Sheetz Gas

I’m glad that the Sheetz gas stations around here have started a new customer loyality card for their loyal customers such as myself. Even though they generally have the cheapest gas around it will be nice to get 3 cents off each gallon that I pump from now on as long as I use my new Sheetz card that I just signed up for. It will also give me various discounts on some of their food and drink items and I’m all for that!

Corn Fields & Their Mazes

A few years ago I heard about a local farmer who took his tractor out in the corn field and cut a series of paths in the stalks. He had a particular design planned out, and when he was finished he sent his kids out to find their way through the maze. When they got out the other side there was a prize waiting for the first one out. They loved it and told their friends and next thing you know they had a bunch of people wanting to go through the maze, too .Now all of a sudden a bunch of farmers had picked up on that idea and are cutting mazes into their corn fields and then charging admission for people to come try to find their way out. It’s actually a fun way for a family to spend together doing something outside in the fresh air and supporting the local farmers who could use a few extra bucks considering all that they have to go through trying to make a living off a farm.

If you have one in your area go ahead and give it a try. I bet you have a nice time and you could probably use the exercise, too!

California Drinking

My long time friend who has ended up in Southern California hasn’t called or email as much lately as he used to actually called today, he picked a crazy day to call, but I’m glad that he did.  He is such a wonderful person and life gave him the challenge of being gay, we’ve spent many an hour chatting about his lifestyle and he has had his ups and downs with it that is for sure.

He spent some time back in his old home town in Wisconsin, but small towns up north are not what you would call “gay friendly” so he didn’t stay there long.  He bounces around the states and I never know where he will be calling from next.  This time he was thinking of staying in California but of course life is challenging him once again.

He has always enjoyed the night life, since bars are the easiest place to meet other gays, but since he is fast approaching the age of 60 he has toned down his wild night life, for the most part.

After much prodding from his close friend – the poor guy went out the other night and it happens that someone must have slipped something into his drink(s), so he doesn’t remember all that much.  He does remember however, the L.A. police officer hand cuffing him, pieces of a ride in the smelly backseat of a police cruiser and most of all waking up the next a.m. in a cold, cramped and very scary jail cell.  His night out of the town ended up in getting himself a DUI.  And that, now a days, is serious and can cost $$$$$ and will make it difficult for him to keep his job as a city bus driver, bummer.

Of course by now he tells me that he has an attorney.  he even writes a blog on their website Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorney Blog | California Criminal Law Forum. They are one of the top 5% U.S. Law Firm that specializes in aggressive representation in the Southern California courts with criminal and DUI cases.

Hope for my sister’s finances

I believe that I have written a bit about my one sister who’s husband was injured in a automobile accident, not one that was his fault, his injuries have kept him in treatment, therapies, medicated and out of work, and not receiving one thin dime during this whole time. I believe the accident was last October or so, that is a long time not to be receiving any type of monies on which to pay bills and feed his family, they are pretty much in dire straights at this point and my poor sister is beside herself with him home 24/7 and miserable most of that time. Doesn’t sound like any type of fun at all.

This has been devastating on their whole family and it has to come to an end sooner or later.

The “Pool”

My dearest hubby and his friends are always into the company sports pool they hold for everything from baseball, to football to basketball and anything in between. They even do one about a “Fantasy Team” where they pick their players, I’m still not quite sure how they do that one.

Hubby’s favorite is his baseball picks, every season, all season long! His favorite Internet site is where he gets, what he likes to call, his daily “fix”. Men! Sometimes they’re just big kids. The only difference between them and the toddlers is the cost of their toys!

I love chocolate and Fannie May is awesome

As a kid I loved candies and chocolates, and as I aged I pretty much lost the taste for such sweat treats, but I am glad to say that in the past two years or so I have rekindled my love for them again. And what is so cool is that there are so many types of candies these days to choose from and I don’t mean the kids kind of candies, I’m talking the kind that is more expensive and caters to my generation and I’m loving every minute of it.

It occurred to me that since I am doing so much on the Internet these days, that I could shop around for my candies on-line, and I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner. One of my favorite candy companies is Fannie May, they have been around forever, almost everyone has heard of them and tasted at least one of their treats and you know that when you purchase one of their products that you are going to get a good quality piece of candy and they have a great selection to choose from. So I ventured onto the Fannie May web-site and was so happy to see that you can order directly from them and what really got me excited was to find that you can create your own assortment any way that you want it and have them ship it to you or where ever else you would want them to go.

Real Estate Still Suffering

My oldest sister has been in the real estate business for several years now and really enjoys it and can’t wait, like the rest of us, for the economy to start easing up so that homes will start selling again so that she can start making good money once again, like she did when she first started in this highly competitive industry.

What a mess!

Yesterday, my husband had noticed that our kitchen sinks were backed up, and about 8 gallons of dirty water came up and went all over the kitchen floor. It wasn’t until about two hours later after cleaning it up that I noticed the basement was flooded with the same dirty water, that had a horrible smell to it. My entire house smelt like garbage until I sanitized absolutely everything! It took eight hours to clean and sanitize everything, what a mess that was, I pray it never happens again.

We are having the worst luck with our plumbing issues lately, it is a good thing that Hubby is a plumber and can do many things on his own, rather than pay some one else to do it.

Saturday = Shopping

Saturday seems to go by so quickly. We wake up early and head out to get all the errands and shopping done that we don’t have the time or energy to deal with during the week after work. Thankfully the shopping center where we buy groceries and the shopping mall are both just down the road from our house – not even a 10 minute drive.Today we spent more time and therefore, more money, in the mall than we planned. Thank goodness hubby brought all the credit cards with him so we could get everything done. We try to use the credit cards for all our shopping except groceries, and we use a debit card for those. I don’t think we actually spend much cash anymore.

Any store that doesn’t take credit cards yet should definitely look into adding credit card processing to their services. It won’t be long before no one carries cash anymore, and if they store doesn’t take credit cards they won’t be making any sales.

Today’s Inauguration

I’m glad that I got the opportunity to watch a good amount of today’s historical Inauguration on the television. They provided us with a TV at work, so that we would and could watch the events that were being televised, instead of on our computers that have Internet access, which I figured was a pretty smart move on their part. We continued to be productive at our desks while being given the chance to see history in the making during normal working hours.

Kudos to management for today’s effort, something that I generally don’t’ get a chance to say about most of them.
