Visiting vs Using

One of my Rants or Raves…

There is a new neighbor down the street. She is close to my oldest daughter’s age…35 or so. At first visits from her were short and I could tell she just wanted to get out of the house. But now, after only about one month of these frequent visits, when she comes over, it’s usually to borrow something. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind sharing if I have it. But now I’m realizing that she has items of mine that she hasn’t brought back. I don’t like this.

Yes, I am rather forgetful at times. That is just me. Age contributes a bit to it also, I suppose. But this young woman should remember that I did tell her, “When you are done, I need it back”.

When she visits chats away, but I work from home and it’s hard to concentrate if I’m in the middle of work with the chatter. She obviously sees that I’m working. I’ve even bluntly took her that I’m working and have a deadline. SO, it looks like I’m going to have to be a bit more hard core about this. My friend Lindsay is going through the same thing with a neighbor who lives on her road. I can at least have someone to commiserate with. SMH!

Decisions for Supper

When ever I ask the family what they would like for supper, they answer me with “I don’t care” and “I don’t know.” Now, to me this is not helpful. I was checking my messages on FB and saw a post that said just about the same thing I have been thinking for years… Who has a recipe for I Don’t Know, and I Don’t Care??? It must be some elusive recipe that no one wants to share.

I do believe that one day, I’m going to figure out something to serve as I Don’t Care and I Don’t Know, and I’ll gladly give that recipe to anyone who doesn’t  have this recipe and needs it!

Thining out the Iris

Goodness…I never thought that iris would have so many babies and spread like wildfire, in one winter, it seems. But mine did! No, I’ve never dug them up in the fall, like the books and other people say to do. (not everyone does this, but most that I have talked to do.)

I’m going to ask everyone I know if they would like some irises. I have plenty. The colors vary from light blue, dark blue, lavender, a really light purple, a dark purple, yellow and a few (that I am going to keep) that are such a dark shade of purple that they look black.

I’m trying to figure out what to plant in the spaces that I am going to have when I thin out the irises. I’ve been thinking of various flowers of different blooming times. It won’t be until I shop though and something catches my fancy before I know what is actually going to be planted.
