Monday is a Long Way from Friday

For some reason this Monday seems to be dragging on forever. I feel like its been three days of work, problems and interruptions all rolled into this one day. I hope the rest of the week is not like this. I don’t think I could bear it.

Is it just me? Or is everyone feeling a little stressed? Is it the time change to daylight saving time? Is it Easter coming? Is it all the pollen from the trees and grasses in Spring?

I don’t know, but usually I love Spring and Easter time, but right now I’m just anxious and worried and tired.

Playing Solitaire for Stress Relief

Do you remember when computers first came out and all the Windows-based computers had preloaded games n them, like Canfield and Minesweep?

I used to play the Canfield game for about 5 minutes every afternoon when I needed a mental health break. My boss would go ballistic if she came into my office and saw me playing solitaire. She would scream about cheating the company by wasting time playing games.

I would put up with her rants for a while, but honestly she wasted 10 times more time than I ever did. That bitch would take smoke breaks every hour or two, write poems to her boyfriend, and make long personal calls – all on company time.

I think that people are entitled to a short break during the day, whether you are stupid enough to stand outside in the cold and puff on a cigarette or choose to stay at your desk – still available to take phone calls and answer questions – and play a 5 minute solitaire game on the computer to help clear your mind and take away some of the stress from your day.

Busy Holidays

I am so exhausted and so busy at work. We have the week off after Christmas but we also have all the end of quarter and end of year things that have to be done before January 1. I don’t see how I can get it all done and still take the time off from work after Christmas.

PLEASE don’t make me come in over the Christmas break! I can’t bear it – the only thing keeping me going this month is the thought of one whole glorious week to sleep late and relax with family and friends. The holidays are a lot of stress and a lot of work, but we need some time to relax and enjoy the time, too.

Surprise at Lunch

Today we were in Nashville for another trade show and my boss came up for the day. He took two of us out to lunch at one of my favorite Nashville restaurants, the Sunset Grill.

Every time I eat there we see a celebrity. Today we saw Bo Bice and he was nice enough to let me get this photo of my boss standing with him. Bo is a really nice guy and I really like his songs, too. We took one of me with Bo, but it turned out crappy and I deleted it. Just my luck! Maybe another time . . .

Heading to Nashville

We have a 4 day convention in Nashville this week, so I’m driving up there tonight. The convention was going to be at the Opryland hotel, but it got flooded in May when Nashville had that terrible time with the Cumberland River flooding the downtown and hundreds of homes and businesses along the river. So we are having the convention at the Renaissance Hotel instead.

The best part is that I will get to see one of my college friends while I’m there. Alexa works in the Nashville suburbs and is going to drive downtown to meet me for lunch on Friday. I wish we had more time together, but this convention is a pretty full schedule.

Letterman vs Palin

Good grief. This Letterman joke and Palin overreacting is getting ridiculous. The Chicago Tribune site calls out for Letterman to offer a formal apology. His aired apology pretty much covered it. The joke was a joke. Palin needs to get over it. Her remarks to Matt Lauer this morning were out of line and typical of a redneck getting all het up over nothing.

I’m SOOOO glad that she is not our Vice President. I hate to think that this white trash hussy could have been one heartbeat away from actually being President and shaming us all. I’m not even a political activist. But my goodness, don’t you agree that this woman and her trashy family are a train wreck?

Man Bashing

943

I am sick of hearing all the girls at the office complaining about their husbands and boyfriends. The crap they put up with it totally unbelievable to me. I would kick a man to the curb before I would put up with the stuff I hear about in the break room.

I am starting to wonder if there are any decent men out there any more.

Hoppy Easter

I hope you have a Hoppy Easter, today. If the Easter Bunny finds your house, save some candy for me! I miss having little kids around to hunt for Easter Eggs and share their candies.

Coffe Shop Chat

streetcard2php

This morning I arrived downtown early for an appointment so I stopped by a coffee shop just a few doors down and had a nice cup of coffee. It was extremely quiet in the coffee shop – everyone but me had a laptop on the table in front of them and were busy clicking and tapping keys.

New Year’s Promise

This new year is supposed to be one of great change and new hope for America. I plan to incorporate that into my own life, too. I am going to seriously search for a new job and if that means that I have to move to another part of the country, so be it. I want to find a job that I am good at and enjoy doing, and not just be a paycheck that keeps me trapped in a dysfunctional office. I already have some great ideas. . . .

Here’s hoping that we all have a very Happy New Year!
