not to be receiving any type of monies on which to pay bills and feed his family, they are pretty much in dire straights at this point and my poor sister is beside herself with him home 24/7 and miserable most of that time. Doesn’t sound like any type of fun at all.

This has been devastating on their whole family and it has to come to an end sooner or later.

Playing in the rain

This weather has made it a challenge for the kids to be playing outside, enjoying their summer vacation from school. We have been experiencing severe thunder and lightening storms, but the temperature is still on the high side of being in the 90’s and all of the kids and their friends what to go outside and jump on the trampoline and play outside.

I remember as a kid, my mother never allowed us to play in the rain, never, I guess she was afraid of one of us getting sick and then the rest of us would get sick and then my mother would have to deal with all of these sick kids.

I on the other hand encourage my kids to go outside and play in the rain, as long as it isn’t the least bit chilly and that there isn’t any lightening going on. I believe there is no reason in the world for them not to unless they would become wet and cold from it. But a good play in the nice warm rain when it is hot outside is good for everybody, that is my story and I’m sticking with it.

So when all of the kids are whining about it raining out and them not being able to play outside, I tell them go ahead and go and have a blast doing it, just be careful.
