Shipping info (Mexico)

Before Mom & Dad retired and moved to Florida, they had run a successful shipping business for years and from time to time I would work for them when needed, so I had an opportunity to learn a bit about the packaging and shipping business.

While surfing the Internet I somehow got linked up to a website for the company Logistics Group International and it sparked my interest.  It specializes in heavy haul transportation, Van, flatbed, stepdeck, double drop, removable gooseneck and specialized heavy haul trucking, they offer their services in Mexico which is why it caught my attention I guess.  When I worked for the folks there seemed to be an issue at times with getting things to Mexico, what with customs and all. This Mexico freight company seems to be the answer the that old dilemma.

It is a pretty cool site, nicely set up, with a nice Power Point to download that shows you a lot of interesting things.  I’ll have to mention it to Mom & Dad next time we chat.

Is Two Good Days In A Row Just Too Much To Ask For!

You would think that by now I would have learned to make sure that all the windows in all of the vehicles are rolled up at night whether or not the weather man has the word “rain” anywhere near to coming out of his mouth. I got to get a good amount of outside chores taken care of today and it about killed me by the time I finished getting things done and finished putting everything up and away.

As much as I was tired out, I was still in a good enough mood not to worry about the window situation. And knowing that the weather man didn’t say so much as a word about rain, I just got myself inside to a big, iced cold, glass of iced tea, a warm shower when I heard a huge rolling thunder headed our way and the car and truck windows were the last thing on my mind. Too bad that first thing this morning I sat down into a wet and mushy car seat. I do believe I don’t have to say anything else, am I right?

Willie Nelson and Marty Stuart’s Guitars

One of the people who come to mind instantly when you say anything about country music or the Grand Old Opry is Marty Stuart. He has been a performer for over 40 years – it wouldn’t take long to look up and find out, but I don’t see the need to at this point. I think you get my drift.

Trigger since 1969
Willie Nelson’s Guitar – Trigger

I remember reading that he left home at a very young age to come to Nashville and play guitar. He looks great and I love the suit he is wearing in this photo! He seems to have a variety of electric and acoustic guitars, like a epiphone pro-1 ultra that he has been seen performing with. Not like Willie Nelson who only plays his one and only acoustic guitar who he has called Trigger since he got it back in 1969, if my memory serves me correctly. Trigger seems to have an interesting story behind it. If you are into Willie Nelson at all – it is an entertaining story that can be found all over the Internet. I use Wikipedia a lot even though I have been warned time and time again about trusting what you read there. But honestly I don’t trust anything 100% of what I read or hear anyway.

Uptown

The first time I heard this on the radio I knew that it was going to be a hit! It’s been out for several months now and I still get excited when I hear it played. How anyone can listen to this and not want to get up and dance, I’ll never know!

Buddy May Be Moving, Again

Our long time buddy, who is currently living in Southern California, ended up recently with a DUI, which I spoke of in a previous posting, and is now considering leaving the wild and crazy California way of life.

The phone rang late the other evening, it seems our buddy still does not comprehend the time differences in the time zones, we never know when we will get a call from him, this call he was extremely excited and wanted to share his latest news with us.  After his court dates are all tended to he wants to relocate again, this time he is thinking of somewhere on the East coast for a change, and possibly someplace kinda close to us.

How exciting, this is a man who has known Hubby and I for a very long time (since before the kids came along) and has always brightened up our lives with his charm and good humor.  It has been years since we have laid eyes on him and our youngest has never had the pleasure of meeting him, yet, but it seems now that there may be a chance.

My sister and her family have just recently moved and I remember she was always telling me of a web site that she used and had found extremely helpful in making a variety of decisions during that really stressful time, so I referred our buddy to it in hopes that he will find it as useful to him as well.  I mean you gotta love a site that basically lets you key in a few basic facts and then Bam there it is, all the necessary information that you will need in order to assist you with such a large financial transaction such like this.

I really would like to see him in a house rather than an apartment, maybe a townhouse would be order, yard work isn’t something that is on the top of his list of priorities, but he is always so cramped in an apartment.

