Sheetz Card

If you have a Sheetz gas and convenience center around where you live and haven’t gotten your Sheetz card I would like to encourage you to go ahead and sign up for one. You save 3 cents a gallon when you use your card as well as discounts and freebies galore. With the price of everything continuing to go up and up you have to take advantage of savings when you can.

Leap Year Birthday Boys

Every year I start looking for Leap Year Birthday cards to send to the to guys that were born on February 29th, Leap Year. It seems to me that there is a need for Leap Year Birthday cards and that the greeting card companies would realize this and offer the good folks that only get to celebrate their true birthday date once every four years a decent Leap Year birthday card.

New Face Book

I am one of the few that doesn’t get all up in arms about the changes that Face Book has been enduring lately. None of the changes have been all that significant as far as I’m concerned. And this latest change, this “TIMELINE” is pretty cool if you ask me, it didn’t take me but a few minutes to figure it all out so these folks that are screaming bloody murder about the new “TIMELINE” are just being silly.

Sheetz Gas

I’m glad that the Sheetz gas stations around here have started a new customer loyality card for their loyal customers such as myself. Even though they generally have the cheapest gas around it will be nice to get 3 cents off each gallon that I pump from now on as long as I use my new Sheetz card that I just signed up for. It will also give me various discounts on some of their food and drink items and I’m all for that!

Corn Fields & Their Mazes

A few years ago I heard about a local farmer who took his tractor out in the corn field and cut a series of paths in the stalks. He had a particular design planned out, and when he was finished he sent his kids out to find their way through the maze. When they got out the other side there was a prize waiting for the first one out. They loved it and told their friends and next thing you know they had a bunch of people wanting to go through the maze, too .Now all of a sudden a bunch of farmers had picked up on that idea and are cutting mazes into their corn fields and then charging admission for people to come try to find their way out. It’s actually a fun way for a family to spend together doing something outside in the fresh air and supporting the local farmers who could use a few extra bucks considering all that they have to go through trying to make a living off a farm.

If you have one in your area go ahead and give it a try. I bet you have a nice time and you could probably use the exercise, too!

Saturday = Shopping

Saturday seems to go by so quickly. We wake up early and head out to get all the errands and shopping done that we don’t have the time or energy to deal with during the week after work. Thankfully the shopping center where we buy groceries and the shopping mall are both just down the road from our house – not even a 10 minute drive.Today we spent more time and therefore, more money, in the mall than we planned. Thank goodness hubby brought all the credit cards with him so we could get everything done. We try to use the credit cards for all our shopping except groceries, and we use a debit card for those. I don’t think we actually spend much cash anymore.

Any store that doesn’t take credit cards yet should definitely look into adding credit card processing to their services. It won’t be long before no one carries cash anymore, and if they store doesn’t take credit cards they won’t be making any sales.

Today’s Inauguration

I’m glad that I got the opportunity to watch a good amount of today’s historical Inauguration on the television. They provided us with a TV at work, so that we would and could watch the events that were being televised, instead of on our computers that have Internet access, which I figured was a pretty smart move on their part. We continued to be productive at our desks while being given the chance to see history in the making during normal working hours.

Kudos to management for today’s effort, something that I generally don’t’ get a chance to say about most of them.

Flea Marketing, Even in the Coldest Weather

For a free copy of “Retailers Forum Magazine,” which sells discounted wholesale items for small businesses, flea marketing and online sales, you can go online at RetailersForum.com. They have been helping people earn money through the recession of the 1980’s and the 1990’s and are still there during this “Depression” that we are experiencing now. People are turning to making extra money and flea markets are the way to go.

Even during the coldest weather I see people at the local flea market, I like to go but I prefer warmer weather conditions, so that I can see everything, take my time, stop and talk and get some exercise all at once.

Wal Mart

It is sad news to hear that so many large established retail companies are going out of business, filing for bankruptcy, and closing their doors. Big companies like Circuit City and Linens & Things, sad and scary news.

The big story is that Wal Mart is the only store that is making money at this point. Retail sales are way down this holiday season, but good old Wal Mart is fairing better than the rest and making the all might dollars like crazy. That just doesn’t sit well with me for some reason, what a mess we have gotten into.

IP Addresses and your computer

I have to tell you that I am pretty familiar with computers, we have had a PC in the house for over twelve years, at least, but who is counting? Hubby and I both use computers and work and of course we use it quite a bit a home for all kinds of reasons, email being the most important.

But when it comes to the complicated issues over and above are basic needs neither one of us really have a limited knowledge of a lot of things. I do have a brother who is a computer whiz, if any family member needs assistance, he is the one that we call.

Over the family Thanksgiving dinner, that was held a few weeks ago, we heard my brother discussing computer issues with another family member, which caught my husband’s attention and he ended up sitting in on the conversation, which included the topic of IP addresses and the like.

It appears that the IP address is very important to some people so that they can identify their visitors geographical location, their country, their zip code, time zone, connection speed and much more. This is fascinating information that hubby and I were completely unaware of and has us wanting to learn more. My brother instructed my hubby to visit Ip2location.com, a website dedicated to IP address information, and it is full of good information that I think is worth while to pass on to others here.
