My husband and I had time alone since both of the kids were at friends houses for the night, so we took a walk in the park and seen actions that unfortunately happens a lot. A black man was laying down on one the benches that was near the walk way and a white man walked by him while were as well, just the opposite way of him though, and had heard the white man call the black man an N-Word, and told him to get a job.
He just kept going off with these awful words to use to anyone, especially someone you don’t even know. I think it is so outrageous how people treat one another these days still, why cant people just accept the fact that we are all living beings, and need to start treating each other with equal respect. Why be ignorant for any reason?
You think gas is expensive here in the U.S., you should see how much……
I know that every time we Americans whine about the cost of gas, someone will pipe up with the cost of gas in Europe is so much higher – that was the first thing that came out my my Hubby’s mouth a year or so ago when the price was once again starting to climb up drastically, it’s so expensive they sell it by the liter instead of the gallon, yadda yadda yadda.
Well, it’s too expensive here in the US and it is also too expensive in Europe. They had a huge truckers strike last month to make that point. I’m concerned that we are getting close to seeing the same thing here, as the cost of diesel is even higher than the $4 a gallon gasoline. If the truckers start causing shortages, the cost of everything will sky rocket.
I’m getting really nervous about how the cost of gas is going to affect us all and our quality of life in America. Might be a good time to make moves toward more self sufficiency and stocking up on essentials – just in case. Thoughts to ponder over.
Bush appears on ‘Deal’ to thank a contestant (and war vet)
I can’t believe that I missed this, bummer!
Fri Apr 18, 8:02 PM ET
A presidential thank-you is part of the deal for a contestant on NBC’s game show, “Deal or No Deal,” when President Bush makes a surprise appearance.
The episode, airing Monday, features Capt. Joseph Kobes, as he attempts to win enough cash to pay off his parents’ home. But the dealmaking is briefly halted for Kobes, a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient who has served in Iraq three times. Bush surprises him by appearing on a screen to express gratitude for his service and wish him luck in the game.
Bush’s message was taped at the White House.
The game of odds, hosted by Howie Mandel, calls for a contestant to predict the amount of cash contained in any of 26 sealed briefcases. The top prize for guessing correctly is $1 million.
No details were released on how Kobes, an Army transportation officer from Sumner, Wash., fared in his quest for the jackpot.
Myspace madness
I had recently watched on the news that a teenage girl was brutally attacked and badly beaten all starting with Myspace. Myspace if you haven’t heard, is a website on the Internet allowing everyone and to make a profile about themselves and chat with friends, family, and everyone else in the world. Well I think Myspace from the looks of it, is a bad ideal to have simply because of all the beating and rapes that happen all starting with Myspace. Something must be done here before anything else can happen. My oldest daughter got her MySpace up and running about a year ago and now the youngest one wants one, don’t know if that will happen!
BIG Boxing news!
It appears that Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told ESPN.com Wednesday. that last spring box office records were shattered when Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya met, says that they are close to finishing a deal for a rematch scheduled for either September 13th or the 20th of 2008, which will be viewed on HBO pay-per-view.
And guess what Hubby wants for his Father’s Day present this year, yes he wants some Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. tickets even though they haven’t even decided where this main event will take place. Hubby says that it doesn’t matter where it will be held, that he will get there come hell or high water and that you can purchase the tickets already at on the web-site of .
I can’t say that I blame him, he has been an avid boxing fan since he was a little boy when he and his Dad would stay up late on nights that any boxing match was been shown on television.
I guess I better check it out and see if I can scrape up a little bit of extra cash so that I can make Hubby’s wish come true, it isn’t often that he ever tells me of anything that he wants for a gift on any of the many occasions that I have to give him something!
Nice weather for the Pope’s visit
It was a bit chilly today for the Pope’s arrival into our nations capitol, Washington D.C., on T.V. the wind was seen blowing the women’s dresses all over and several hats went flying away and the Pope had to grab the garment that he wears on his head so it wouldn’t take off in the wind.
The weather man says that we are in for some very nice weather for the next couple of days. Tomorrow we should see the 60’s, the next day the 70’s and the following day there is talk of almost hitting the 80 degree mark, now that is what I’m talking about.
We may even have a rain free weekend, we haven’t had one of those in a few weeks. As much as we need the rain, I wish it would do it during the week and not on the weekends, but I know that is a large request.
The Pope has arrived safely
The biggest news story of the week seems to be the arrival of the Pope in Washington D.C. it seems every channel is running some kind of special about his first visit to the U.S. as the Pope.
They are showing him getting out of the plane after an 8 hour long flight, he seemed very fit and not as tired out as one would think a 80 year old man would be after spending that much time traveling, although I’m sure he traveled first class all the way which makes the trip at bit easier on a person.
They say that tomorrow is his 81st birthday and he will be spending the entire day at the White House with the Bush’s in private quarters, I can think of a lot worse places that one could spend their birthday at, that is for sure.
One thing amused me that they were saying about him is that he is the first Pope to have in his own Ipod and that he has a lot of music on it like Beethoven, Bach and all of the other classic classical artists also.
He has a full schedule ahead of him and I’m sure we will all be hearing all the details soon enough.
