Raking leftover leaves

It finally warmed up and dried out enough outside to finish raking all the leftover leaves in the yard. A few years ago, it used to be my kids who loved to jump and play in the big piles of leaves. This afternoon I finished raking and went inside to get a cup of tea. I heard my dog barking out in front. When I went to the door, there he was having the time of his life jumping and rolling in the leaves, then barking when the leaves blew into the driveway. I wish I would have videoed it. He’s so darn strange sometimes!

It snowed

Looking out the widow this morning, since it was dark still, I had to turn on the flood lights to make sure my eyes weren’t still sort of sleepy. They weren’t. I had snowed last night. Not much, but enough to cover up the grass. It melted by about ten o’clock, and actually wasn’t very cold out at all. I walked into the back yard and actually found dandelions in the yard. Still bright yellow and not frosted or hurt by the snow. Rather odd to me, but pretty cool too!

The temps are dropping

And I’m not a happy camper. When my husband actually wears a zip up hoodie, it means he is cold. It also means, I am FREEZING. Usually my husband wears a t~shirt that is cut off at the neck and has no sleeves. His body heat amazes me. But, I’m cold. Did I mention the time change messes with me also?

Weather guessers

Well, the weather man said that the weekend would warm up, but it sure didn’t do it. In fact last night it got down to 30 degrees and we had frost on the ground this morning. It actually felt icy cold with the wind, even though the sun did shine. Guess it’s time to dig out the heavy duty winter wear sooner than I had thought. I so do not like the cold and winter. I think I get cases of that condition literally named SAD. I forget what the letters stand for and too lazy right now to look it up, but it’s pretty much an appropriate abbreviation for the meaning.

Busy,busy, busy

It’s been one heck of a week. I’ve been bagging up my summer clothes, and then hauling them up to the attic. Getting back out the ones I will keep and wear in the winter and in general putting clothes in bags to take to some charities I know that will help others with them. It’s a LOT of work, but I’m happy to do it. And then…go figure, not that I’m complaining, the weather here has been in the high 70’s and even up to 82 degrees all week and it’s supposed to last at least until the middle of next week. I’m not complain though. I love what we call Indian Summer and it’s great to be able to get out in the sunshine. I even got tan from taking the dogs for long walks the past couple days. I think they are wondering what is wrong with me, walking so far. They get tired before I do and want to go home. LOL!

October has arrived

I can’t believe it’s October already. It seems like, with the exception of just a week of hot weather, summer came and went way too fast. I really didn’t do a quarter of the things I would have liked to do, as far as short family vacations to the lake place or pool side cook outs like we normally do. My husband and youngest son are outside right now, taking down the pop up camper we had for the kids to hang out in and sleep here or at the lake house instead of staying inside on warm nights and it seems sort of sad to see it packed down. Hopefully next year we’ll have more time for family camping and outings.

Another Monday

For the last few days we have had some really beautiful weather. A far cry from the rain, wind and cold of last week. This morning I took my dog for a walk and it was nice to smell the fresh morning air and feel the sun on my face. I’ve tried all summer to stay semi out of the sun without having sunblock on, as there is some pigmentation spots that is an inherited condition in our family. Little white spots or blotches. I forget the proper term for it, but it is caused by lots of exposure to the sun, and believe me, I used to be one of those “sun babies” who loved getting tan and indeed I did tan fast. Later on I might go for another walk after supper, and take some pictures. I’m thinking about getting a new camera also.

Pretty Themes

When I set up my blog I picked a theme from a small list and thought it was something I did not have to deal with anymore. But then I found a nice theme that “felt” more like the real me, so I downloaded the other theme and changed it out. Now my girlfriend Sherri has found a new theme for her blog and I am so jealous! I really like the bright colors and happy vibe. So maybe I’ll be theme shopping again tonight and find a new “look” for myself, too.

Here we are, heading into fall with everything in nature turning color and changing to prepare for winter. I think I’ll take my clue from Mother Nature and change my colors. I hope this Autumn is beautiful, and I am going to make a serious effort to get outdoors and appreciate it.

Slow week

It seems like this week is just dragging by. Not that I really have anything special to do this weekend, but something might come up and for some reason, it just seems like it is taking it’s time getting  here. I did play out in my back gardens this morning and my pumpkins are all starting to get their color.  They aren’t very big this year, but they still look nice. I think I just might go out and do some digging and cut some flowers for some arrangements. Guess I’m just bored.

Watching the stars

I love to lay out in the back yard and look at the stars. Lately there have been a whole lot of meteor showers. I always thought they generally happened in later September or in early October, but apparently this is not the case. There simply can’t be that many shooting and falling stars. Or can there be, considering how much stuff they have shot up into the air for so long, that actually don’t belong up there.
