Memorial Day

We have the day off from work and a lot of people go away for a long weekend. This is Memorial Day Weekend, the unofficial start of summer for a lot of places.

I drove by the veterans cemetery in Madison and was happy to see a flag and red flowers at every one of the soldiers white granite headstones.

Mani Pedi

Now that I can wear shorts and flip flops, I’ll be paying more attention to my legs and feet. I have bought some new flip flops and also a nice pair of black sandals. So now I need to schedule a mani-pedi and get my feet ready for summer streets.

Belly Fat Be Gone

The women at work were talking about muffin tops and belly fat during the lunch break. It is depressing to see that all of us are gaining weight and its almost all centered in our middles.

I wonder if that is because we are so stressed out that we end up eating too much comfort food? There was a commercial for a weight loss product called Relacore that claims to help reduce belly fat. I saw the bottle on the shelf at the drug store last night and almost bought. But it costs $22 and you have to take 2 capsules, three times a day. So if the bottle has 110 capsules and you follow the directions, that is not enough in the bottle to last even 3 weeks.

If I have to spend over $30 a month on these pills, they had BETTER work. I’m going to check with my doctor first, and if she says it is OK to use them, I am tempted to give it a try.

Lazy Days

Not going away on vacation this year. No one can afford it any more. So we are hanging around town looking for fun. Got any ideas?

Baby Blog

One of my girlfriends is expecting a baby in August and I want to buy her some baby gifts. It is getting harder and harder to find unique baby gifts that will be useful and appreciated. But I am still searching.

Jenny started writing a blog and although it is not a day by day accounting of her pregnancy, it is a nice journal that she will be able to look back on and read, years down the road. I think that is really cool. I hope she keeps writing and adds some pictures of the baby after she is born. I think you can even export everything you’ve written and print it out as a scrapbook or diary. That would be unique!

Bad News

On my way to work this morning I stopped in at the gas station to see if the clerk was there or what was going on, since they did not open Sunday until after 3:00 pm in the afternoon.

Turns out that Miss Kay, the nice older lady who worked there, had slipped on the wet grass on her way to the car to go to work and she had broken her collarbone when she fell. The poor thing was left there laying on the ground for over an hour before anyone could get to her to help her.

She’s in the hospital for just a few days and then I suppose she’ll be sent back home. i don’t know who will be able to help her out around the house – she won’t be able to take care of herself or the house with a broken collarbone. That’s so sad.
