Pumpkin Pie

One of the very best smells in this world is a baking pumpkin pie, and you have to admit that it is also one of the best tastes in this world. I have always loved pumpkin pie, I like to have it year round not only at the holidays like many people. Turkey is something else that we have the year round just not at Thanksgiving, in fact most of the time we get a nice Honey Baked Ham for Thanksgiving and have the turkey for our Christmas table. You have to admit that the food during the holidays is some of the best of the whole year.

Have you ever wanted to get published?

I have a lot of friends that tell me that they would love to be able to have some of their writings get published, but they don’t know how to get started. I often tell them that they could start their own blog, for free, using WordPress, but that seems to scare them off somehow. I think that they are afraid that they will then have a huge commitment to write everyday.

Some of them try using Facebook, but I don’t really think that is the best platform for creative writing, and to be honest, I’ve struggled with trying to find older posts on Facebook. A lot of people will post something on Facebook and write “Share on your own wall so you can find it again.” I have not had good luck finding that thing I shared again – ever!

Believe it or not, I get a lot of emails from people asking me if I will pay them money for them to write a guest post on my own blog. I wouldn’t mind doing that from time to time, except that the people then want me to pay them big money for inferior writing that is really all about promoting their own services or product! They claim it will help my search engine rankings, but I know better than that. I get angry that so many people think I am that ignorant!

Be Careful With Aspirin

I bet most families have a bottle of aspirin in their house somewhere. I know a lot of people prefer other pain relievers, like Advil or Tylenol, but I still think that people keep a little bottle of aspirin in their medicine cabinet. It’s a carryover from the old days when there were not many alternatives.

One of the problems with aspirin is that it thins your blood. So if you are taking aspirin for a toothache and then the dentist has to pull the tooth, sometimes he can’t do it right away because of the risk of excessive bleeding. This happened to a friend of mine. If he had not been taking aspirin for several days before seeing the dentist, he could have had the tooth pulled and on the road to recovery. But since he had taken so much, the dentist sent him home for 4 more days of pain AND orders to not take any pain relievers. Then he went back and got the tooth pulled. That was a long painful ordeal and I did not know that aspirin would have contributed to the problem.
