OCD over cleaning products

Yes, I have to admit that for as long as I can remember, I have no doubt tried every cleaning product that ever were to hit the shelves…and even as seen items in a magazine or on television. That was years ago though. I learned a lesson. I just don’t do it.  But, every time I see something I want to try that is a cleaning product, and it looks like something I want to try, I go to the store and buy it. Sometimes I have found, a person can get the same thing at quite a savings if you really compare materials they are made of, as in these swiffy ( my word ) wipers and wet cleaners. This also is a lesson I learned.

I compared weaves of the pads and the thickness of them also. The cleaning product used on the wet wipe things. Some generic or store brand will do, but only in certain areas. Now mind you, this is all my opinions, so make your own observations. Mine are based on saving money, while not loosing clean power. In this case, I happened to pick that swiffy cleaning product. I’m sure there will be more “reviews ” on down the line.

Right now, I’m on the search for a cupboard cleaner that actually does what it says it does. It’s either that or I stick to Murphys.

Mr. Tree and advice

My oldest daughter sent this to me, as some of her “sage” advice. I thought it was pretty cool. For one, I love trees. You can say, yes…I am a tree hugger, person. And I really liked the advice, considering I’ve been fretting a lot about things and realize that it’s time to go out and embrace nature to get a firm grip on my out of control imagination. She sent this to me at the right time. I’m not sure which category it falls in actually, but I do know that indeed it is an opinion and also a reminder that I have to get back out and go hug a tree and groove with nature to feel better. It’s been a long tough winter.

Closet cleaning

After starting to clean closets and drawers, I realize how much clothes I have that I don’t wear. It’s not that the clothes don’t fit…I just don’t wear them.

I’ve always heard the expression by organizers that if you haven’t seen or worn the clothes in a year, pack them up and get rid of them. Very wise advice.

I’ve already got three big garbage bags full of clothes and also one filled with shoes that I am going to donate to a charity.

Kids lockers and more space

Now that the winter months are upon us, and it’s been getting really very cold up here, I have found out that the kids lockers at school do not have the room for a place to hang or keep their winter coats in. It upsets me a great deal, since I have been harping on them to wear their heavier coats instead of just sweaters or hoodies, to school. Eery morning for the last month I have told them to grab a jacket or a coat and they tell me that they are warm enough. Finally, I after really getting angry they told me that there was no room in their school lockers for all of their books, plus a coat.

Because of what my kids had told me, I decided to go to the school and look at the their lockers, and I was totally appalled at the fact they indeed did not have the space to put all their books and notebooks, let alone hang or even stuff a heavy coat into. This is not right for the school not to have children’s lockers that at least will be able to hold the great deal of books, binders and notebooks they have, but also at least hold a coat. And indeed, I’ve seen lockers online that are inexpensive, and would hold all that is required.

Lockers for kids, should be built and installed in schools, so it gives them enough room to have their books and school items without having to cram books, papers and notebooks in them. Also they should at least have room for a winter coat, since they do not get excused for absences anymore if they get colds or sore throats, or worse. We as parents know organization even if it is in a locker, would help our kids in school.

A new look

My blog has a new look! I think the sun and the grass and all make it for a much more cheery space for me. I dread winter and now I have a piece of sunshine every day! To me it’s a happy format!

Tarps for floor protection

Since I’m remodeling the bathroom and have to do a lot of painting, I need some tarps. I’m not a really neat painter when it comes to using a roller on, for instance the ceiling and the high part of the walls. I’m not (under doctors orders) supposed to get up on ladders, so hand painting, which I love to do is out of the question. That leaves the need for protection for my new floor tile. I knew it should have been laid last, but unfortunately my husband got ahead of himself on what was to be my project.

I looked at a tarp that I could reuse for other things, that I might need it for. I always have uses for them when we are camping or even in case of rain when we are cooking outside, because our weather is so changeable that it’s hard to tell what will happen with it at any given moment and they come in really handy. They are more pricey than what I actually need though, for just painting and remodeling the bathroom.

I’ve decided just to use a drop cloth on the floor. The way I figure it, after the holidays, I plan on starting to paint the living room next, and then going on from room to room and giving them all fresh coats of paint, so that will suffice for what my needs are at this time.

Mosaic tile for the bathroom

Because I’m in the middle of remodeling the bathroom, I’ve decided that for one of the walls, to use mosaic tiles. There are a large selection of these and I have to make some more decisions, but I love the look of the tiles and I think that for the wall that I am going to use them on, it will look beautiful. This project is mine. My husband wanted to get in on it, and of course I will let him do some of the heavy lifting and such and putting in the new toilet, sink and towel bars I’ve picked out. The problem is, while I was gone for a weekend after I bought floor tile, he installed it. That is where the trouble began. It’s not his skill.

I’ve gone online and have done a lot of research about glass mosaic tiles and how to put them up, what to use and even how to cut them, of course. It’s a bit tricky and I’m sure I’ll need some different tools than what I am accustom to using, but I have a feeling I’m going to like doing this project.

Using the mosaic tile will offer me a variety of options, even if I change my mind and go with the metal ones.  I still haven’t decided on the colors that I would like to use, but I’m thinking about it. I’ve also spoken to a friend who has used these tiles in her kitchen on the wall behind her sink and stove, and she loves them. The up keep in minimal and cleaning is easy also. That indeed is a plus.

Volunteer work

I’m going to do some volunteer work at the hospital I think. I’ve been kicking around the idea and as I used to be in the medical field, it would be good to see what kind of work I could do to help out there. They always need volunteers I’m told, so I’m definitely going to give it some though.

Nuts or Not?

I’m going to make brownies tonight. I have a craving for chocolate and I know I have a box of brownie mix in the pantry. The big questions is: do I put chopped walnuts in it or not?

Gas prices

For the first time in a long time the price of gasoline has dropped below $3.00 a gallon and today I heard on the news that the price of a barrel of oil was down to $78 a barrel, if so that means the price of gas should go down a lot more than it has already. I can not wait for the price to go back to where it should be, I am tired of paying the high prices that the Arab Oil Hijackers have demanded for a long time. We need to drill for our own oil and tell them to go to hell, if we do not have enough then cut back. We need to do a lot more stuff the old fashioned way no matter who it pisses off.
