Spring Cleaning

The warmer weather has got me itching to do some heavy duty house cleaning. I just love spring cleaning – I change out the bed linens, and the take down the curtains in the bedroom and living room, put out different pillows, and buy new placemats for the table. These little touches, plus a deep cleaning in each room makes my home looks and feel so nice and fresh!

Happy Birthday, Wendy!

One of my friends is having a birthday today. I know she writes a blog – she has been writing one much longer and more regularly than I ever have. So I thought a quick Happy Birthday to Wendy is in order. We got a cake for her at work, and we will be having that in the Board Room after lunch today. I love birthdays at work! They put everyone in a good mood. Or maybe its the cake?

Why No B Batteries?

All the batteries in my house are either AA or AAA for just about everything like the flashlights, my digital camera and the alarm clock. But there are also C batteries and D batteries. But why are there not any B batteries? I checked on Wikipedia and found out that there a lot more batteries than that, and yes, as a matter of fact, they do have a B battery:

Most commonly found within a European 4.5 volt lantern battery. Not to be confused with the vacuum tube B battery.

Thanks and Hate

My friend, Sheila, wrote a post on her blog yesterday that I though was about celebrating Thanksgiving, called “Giving Thanks?” but then after I read it, I realized that she makes some good points about how the Native American Indians might feel. I always thought that the first Thanksgiving was a good thing, but perhaps we did not get the whole story from our schoolbooks. I wonder if most Indians think that Thanksgiving was a day to celebrate? Or was it the beginning of their decimation as a race?

New Vacuum

Today’s vacuums are pretty much disposable, aren’t they? I buy a $50 vacuum at K-Mart just about once a year. I used to spend $200 for a vacuum and I still had to replace that every year. So now I just buy the $50 ones and put the other $150 towards something more fun.

Columbus Day

For some reason, I totally forgot that today is Columbus Day. When you work in retail, holidays don’t have the same meaning as the white collar office rats or the blue collar workers. It is the weekend for big sales on mattresses and a variety of clothing and jewelry items.

I don’t care about the sales right now. What bothered me was not being able to go to the bank and get some cash out. It wasn’t until I pulled up to the drive up window and noticed that all was dark and abandoned that I realized it was a holiday.

No Help

I used to think the ultimate luxury was a mani-pedi, but now I am realizing that the best thing that could happen to me is to have a maid come clean my entire place – top to bottom. I would love to have someone else deal with scrubbing, wiping and grease cutting. As much as I love a clean home, doing the cleaning is really getting tiresome.

Allergies

Something bad is in the air. When I stepped outside this morning I immediately felt bad. Seriously bad. Like I could not breathe. I started gagging and coughing and could not get my breath. I don’t know what is in the air this morning that wasn’t there yesterday, but whatever it is, I can’t deal with it.
