How Romantic Is This

My husband had planned out the most romantic celebration for our 20th anniversary two days ago, and I will never forget it for as long as I live. He called me at work early in the day and had told me that he loved me and couldn’t wait to see me later that day and of course it made my heart melt.

When I had came home, I walked into the door and there laid a beautiful cocktail dress he had wrapped up in pretty paper and gorgeous bow ties. It had a note on it telling me to change into it and meet him at a beauty parlor. So I had gotten dressed and went on my way to the beauty parlor where three girls were waiting outside with a sign up with my first name on it. I had walked up to them telling them I was Darlene and they had said “Lets get to work!”

They took me inside to where it was set up for a complete make over, which I have always wanted and they got to work on me. I was so excited to have a make over done, I mean what women wouldn’t be? After 2 hours of primping, they had put me in front of a huge mirror to where I could see the results. I was so shocked on how much of a great job these girls have done, I gave them a big hug and had thanked them, and they had relayed me a message from my husband telling me to go outside where a limo was waiting for me to take me to him.

We pulled up to a extraordinary and beautiful hotel where another woman was outside waiting for me to take me to a room. Well the room as soon as I came in, I had noticed over hundreds of rose petals scattered through out the room along with dozens of white candles every where lit up. My husband was waiting at the bar with a bottle of champagne and strawberries, which are my favorite, and had serenaded me for the rest of the evening. It was like a dream, and I loved every moment of it.

An iPhone for Christmas

Santa was nice to me this year and left an iPhone under the tree this year. I am so excited, because ever since it came out I have been wanting to get one.

Lots of great features on here, but the one I am looking forward to most is being able to blog from wherever in the world I am.

Looking around for cool applications on line at the moment, so will do some writing later on.

I hope everyone out there had a Merry Christmas and got what they wanted under the tree this year.

Happy Holidays

My Poor Old Couch

One of my concerns with all of the critters that have been brought into our home, is keeping the furniture, the carpet and actually the whole darned house clean. Considering that I am the only one that does any of the house cleaning around here this whole burden is mine to deal with.

My poor old couch, I have had to have it cleaned so many types and I’ve taken the sofa cushions and given them a nice spraying of Fabreze and a few hours of hanging up outside in the fresh air, when possible. I am thinking that it won’t be much longer before we need to seriously consider purchasing a new sofa for the living room. Maybe something to think about when tax time comes around next April.

thank god for febreze

Internet Counseling – who would have thought

A co-worker that I have known for several years has been having troubles in her recent relationship even before they get married.  Their wedding date is scheduled to take place this autumn, which is really approaching quickly and now they are falling apart.  After numerous talks with her, I am glad to see that she is finally receiving some professional counseling, it just took me by surprise when she told me that she is doing on-line and on her lunch breaks.  That explains why we don’t see her too much around noontime anymore, bless her heart she has been in the other back room that has a PC set up so that employees may utilize it for their personal use, not the PCs at their work stations.

It seems that she is trying to get her finance into some counseling also, that has become a challenge, and not unusual, but in the mean time she is getting herself established with her counselor, Dr. Marty, while trying to keep the relationship from getting worse.

Now at our breaks, she talks to me a lot About Couples Counseling and how glad that she is doing the sessions on-line, and she assures me that the location of the counselor really isn’t important because they offer free-phone sessions also, so you can have the opportunity to speak to a human voice if when needed/wanted, that’s plus.

Dr. Marty has been a practicing therapist for over 30 years and does a variety of counseling, his web site is pretty impressive, www.yourmarriagecounselor.com and they are located in N.J. While they see patients in the office, they do a good amount on-line and via their toll free phone number.  So, Dr. Marty offers counseling sessions locally and across the country.

Personally I think all couples should receive premarital counseling, I know several couples that did and they are still married to this day.  Don’t care how long you have known each other and even if you have been living together, signing that legal piece of paper is a heavy responsibility that is so easy to get into and can be very troublesome getting out of.  Boy, I sound a bit like a preacher/mother, ugh!!!

Black Friday Savings

My oldest daughter and I always go to this one certain website about two weeks before Thanksgiving called black-friday.net. This site lets people purchase Black Friday items online without the hassle of having to stand in line at the store at 5am at multiple stores. Last year  I saved probably around $3,000 for Christmas presents, and saved time, because we got our purchases off the computer instead of standing in line forever, waiting to go to the next store.

