Spring Flowers

The best part of April is the Spring flowers. We have all kinds of flowers blooming in gardens, along driveways and on the hillsides as you drive down the back roads. One of my favorite flowers is the tulip.

As a child I was fascinated with stories about Holland and the fields of tulips with windmills. I would love to see that some day. If I ever get the chance to travel outside of the United States, I would love to go to the Netherlands.

She Did It

Susan Boyle knuckled under and got herself a makeover. Here is a before and after photo that I found. She says that she just went to the local village beauty shop and only paid about $50 for the cut and color. That’s less than it would cost here, so good for her!

Bad News

On my way to work this morning I stopped in at the gas station to see if the clerk was there or what was going on, since they did not open Sunday until after 3:00 pm in the afternoon.

Turns out that Miss Kay, the nice older lady who worked there, had slipped on the wet grass on her way to the car to go to work and she had broken her collarbone when she fell. The poor thing was left there laying on the ground for over an hour before anyone could get to her to help her.

She’s in the hospital for just a few days and then I suppose she’ll be sent back home. i don’t know who will be able to help her out around the house – she won’t be able to take care of herself or the house with a broken collarbone. That’s so sad.

No One There

Something was very wrong at the local gas station this morning. When I stopped by at 11:00, the door was locked and there were no lights on. They should have been open since 5:00 am, so I was very worried that something bad had happened to the nice older woman who usually works on Sundays.

Even the Sunday newspaper were left outside the door on the sidewalk, and some people had oviously been helping themselves to them. I took this photo to give it to the store manager so she could see how many papers were still there at 11 and maybe she could salvage some of that inventory.

Don’t Do It, Susan!

Everyone is talking about poor Susan Boyle needing a makeover. She is that wonderful singer who showed up in Britain’s version of American Idol and looked so frumpy that everyone was sneering. Then she started to sing and everyone was astonished and embarrassed at themselves for being such snobs.

Now a group of smarty pants has given Susan a digital makeover with the pointed suggestion that she needs to fix her hair like this. I say, don’t do it, Susan! Stay true to yourself and don’t turn shallow like the rest of Hollywood!

Hoppy Easter

I hope you have a Hoppy Easter, today. If the Easter Bunny finds your house, save some candy for me! I miss having little kids around to hunt for Easter Eggs and share their candies.

Bad Weather on Good Friday

This is Good Friday and a lot of people are out from school or off from work because of the Easter weekend. But the weather forecast has been really scarey today. There is the threat of tornadoes all through the South. I hope everyone I know is safe and sound today and that the weather has mercy on us. I just heard on the radio that there were several tornadoes touching down in the Nashville area and that one touched down west of Huntsville. So they are all around us today. Take care.

See Rock City

I’ve live in the South all my life, but I’ve never seen Rock City. I drive past it every once in a while when I get up around Chattannoga, but I’ve never made a trip to just see Rock City. I think we’ll have to do something about that soon.

April Fools Fun

Wow – this year we had lots of people pulling pranks on each other to celebrate April Fools Day. I have seen all kinds of jokes and pranks. I think the funniest one was someone glued a dollar bill on the sidewalk in front of the drug store. Then they stood a few feet away and laughed as people bent over to try to pick it up. As I was approaching the drug store entrance, someone else was already there trying to pick it up. So I didn’t fall for it but I shared the laughs.
