Chili, a 2 Day Event

The weather dropped about 20 degrees since this time last week. It’s old man winter in the air and soon the snow that we have been waiting for will be here, possibly later this week.Tonight I asked hubby if he would mind fixing a big pot of chili for dinner. He makes the best chili – I don’t know what all he puts in that pot, but it sure comes out tasting good.

We like the chili on the second day, too. Sometimes the flavors need that extra time to come out and mature. So Chili is a two day event for us.

Saturday = Shopping

Saturday seems to go by so quickly. We wake up early and head out to get all the errands and shopping done that we don’t have the time or energy to deal with during the week after work. Thankfully the shopping center where we buy groceries and the shopping mall are both just down the road from our house – not even a 10 minute drive.Today we spent more time and therefore, more money, in the mall than we planned. Thank goodness hubby brought all the credit cards with him so we could get everything done. We try to use the credit cards for all our shopping except groceries, and we use a debit card for those. I don’t think we actually spend much cash anymore.

Any store that doesn’t take credit cards yet should definitely look into adding credit card processing to their services. It won’t be long before no one carries cash anymore, and if they store doesn’t take credit cards they won’t be making any sales.

Today’s Inauguration

I’m glad that I got the opportunity to watch a good amount of today’s historical Inauguration on the television. They provided us with a TV at work, so that we would and could watch the events that were being televised, instead of on our computers that have Internet access, which I figured was a pretty smart move on their part. We continued to be productive at our desks while being given the chance to see history in the making during normal working hours.

Kudos to management for today’s effort, something that I generally don’t’ get a chance to say about most of them.

Personal Safety Devices

I’m thinking that it may be a good idea for either me or my parents to look into and buy pepper spray for my now teen aged kid sister. She only last week turned 13 and is just starting to get into the social scene, going to the mall with friends, attending a few parties here and there, well chaperoned I’m sure. But none the less I think that she should really consider carrying some type of personal safety device and know when and how to use it, if necessary.

I’m sure that we could find something useful online, and will look into it and speak with my mother about it next time we talk. I’m not there to keep a good eye out on her and it is a wacky world out there and she is a prime target at her age.

Inauguration Is In Full Swing

It seems that today’s kickoff concert today in Washington D.C. was a success and the start of the much talked about Inauguration is in full swing. After watching the games we settled in and watched the news, waiting for new on how our nation’s capitol was handling this event and it appears all is well and we have only just begun, this is going to go on for days.

Flea Marketing, Even in the Coldest Weather

For a free copy of “Retailers Forum Magazine,” which sells discounted wholesale items for small businesses, flea marketing and online sales, you can go online at RetailersForum.com. They have been helping people earn money through the recession of the 1980’s and the 1990’s and are still there during this “Depression” that we are experiencing now. People are turning to making extra money and flea markets are the way to go.

Even during the coldest weather I see people at the local flea market, I like to go but I prefer warmer weather conditions, so that I can see everything, take my time, stop and talk and get some exercise all at once.

Super Bowl 43

The Steelers have been kicking butt all season long, so I’m glad to see that they are headed for the Super Bowl this year. The game tonight was a good game, it certainly ended with an interesting twist, with an pretty serious injury right in the very last minutes of an exciting action packed game. It’s all good!

Back to School

The two week winter break will be over come Monday morning and the kids will be going back to school and life will settle down since the holiday season will be officially over and done with. I enjoy the kids being at home, don’t get me wrong, but when the weather is cold and wet and nasty as it has been, and we all end up being cooped up indoors it can get to be a real hassle after a while. Even with all of the Christmas presents that they received just a week or so ago, they’ve started getting a bit antsy and are ready to get out of the house and back into the classroom.
