Can You Hear Me Now

My girlfriend got a new Cricket cell phone and I tried to warn her that those phones aren’t good in this area. The Cricket network does cover this area very well – lots of places have dead zones. It’s really frustrating to be talking to someone on your Cricket phone and then with no warning the call gets disconnected because you drove over a hill and lost the signal. Sometimes the calls get dropped when you simply walk across the room. She says she got it for emergencies, but if you have an emergency in a dead zone then it’s no help after all. I think she wasted her money on that cricket phone.

No Lake This Weekend

This weekend my sister has “reserved” the Lake cabin for herself and her family, so I’ve been told to find something else to do. Hmm. That’s a new attitude from her and her husband, and I’m not sure I like it. The cabin belongs to my parents and frankly I find it a little insulting to be told I’m not welcome there by my sister.

However, I am a good sport and “a big girl,” and I can certainly find something else to do this weekend. I’m thinking about a quick trip to Atlanta. My girlfriend is usually up for a Saturday night at the clubs in Buckhead. So we’ll see what kind of big city  fun we can scare up at the last minute!

Friday Lunches

Most Fridays we all get together at work and pick a restaurant to go out and eat lunch together. I really like this way of celebrating the end of the work week. I also like the way this forces some of my co-workers to get up off their duffs and go be sociable. It’s so easy to just get to work and hunker down at your desk or cubicle and not get up until 5:00. People need a certain amount of social interaction. Humans are social being by nature. It’s not good to isolate yourself from your co-workers. We are a team and it takes a little effort by everyone to keep the team spirit alive and I think you will find that everyone is more productive if they are emotionally secure. I know you can’t be best friends with everyone, but you need to make an effort to be polite and respectful and it won’t kill you to be pleasant to people that you see every day.

Hello world!

Hi. I’ve always wanted to keep a journal and now that I can do it online I have no more excuses. I am always on this computer anyway, so writing a post once in a while should be easy. At least that’s what I’m hoping. We’ll see how it works out.

So, as you see, my name is Vicki. I work for a small company and put in long, strange hours, so most of my friends don’t try to call me because I can’t talk freely at the office – they send me emails, and now hopefully will read my blog, too.
