Monk Reruns

Stayed up very late and had the TV on Channel 5 – CBS – for mindless entertainment while I tried to fall asleep. For some reason I just could not sleep. Too much on my mind, I guess. So about 3:00 am I watched a rerun of an early Monk show. It was pretty funny. Loved the cast of characters. The stories are a little trite but the interaction with the main character, Monk, is the point of the series anyway. He is a former police officer with acute psycho-socio disorders, like OCD and some Autism. But those social shortcomings are what he uses to solve the crimes. Interesting concept for a TV show.

Can you feel it?

Well it definitely feels like fall is in the air all of a sudden.  There is a bit of a chill in the air that wasn’t there last week.  I find it totally amazing how the seasons change and sometimes it can be rapidly and other times, it flows from one to the other with very little change.  I like it when it just sort of flows into the next season.

A friend of mine that lives in Colorado said they are under a winter advisory next week.  Winter?  Not ready for that right now.  Let’s get through fall first.

Now is the time to save

With everything that you need for getting the kids back to school, now is the time to save.  It can be expensive to have to buy new shoes, all those supplies that they need and not to mention, the clothes they need because they out grew most of their school clothes over the summer.

Nothing helps better than finding Wal-Mart discount coupons.  They already have low prices and then add a discount and you can really save.  Another good place to go is Payless shoe stores.   I even found Payless shoes discount coupons online.   I’m going to have to start looking online more for coupons.  I didn’t realize how much we could save.

Let the fun begin!!

Well today is the first day of school and I’m sure the teachers will already be looking forward to Friday.  The first week of school usually either goes smoothly or the children are complete monsters because they’re not used to sitting still unless it’s in front of a gaming system.

It won’t take them long to get back into the routine of school again.  I remember when my children were still at home and started school.  It was a great day for my wife and I but the kids left with long faces.  Usually by they had big smiles on their faces when they came home.  Either that or the same miserable look they had that morning.  Oh well, it’s like I explained to them, if you start your day with a good attitude then the day will probably go good but if you don’t, don’t expect to have a good day.

Are you donating?

Before you know it, the kids will be back in school.  The problem is that with so many people out of work, there is a real need for ‘School Tools’ donations.  I don’t know if they do that in your area or not but maybe you need to the the one to start something like that.

I know a lot of churches collect items that children need for school and then distribute them to needy children but there is even more need than just one church or two can handle.  If nothing else, find a family you know that is struggling and offer to buy what their child needs for school.  Ask them to allow you the ‘honor’ of helping this child with his education.

Help for the children

I always try to help some of the children in our tribe and this year I saw Zenni Optical on TV!!!  Talk about a blessing because I can get several pairs of $8 Rx eyeglasses for the children before school starts back.  I know several of the children need them too.  All I can say is a big ‘High Five to Zenni Optical for making it possible.

I would say it was time to turn in your license

I can’t help but to wonder if this is true or not.  I mean just looking at the picture, how in the world could this couple not know??  What do you think?

An old man and woman were on the way to Greenville , NC and stopped at McDonald’s in Farmville just off of 264 East bypass last Saturday and did not know that they hit this deer!!

Someone in McDonald’s had to tell them …the old man said he noticed that the car was starting to run a little hot the last few miles.

Absolutely amazing

Never have I read truer words before.  What do you think?  The artwork is absolutely amazing too.

God’s Wings – A little something to put things in perspective…

After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park , forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno’s damage. One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesque on the ground at the base of a tree.. Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother’s wings.

The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. Then the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast …because she had been willing to die, so those under the cover of her wings would live.

‘He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” (Psalm 91:4)

Being loved this much should make a difference in your life. Remember the One who loves you, and then be different because of it. Time waits for no one. Treasure every moment you have. You will treasure it even more when you can share it with someone special.

To realize the value of a friend…lose one.

I could see my wife doing this

The doctor, after an examination, sighed and said, ‘I’ve got some bad news. You have cancer, and you’d best put your affairs in order. ‘ The woman was shocked, but managed to compose herself and walk into the waiting room where her daughter had been waiting.

‘Well, daughter, we women celebrate when things are good, and we celebrate when things don’t go so well.  In this case, things aren’t well.  I have cancer.  So, let’s head to the club and have a martini.’

After 3 or 4 martinis, the two were feeling a little less somber.  There were some laughs and more martinis.  They were eventually approached by some of the woman’s old friends, who were curious as to what the two were celebrating.

The woman told her friends they were drinking to her impending end,  ‘I’ve been diagnosed with AIDS.’

The friend s were aghast, gave the woman their condolences and beat a hasty retreat.

After the friends left, the woman’s daughter leaned over and whispered,  ‘Momma, I thought you said you were dying of cancer, and you just told your friends you were dying of AIDS! Why did you do that?’

‘Because I don’t want any of those bitches sleeping with your father after I’m gone.’

And THAT, my friends, is what is called, ‘Putting Your Affairs In Order.’
