Touch of elegance for the bath

Since my bathroom is nearly complete and I must admit is also starting to look very elegant, I would like to get bath accessories that will elude elegance  also. This room is my personal bathroom and I want it to stay nice. Also I’d like for it to be finished as a reflection upon my taste, which is sometimes a bit eclectic, but also more expensive than I would put in my spare baths or in my kid’s bathrooms, for instance.

In my opinion, my bathroom is a haven. A place for me to relax and pamper myself. I love and want all of my accessories to match and make the room to feel comfortable, and classy also. I went with more expensive tile, sinks, mirrors and flooring, so I’m not going to scrimp on the final touches and decor, that make it all come together.

Looking for just the right candles, soap and toothbrush holder, sponges and towels has been a joy to shop for. For once, everything is going to match and yet can also be mixed with various other colors so I can change these, depending the moods I have. Even my face cloths will have my initials on them. I thank my husband since this room is my first big anniversary gift from him. I must admit, he didn’t make me go easy financially on what I wanted to make my bathroom start to come together just exactly the way I would like it!

New kitchen spice racks

Starting to make plans for organization in my kitchen and also the cupboards, I’ve been seriously thinking about getting all new kitchen spice racks. I love them, and they make it so much easier to find what I am looking for. I’ve had a problem with the kids just using a spice or packet of what they need, and not putting it back in it’s proper place. It actually gets on my nerves a great deal. They are old enough for organization and to take responsibility for the things that I buy and they use.

Since I’m going to remodel the kitchen with new cupboards, something I’m looking forward to very much, I’ve decided that perhaps I am going to get a big wall spice rack. I have plenty of room on the walls, but not really enough cupboard space.

These would be ideal. The spices would be right in reach and easy to put back to their proper place. I actually think it will look really nice also. I usually cut and hang my herbs and flowers up to dry from the kitchen ceiling, and it will look sort of old style. I like that look. A country kitchen from long ago. The spice racks to me are a great touch.

Deciding on bathroom tile

I’m thinking about going to the tile and carpet store in town, which also sells roll upon roll of wall paper and accessories, to check out bathroom tile. I really am not sure which kind I want, but my bathroom needs to be totally remodeled. I’m tired of looking at it the way it is not and there is no way the husband is going to do this project. I usually end up doing all the home improvement myself. It’s one of those true statements, “If you want something done, ya have to do it yourself, ” around here. Sometimes my daughter will try and help me, and sometimes my oldest son will, but they get into the project for awhile, then when it isn’t fun anymore, they stop. I usually end up finishing it myself. I’m glad I had family who were in the remodeling and building business and a now deceased husband who taught me a whole lot about home improvement and construction work. I even know how to build a pole barn!

So, I’m going to go check out tile, wall paper and paint tomorrow for the bathroom. I did get a new sink that is kind of classy, even though it’s white, which I didn’t want, but it was on sale. I have to remember that I need to find deals while doing home improvements, since it’s all being done with my cookie jar money.

I love the look of the wood floor, but I’m still undecided. Tile or wood look. If my daughter and I lived here alone, we’d do the wood laminate. We aren’t slobs. With the guys? Pffffttt. Ya’ll don’t want to know.