Rest Room Rules

At our office, the restrooms are the kind of room where there is only one commode, and one sink, and when you go into the room you lock the door behind you. If you don’t lock the door behind you, you could be embarrassed if someone opens the door. No privacy stall or wall of any kind. I was taught that when a door is closed, you knock on the door before you open it, and wait a moment to see if anyone answers before you open the door.

Well, at our office it appears that no one else was taught that because everyone simply tries to open the door, without knocking first. I am always annoyed when I am in the restroom and I hear someone trying to turn the doorknob to come in, without knocking first. I think that is very rude! I always call out “just a minute” but I still think it is very rude!

Teenager Wants Contact Lenses

My teen doesn’t take care of herself, she is getting better, but responsibility isn’t one of her greatest features.

She was prescribed by our eye doctor a nice pair of glasses several years ago, and I swear I haven’t seen her ever wear them once.  They looked great at the doctor’s office but I guess they somehow turned “really ugly” on the way home from our visit!

She has been wanting contact lenses, the ones by acuvue oasys for some time now and I think we may need to be looking into it. I’ve done some researching on the Internet, of course, and have talked with some other parents who kids have them and after I speak with Hubby I guess I will need to call and make an appointment with the eye doctor, might as well get both kids checked, it has been a while.

I was referred to a company that has a web site Lens.com that helped me make up my mind.  I must say that contact lenses have come a long way since I gave them a try a few decades ago, mind you, so I basically had to start as a beginner.  Their web site was a big help, it was easier than I expected, really.

Daughter wants her lenses to be tinted of course, I was expecting that, but no problem, the cost didn’t scare me away from the idea.  They have ‘Novelty Lenses” called Wild Eyes that seem really awesome, Hubby would flip for sure.  Anyway they offer lenses from the leading top manufactures of lenses so I could check out a variety of them, some with offers of up to 70% off retail prices.

One of my issues with contacts was how dry they made my eyes feel, from what I read, it looks like they have tackled that issue, everything states how moist they are.  Dry eyes are a real bummer.

So after we visit the doctor I will get online and use this fast, easy way to get her the lenses.  We can place her order with them and track the order as it goes, I might even be eligible for a rebate (I love rebates).  If all goes well I will continue to re-order her lenses from them since I will already have an account with there.  Sounds good to me, I’ll let you know.

DUI, DWI, it’s all the same

My husband’s best buddies have been living right out of the L.A. area for the past 5 years or so now. His bud, Jason, likes to go out and have a good time and this grown man certainly knows better than to get behind the wheel anywhere after consuming any type of alcohol beverages these days. The major effort that the police have put in their campaign to get drunk drivers off of the road has been widely publicized and we all know people that have lost their license, their jobs, their careers, the relationships, not to mention all of the monies that will be tied up in all of the court fees and charges.

It seems that the first time that he let his better judgment take over, due to a female being in the picture, of course, and he took a chance and now he is finding himself in deep trouble. It is a good thing that he has all ready lined up an attorney or he would be in jail right now.

Aging Heart Issues

A co-worker of mine is dealing with an elderly mother-in-law that is having some major heart issues, and of course while working in such small quarters that we are forced into sharing with numerous other people (cubicles) we all get to know each other very well and share all kinds of information with each other 9-5, Monday through Friday.

This has made it possible to learn so very much medical information, it seems that everyone is married, has children and dealing with aging parents or in-laws, and so on. On an average day at least 3 or 4 conversations are held in my cubicle alone about some type of doctors appointment that is coming up or have just been attended, and all of the information is shared about them all which the details of will be dissected and digested by everyone. I’m not complaining mind you – it has given me valuable information that has proven to be useful and interesting.

I Hate Homework

It seems our son needs help tonight with his Spanish homework, ugh . . .  I took Spanish for a few years and can muddle my way through the basics, but my goodness I feel pretty useless when is comes to homework about it.

Another subject that gives me the willies is MATH, is it a four letter word as far as I’m concerned, anything past 3rd grade math and I get feverish and feel faint.  Isn’t that a sad state of affairs……….

While helping him maybe I can come up with and idea for dinner!
