Students

Here we are in the last month of public school The kids are ready to get out of their classrooms and out on the beaches and parks for their summer break.

My kids have always loved school, but they love their vacation time more. I am trying to think of some good things to do over the summer break that will interest them and keep them busy.

In the meantime, the teachers are still trying to teach these kids a few things. I know that my kids are still bring home an hour or more of homework each night and still have some books to finish reading.

Have a Blessed Easter

Easter

Will I see you tomorrow morning for the Easter Sunrise service? If you only go to church once a year, I think the Easter Sunrise service is the one time you should go. It is so inspiring and so worth the early alarm setting.

My Sister Drives Me Crazy!

My sister is a lot older than me, so we were never really close while growing up. She got married right away and moved out of the area with her new husband, who my parents could not stand. So I have not really had the advantages of being sisters with her.

But now that we are older, I was hoping we could rekindle a relationship. After all, we are family. But it can be days, if not weeks, before she returns my phone calls and emails. I hope it is because she is just very busy with her family, but I wonder if she just doesn’t even want a sister in her life?

End of a Decade

I can’t believe it is just one more day and then we are ending the first decade of the new millennium. What an exciting time to be young and healthy. We have great potential for the next 10 years. I’m taking up the challenge to make this next decade the best one for me and for my loved ones.

I’m so very much looking forward to happy, healthy and prosperous times for us in 2011.

If it’s not one thing, it’s another

We had a major back up with our water system that made a complete and total mess that took forever to clean up. Well, at least it was clean water and not the sewer.

It was a few minutes ago when I went to the basement to do a few loads of laundry, when I found that my washer and dryer are not at all working! My husband came down to take a look at it, and had told me that we needed to get a new washer and dryer, Ugh! If it’s not one thing, it’s another unfortunately. Guess I need to go on-line and start comparison shopping right away with the amount of laundry that this family goes through!

My friend now has her own blog

My long time best friend, Rachel, listens to me as I talk on and on at times about my blogging and she has finally consented to give it and try, which tickles me pink! She has been doing it for over three weeks now, posting sometimes a couple of posts a day.

She was frantic when her PC crashed for 2 days, she had to get her son to come over and work his computer magic and got it back up and running, good as new. During her down time we spent several hours on the phone, which has become something that we don’t do much anymore since we rely on email and Instant Messengers so much.

Anyway, Rachel is once again happy to be back blogging, she has found it to be as therapeutic as I have, let’s you release some of your negative energy onto the keyboard and feel better after doing so. So a new blogger has been born, Welcome, Rachel!

Hope for my sister’s finances

I believe that I have written a bit about my one sister who’s husband was injured in a automobile accident, not one that was his fault, his injuries have kept him in treatment, therapies, medicated and out of work, and not receiving one thin dime during this whole time. I believe the accident was last October or so, that is a long time not to be receiving any type of monies on which to pay bills and feed his family, they are pretty much in dire straights at this point and my poor sister is beside herself with him home 24/7 and miserable most of that time. Doesn’t sound like any type of fun at all.

This has been devastating on their whole family and it has to come to an end sooner or later.

Playing in the rain

This weather has made it a challenge for the kids to be playing outside, enjoying their summer vacation from school. We have been experiencing severe thunder and lightening storms, but the temperature is still on the high side of being in the 90’s and all of the kids and their friends what to go outside and jump on the trampoline and play outside.

I remember as a kid, my mother never allowed us to play in the rain, never, I guess she was afraid of one of us getting sick and then the rest of us would get sick and then my mother would have to deal with all of these sick kids.

I on the other hand encourage my kids to go outside and play in the rain, as long as it isn’t the least bit chilly and that there isn’t any lightening going on. I believe there is no reason in the world for them not to unless they would become wet and cold from it. But a good play in the nice warm rain when it is hot outside is good for everybody, that is my story and I’m sticking with it.

So when all of the kids are whining about it raining out and them not being able to play outside, I tell them go ahead and go and have a blast doing it, just be careful.

Kids

It never ceases to amaze me how my children can irritate me one minute and then bring tears of joy to my eyes the next. My youngest, bless her soul, is starting in on her teen years as a preteen with attitude. Not a mean or nasty attitude, more of an attitude along the lines of,  ” I can’t be bothered!”. Which can drive a mother nuts when you’re trying to get then to do something like simple chores.

But just when you reach the end of your rope they do something sweet and unexpected like helping out without being asked, or just asking what can they do to help ease the burden. Our youngest cleaned up the living room and the bathroom without being asked to do so. When I approached her on it she said, “Mom, it needed to be done and you looked tired, so I did it so you wouldn’t have to worry about it later.”

I love my kids, they’re good kids.

Weeding the garden

Since we have been getting a bit of rain everyday for the past week, hubby and I haven’t spent any time in the garden, but the rain has held off for two days now and we ventured outside today to have a look at it and we were both shocked with what we found. Our garden no longer resembled a garden, it had taken on the look of a small jungle, in just over a weeks time of daily rain and no chance for weeding, our garden kept us both busy for several hours this afternoon of back breaking picking and weeding.

We both came inside soaking wet with sweat and filthy dirty, with a major thirst for 2 large cold glasses of sweet iced tea, of which we both guzzled down instantly and was ready for more.

It was worth all of the effort because now we can see that the garden is producing, we saw several small tomatoes on the vines and some things that we aren’t sure of what they are.  Looks like the garden will do us well this year, I sure hope so!
