You think gas is expensive here in the U.S., you should see how much……

I know that every time we Americans whine about the cost of gas, someone will pipe up with the cost of gas in Europe is so much higher – that was the first thing that came out my my Hubby’s mouth a year or so ago when the price was once again starting to climb up drastically, it’s so expensive they sell it by the liter instead of the gallon, yadda yadda yadda.

Well, it’s too expensive here in the US and it is also too expensive in Europe. They had a huge truckers strike last month to make that point. I’m concerned that we are getting close to seeing the same thing here, as the cost of diesel is even higher than the $4 a gallon gasoline. If the truckers start causing shortages, the cost of everything will sky rocket.

I’m getting really nervous about how the cost of gas is going to affect us all and our quality of life in America. Might be a good time to make moves toward more self sufficiency and stocking up on essentials – just in case. Thoughts to ponder over.

Mexico is this year’s reunion for sister to attend

My sister has all the luck, it seems at times anyway. Her hubby’s family meets every single year for a reunion of sorts, and they move around to a different location every year. The family usually gets a fantastic deal through a friend or a family member, for their accommodations, this is a huge family that has plenty of connections all over the world so they get to go to some really awesome places for their get togethers.

This year they are holding the event in Mexico, at the Rocky Point beach area, she tells me that this year they are looking into some Rocky Point rental homes for their use this time around and she sent me a couple of links to some web-sites about the area, so that I can share in her excitement of this years fun in the sun!  I can’t help but be a bit envious of them all.

I hope that it all works out well and that none of her kids, her husband or her get sick at the last minute and end up missing this years fun. One year they couldn’t go at the last minute because a couple of her kids and her hubby caught a bug the day before leaving and so the whole family had to miss that years fun in New Orleans. And as I have always told her, if one or two of her kids get sick she can bring them here to recuperate, I can look after them so that the rest of them would be able to go and enjoy themselves without worrying about the sick kids and all. That is what sisters do isn’t it?

Son is passionate about his games and game guides

My youngest is so totally into the video games, whether it be Nintendo, PlayStation, XBox or any other ones that have come out lately that I haven’t yet learned about through listening to him go on and on about with such excitement and joy. He is really good at them and I do believe that their is a learning value that goes along with the entertainment part of it, but we won’t go into all of that right now.

I’m glad that he is passionate about these things and happy that he has found something that will keep him busy and happy for some time.

Gas was holding at $3.99

Sunday being Father’s Day, we took the kids and we headed down to Hubby’s parent’s homestead for a nice visit with the family. All went well, everyone behaved, kids and adults both. The weather was nice enough so that being outside for a good amount of the day was tolerable, sitting in the house all day is too much to ask so many people in such a small house and all.

The drive down there is almost a two hour drive and we passed numerous gas stations and we noticed on the drive down how every single gas station had priced their gasoline at $3.99, it appeared as if no one wanted to be the first to hit the big 4 dollar mark. I thought it odd that every single station would have the exact price, that has never, ever happened before, there is usually a wide variety of prices being displayed by all of the different companies.

On the way home we made sure to look at every station and indeed it was the case. I wonder what their prices are today, now that people are home after the Father’s Day holiday is over. Usually the companies raise the price right before a holiday – this holiday was just totally out of character for such a business.

1st Day of Summer Vacation

The whole house got the opportunity to sleep without any alarm clock going off this morning, up until 9:45 when the phone ran, which was picked up quickly by one of the kids upstairs. The house was quiet once again and one by one around noon, you could hear the opening and the closing of doors, and the toilets flushing and some dishes rattling here and there.

It was a nice way to spend the first day of our kids official summer vacation, too bad the phone had to ring, but at least it wasn’t too early.

Not worth the price

Yesterday I had about $40 left over from paying bills and buying groceries, so I figured I’d pamper myself a bit with it. I got my nails done, a French Manicure and also a Pedicure, and honestly think it wasn’t worth the price I paid for the whole process. I actually paid an extra $20 for the pedicure and ended hating how my nails and toenails looked. It was nice to get pampered up after so long, but it wasn’t worth hassle at all, I know next time it’ll be for something more useful.

Hungry

I have been starving all morning just because I haven’t had anytime to sit down and at least try to enjoy a meal. Every time I get a chance to myself one of my kids needs me, or my husband needs to talk to me, or whatever. I mowed half the lawn here, made breakfast and lunch so far, washed dishes, did laundry, paid my bills, took my daughter to cheer leading this morning and also took my son with me to go grocery shopping. I have had a very long day, so I’m going to go to a fast food restaurant in a minute and grab something for myself so this headache will go away.

New House Equipment

Like I was saying my washer and dryer broke, so today Hubby and I are going to go shopping for a new washer and dryer. I had checked on the Internet to look up a few places that have great sales going on, so we can save as much as possible, seeing it’s about to be my sons birthday in a few weeks. The prices on these things are outrageous, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I looked at a single washer, and saw that it’s about $600! We’ll have to see what’s out there before we start purchasing the first thing we see, wish us luck.