This time, this move will definitely require the services of a long distance moving company, a relocation professional, the days are gone of just packing up the car with your junk and cruising on down the highway.  This company even offers assistance in getting your car to you with Auto transport companies and car shipper companies that have state of the art carriers that ship your vehicle, safely and quickly.

I like the way this site offers numerous guides on important issues that provide you with all the necessary information to help get you through the tasks of the relocation process.

Sia – Chandelier Official Video

The official director’s cut for the 4 time Grammy nominated hit “Chandelier” directed by Sia and Daniel Askill, featuring Maddie Ziegler. I wish I could hit this note and carry it as well as she does. A girl can dream can’t she!

Denon and Marantz

Hard to believe that Denon has been around since the 1970’s, but they have been. I was looking online and was reviewing some of their fascinating audio electronics and was glad to see that dennon is still around and still growing strong since they merged with Marantz back in 2002. Back when D.J.’s started replacing live bands at dances and other celebrations that we were so used to having “back in the day”.

Browser Issues

I’ve used Internet Explorer for my internet browser ever since it was first invented. I have faithfully upgraded every time it told me to, including last night when I got a message to install the IE-9. So I did that and now my blog doesn’t work. The screen freezes up and I can’t type anything.

So I had to switch over to Firefox and try using that browser. At least it is free and it seems to be working with my blog. I guess this old dog just needs to learn a few more new tricks and learn how to use another browser now.

Living in New York City

It seems that if I could pick a city to live in, I would have to pick New York, N.Y., that is only if I didn’t have any children to deal with, unless I was rich and could afford a nanny full-time, now that would be cool.

My friend Nancy, whom I’ve known since Middle School is relocating due to her husband’s (Mike) new job is requiring them to live right in New York City, I am so envious us them.  They have been together for over 10 years, we call them Ken and Barbie because they resemble the doll characters so much.  Both are devoted Catholics and are waiting until they are in their 30’s to start a family, so they can have fun now and save up the money needed to raise their kids the right way, and of course they will be sent to a private Catholic schools in the best neighborhood known around.

So she sends me an email the other week, the subject line being “North Fork real estate properties”, I’m thinking what the heck is this about, getting ready to delete it thinking of course that it was spam, until I noticed who it was from.  Mike’s new firm recommended Prudential’s Douglas Elliman, New York’s largest real estate firm and Nancy was sending me the link to the web-site for me to check out.  Wow, what beautiful scenery and lovely properties to be found in the Big Apple.  Good thing the drive is only about a 5 hour one to get there because they are going to be taking that drive a few times, but being able to do so much right on their PC will be such a time saver and will make it less stressful at a time when stress is at it’s highest – moving time, ugh.

How Romantic Is This

My husband had planned out the most romantic celebration for our 20th anniversary two days ago, and I will never forget it for as long as I live. He called me at work early in the day and had told me that he loved me and couldn’t wait to see me later that day and of course it made my heart melt.

When I had came home, I walked into the door and there laid a beautiful cocktail dress he had wrapped up in pretty paper and gorgeous bow ties. It had a note on it telling me to change into it and meet him at a beauty parlor. So I had gotten dressed and went on my way to the beauty parlor where three girls were waiting outside with a sign up with my first name on it. I had walked up to them telling them I was Darlene and they had said “Lets get to work!”

They took me inside to where it was set up for a complete make over, which I have always wanted and they got to work on me. I was so excited to have a make over done, I mean what women wouldn’t be? After 2 hours of primping, they had put me in front of a huge mirror to where I could see the results. I was so shocked on how much of a great job these girls have done, I gave them a big hug and had thanked them, and they had relayed me a message from my husband telling me to go outside where a limo was waiting for me to take me to him.

We pulled up to a extraordinary and beautiful hotel where another woman was outside waiting for me to take me to a room. Well the room as soon as I came in, I had noticed over hundreds of rose petals scattered through out the room along with dozens of white candles every where lit up. My husband was waiting at the bar with a bottle of champagne and strawberries, which are my favorite, and had serenaded me for the rest of the evening. It was like a dream, and I loved every moment of it.
