A Starting Harmonica?

I really didn’t know that there was even a “starting harmonica” on the market! But then I certainly know everything when it comes to today’s musical instruments. It’s just weird that coming from a very musical family that is still multiplying that I wouldn’t have at least heard about it or read about it online somewhere!

Be that as it may, I managed to find a great last minute deal with a starting harmonica so that I would have it in time to take over to my sister’s house for the “Family 4th of July Holiday Dinner”. This is the first year that my sister has hosted such a large friend and family gathering (we are expecting about 26 people) so I have been trying to help her with some of her personal 4th of July gift shopping errands. It’s been a blessing that we live so close together and are on good terms at the moment.

Japanese Animation

My youngest has gotten into many things that I have absolutely no knowledge or background about. She has been reading and watching numerous Japanese animation books, TV shows, and movies. She has taken the time to show me one of the sites that she goes online for,  she showed me a page concerning Bleach Manga, who is character she has been following lately and I found quite interesting to read.

At least she is reading, it is a real challenge trying to get her to read just about everything. I don’t get it, hubby and I are both avid readers, while neither of our children want to pick up a book, except for the Japanese Animation books that are becoming more popular these days.

I went to the bookstore a few months back to see if they had any of these types of books that she is learning to enjoy, I was surprised at how many that they had. The young lady that was assisting me with locating them and then explaining them for me, told me that I was lucky that she was working the floor at that time because she was the only one in the whole store that read and knew anything about them. She was very friendly and helpful, I was certainly glad that she was working then also because I was way out of my field.

Reddi Whip

When I was a little girl my mother would buy cans of Reddi Whip whipped cream. We would have a dessert after almost every dinner because my dad loved dessert. We always saved room for dessert! We used Reddi Whip on a lot of the desserts.

Sometimes dessert was as simple as a little cup of Breyer’s ice cream. Mom would squirt some Reddi Whip on top and put a maraschino cherry or little sugar sprinkles on it. At least once a week we would have some kind of pie and once a week we would have some kind of cake. In between those we might have Jello with Reddi Whip squirted on top.

My favorite pie is pumkpin pie withsome Reddi Whip on it. How about yours?

My love affair with chocolate

As I’ve written before about my newly found love, once again, for chocolate, I have decided that I am going to start looking around for new treats for me to try out, and what better way to search, than the Internet of course.

I have been looking around and bookmarking several websites that look appealing and that I will consider making a purchase at. Can’t say I was surprised in how responses I got when I Googled, “chocolate,” but it did take just a bit of time to get to some organized and placed into a folder for further research.

The one that I have decided that I am going to order from first is from a company called Gertrude Hawk they are a company out of Pennsylvania, actually I’m surprised that I have not heard of them before.

Cousin Emailed Me

I have so many cousins running around out there, all scattered all across the United States, not to many have stuck around the Virginia area at all. I have this one cousin who I became close with in my teen years because he played in a band, I used to go and listen and dance my heart out – this was in the 80’s, disco was in it’s peek and I loved it.

Anyway we have drifted apart, but have managed to keep in touch via email, but I haven’t heard from him in years so I was surprised to hear from him all of a sudden. Seems he just wanted to touch base with me, he had heard a song on the radio that reminded him of the days of disco and he thought of me.

He seems to be doing all right for himself, still not married even once, and I’m sure he is in his mid fifties, how odd, I don’t think he is gay, but one never knows, and I’m not asking.  He is now living in Texas, close to where his folks ended up living after retirement, and just got a new job at a big Lumber company that produces a wide selection of treated wood products, such as pressure treated lumber for construction, he sent me the website for Pacific Wood so I could see what the company is all about.  It seems like a place that he will do well in, he used to work for a company like that when he lived in Winchester, Virginia.  So I know he knows his wood, I just wonder if he still plays the drums, I’ll have to ask him next email.

Pulling my hair out

It has been such a blah day today that I have no idea what would lift my spirits up and pull me out of this mood that I’m in. My son wanted me to take him to his friends house earlier and I couldn’t just for the fact that I didn’t want to move what so ever because of this down mood I’m in. I think I’m going to take multivitamins from now on, it usually helps out a little bit. So I do believe I’ll be heading to GNC, which is at our local mall, here shortly to pick some up. We all have our bad days but I try very hard to limit mine because my family needs me so very much.

Woodwind and Brasswind Instruments

The bass clarinet stands that I have been eyeballing are now being offered at %15 with a promo code, that’s along with free shipping. I have been looking for a new stand for a few months now. I can’t wait until my tax refund check arrive later this month, so I’ve gotten to know my way around the various websites that have musical instruments for sale. So far WWBW (Woodwind & Brasswind) has the best selection, they have new and/or used items, and if I use the promo code I can get it at one heck of a good price.

Come on Uncle Sam!!!

My Sons Birthday is Coming Up!

My sons birthday is coming up soon and I’m trying to make it to where I can afford his birthday gifts and throw somewhat of a decent party for him this year. He seems to really enjoy his new PlayStation 3 we had gotten him this past Christmas and has had his eye on a few new games that have recently came out. So today I am going to try to shop for the coolest games I can come across that I think he will really enjoy playing over and over, instead of getting tired of them after one time of playing them and never touching them ever again.

I also would like to find a cake with his favorite cartoon character, Sponge Bob on it, and make arrangement’s for it to be ready the day before his party. I have already found invitations he loves with Power Rangers all over them, and have already sent them out to the parents of his friends. I’m hoping to get all RSVP’s in the next week so I can make plans on all activities for the children on the day of his party. I am really hoping that the day of his party, it will be a nice sunny day out so we have more options on the activities we are selecting.

We All Love Cupcakes!

I have found the perfect gift to give to my mother for Mother’s Day I usually just send her a nice vase of springtime flowers that she loves so much, but upon surfing the Web, I came across a site that has a really great product called Cup a Cake Cupcake Holders. These holders have in each container these plastic “prongs” that keep the cupcake from moving around thus keeping all of that delicious frosting from getting messed up, which never seems to fail from happening.

My mother is a very busy women that attends all kinds of Women’s Club activities that always need a dessert or side dish to be brought along, and mother has a great recipe for cup cakes that she uses a lot so I think that she will really enjoy this new product idea and will get much use out of it.  This cool website is definitely going to be bookmarked for future use, they have some very unusual and unique gifts that I would like to keep in mind for the Christmas holidays that will be here before you know it.

How To Remove A Tick

Please forward to anyone with children… or hunters or dogs, or anyone who even steps outside in summer!!

A School Nurse has written the info below — good enough to share, And it really works!! I had a pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick. This is great, because it works in those places where it’s some times difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc.

Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time I’ve used it (and that was frequently), and it’s much less traumatic for the patient and easier for me.  Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can’t see that this would be damaging in any way. I even had my doctor’s wife call me for advice because she had one stuck to her back and she couldn’t reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately called me back to say, ‘It worked!’

**Please pass on. Everyone needs this helpful hint.**
