Crazy Weathermen

We are trying to make plans for the week-end but the weathermen won’t make up their minds.

At first they were saying that it will rain on Sunday, then it changed to Sunday evening/Monday morning, now they are saying Sunday again, ugh, it makes it hard to plan things this way.

My youngest wants to invite her girlfriends over for a sleep over and I would like to take them to the park and possibly go creek walking with them. We love finding a creek and then walking in and around it while following where it takes us, we have been doing it for years now and the girls really enjoy it. We find all kinds of interesting things along the way and the girls get to see first hand how awful people are about littering, the creek is almost always full of all kinds of trash, which makes us very sad indeed. It ends up a learning experience for all of us in some way or another it seems.

Nice weather for the Pope’s visit

It was a bit chilly today for the Pope’s arrival into our nations capitol, Washington D.C., on T.V. the wind was seen blowing the women’s dresses all over and several hats went flying away and the Pope had to grab the garment that he wears on his head so it wouldn’t take off in the wind.

The weather man says that we are in for some very nice weather for the next couple of days. Tomorrow we should see the 60’s, the next day the 70’s and the following day there is talk of almost hitting the 80 degree mark, now that is what I’m talking about.

We may even have a rain free weekend, we haven’t had one of those in a few weeks. As much as we need the rain, I wish it would do it during the week and not on the weekends, but I know that is a large request.

The Pope has arrived safely

The biggest news story of the week seems to be the arrival of the Pope in Washington D.C.  it seems every channel is running some kind of special about his first visit to the U.S. as the Pope.

They are showing him getting out of the plane after an 8 hour long flight, he seemed very fit and not as tired out as one would think a 80 year old man would be after spending that much time traveling, although I’m sure he traveled first class all the way which makes the trip at bit easier on a person.

They say that tomorrow is his 81st birthday and he will be spending the entire day at the White House with the Bush’s in private quarters, I can think of a lot worse places that one could spend their birthday at, that is for sure.

One thing amused me that they were saying about him is that he is the first Pope to have in his own Ipod and that he has a lot of music on it like Beethoven, Bach and all of the other classic classical artists also.

He has a full schedule ahead of him and I’m sure we will all be hearing all the details soon enough.

Youngest is a “Pre-teen” OMG

My youngest daughter is now 12 and is considered a “Pre-teen” and today it really hit me.  Last night she asked what time I was scheduled to work today and wanted to know if she could come along with her two friends so that they could go malling together.  I am not interested at all with her going malling, the mall isn’t the safest place for young ladies, but since I will be there and one of the other girl’s mom will be working there also I decided to let her come, along with her friends.

I was at the cash register which is in the front of the store where I can see what is going on in the mall.  My three girls where there waving at me and then walked away, just a few moments later I see three boys, all much older than 12, take a second look at the girls and then they turned around to follow them.  When I saw that I freaked and went out into the mall to make sure that my girls were safe, and that is when I realized that my baby girl isn’t such a baby anymore, she is developing into a very pretty young lady, and it scares the *&%#@*% out of me.  Her two other friends both have started developing a while back, that is O.K. with me, but I just am not ready for mine to be going through all of that, next thing you know she will be starting her monthly period and I will surely have a hard time dealing with that.

Everybody’s Talking Part III

Baby factory: Catherine Delgado is a regular baby factory. The mother from Swansea, Wales, has given birth to seven children in the last five and a half years. The 35-year-old woman gave birth to her first child in 2001 and her second child in 2003. But the, a year later, she had twins. In 2007, three years after the twins arrived, Catherine had triplets. “It’s been absolutely shocking,” she says of her maternal record. Catherine, who owns a maid service, and her husband Juan, a maintenance worker, are over the shock now. “we are just thrilled about having three more children.”

I discovered that there is a restaurant that I really love is close by to where my sister moved last year.  I haven’t eaten there in over eight years, so last time I visited my sister, I stopped in an enjoyed a fabulous meal, that is where I picked up the copy of Coffee News that I have quoted lately.  It is a small flyer with advertising and interesting tid-bits that is fun to read anytime.

Everybody’s Talking II

Scary flight: Nicky Moss was training for a paragliding competition in Canberra, Australia, when two eagles attacked her parachute. She was soaring 8,200 feet in the air when the birds started swooping at the nylon, tearing it with their talons. “They launched a sustained attack on my glider,” says Moss, 38. Things got more terrifying when one of the birds crashed into the back of her head and then got tangled in the lines and the canopy collapsed. She fell about 1,500 feet before she was able to regain control and the bird escaped and flew away. Amazingly, Moss landed unharmed.

Two shows for daughter and me to watch

My youngest and I like for me to record on Wednesday evenings two shows for us to enjoy watching together at a later time of our choosing.  The two shows are SuperNanny and Wife Swap they both kind of go hand in hand, both are reality shows and both allow you to see what goes on in other people’s houses, family and work situations.  I guess maybe it makes us feel better about how our family gets along together and we are not nearly as messed up as these poor creatures seem to be.  It is a given that a man will be brought to tears on Wednesday evening, we just don’t know which show it will be done on. Pretty weird that we enjoy waiting to see which man is going to blubber like a baby on National T.V. for the whole entire world to see.

Hubby can’t stand watching either one of these shows, so it turns out to be a time for just her and I together with Hubby in the other room watching either the news or some kind of wrestling or boxing along with the dog to keep him company.

Kerr Lake

Some of the guys in our Harley Club want to go on a weekend ride to Kerr Lake next month. Although it is only a couple of hours south from here, I don’t think I’ve ever been there. We always seem to go east to the Atlantic beaches or we used to go north to my parent’s house on the river.

We are thinking about taking over the campgrounds at Cripple Creek. They have cabins and facilities for cookouts. They are also close to boat ramps and can make arrangement for boat rentals. It’s a little rustic but it’s only for one weekend.

We would like to stay at the state park, but they don’t allow any alcohol, so we have to find a different campground. I guess that’s my research project for the afternoon.

Monday Night Wrestling for him & A Bubble Bath for me!

Monday nights are my night off because Hubby and our youngest are normally glued to the television watching their favorite wrestlers beat on each other.  I’m glad our son watches it with Hubby because if he didn’t that would mean that I would have to sit and try and watch it.  I’d rather be doing something else, thank you.

I am still trying to get in as much reading as I can, taking a nice hot buble bath late in the evening with a good book I have found, is a nice way to end the day, plus it makes it easier for me to ease off to sleep.  So on Monday evenings I can count on being able to do just that while the guys, in the living room keep up with all the drama going on with America’s newest wrestling pro’s.

And off I go…….

Survivor is back

Hubby and I have such different tastes in what we watch on the boob tube.  One of the very few shows that we both enjoy has been the Survivor series.  We have watched it since day one and still enjoy watching together when we can, and thank goodness for TIVO.

This season is different because it is pitting up a tribe consisting of regular people that are fans of the show against a tribe consisting of previous Survivor contestants from the past years.  Every season they find a way to change things around just enough so that it keeps things fresh and from becoming a bore.

A few years ago the kids and I were at a local parade and for some reason I was under the bleachers when I ran into “Tom” a Survivor contestant, a farmer from the southern part of Virginia, he was there because he was being featured in the parade, he was of course wearing his blue jean overalls and was very friendly, shook my hand, chatted a moment or two and went on his way, towards the back, probably to the Don’s Johns.

I know there are a lot of people that dislike the show but it has kept us entertained for several years and I hope that they can keep up the good work.
