Winter is Back in All It’s Glory

Baby it’s cold outside!

Didn’t get much sleep last night Hubby was coughing up a storm and was tossing and turning most of the time, being the light sleeper that I have turned out to be, I didnt get much rest.  Looks like he will stay in the bed for the day, took his temp and he has a low grade fever, we need to get him healthy in time for the work week.  With freezing temperatures back a lot of pipes are going to freeze and the company he works for will have many jobs that need to be taken care of.

Speaking of the devil – I hear him calling out for more Jello, time to make up a batch of chicken soup, there is a lot to be said for the Jewish penicillin.

I hope that their are some things on the T.V. that will entertain him while I keep busy in the kitchen and dealing with the kids today.

Mobiles Underwater

It seems that a company has invented a way of putting a coating on mobile devices to make them repel water. It is called Ion Mask plasma surface enhancement made by P2I.

Although most of today’s devices have not been made with this coating applied, I’m thinking we are sure to see more sleek and less cracks in our next generation of mobile devices as a result of this technology. To think one day maybe people will be able to take their mobiles (cell phones, PDA, MP3’s, etc) in the shower and the tub with no fear of being shocked or the device not working anymore is awesome!

I am looking forward to getting my hands on one as soon as they hit the market, whenever that may be.

A little something for the blog

So happy to be blogging again, as you’ll soon find out I love to chit chat and talk about just anything.  I even made a category called “anything,” because there is so much of that in this world of mine.

Made a fabulous dinner tonight that would have made any 5 star chef jealous. Served lobster and T-Bones along with salad and the usual side dishes.

After dinner, hubby and I got together and played the new game system together for a couple of hours. Then I did some cleaning around the house and put the prince to bed. About an hour later, we were all counting sheep.

Happy Birthday, Elvis!

Elvis and Me

I’ve always loved Elvis. He deserved a better wife than that girl-child he brought back from Germany!

To celebrate Elvis’ birthday this year, I searched for info on his favorite foods.

Elvis loved good down-home cooking like what his mother served him as a child. His tastes never strayed far from Southern-style cooking. Grits, black-eyed peas, ham and bacon, fried chicken, cornbread, mashed potatoes and homemade country gravy were just a few of his favorites.

Elvis did not like exotic or foreign foods. Most of the foods he consumed were basic hearty foods, the type Southern women cooked daily for their families.

At Graceland or at his home in Beverly Hills, Elvis specified what should be kept on hand in the kitchen. Must-haves included fresh lean ground round, hamburger buns, rolls, pickles, potatoes, onions, fudge cookies, assorted fresh fruit, canned sauerkraut, mustard and peanut butter. His refrigerator also contained at least three bottles of milk or half and half, thin-sliced lean bacon, vanilla and chocolate ice creams and freshly squeezed orange juice. Pepsi, Nesbitt’s Orange and Shasta Black Cherry were his favorite soft drinks.

When the King was in residence at Graceland, also on hand were ingredients for his favorite snacks — brownies and banana pudding. Both were made daily by the kitchen staff.

Elvis made the fried peanut butter and banana sandwich famous. He called it a “peanut butter and ‘nanner’ sandwich.” He would ask that they be prepared for him at all hours of the day and night.  I could do that for you, Elvis.
