Creating our color blocked bathroom

Guest post written by Monica Reeves

I like to think that one of the best parts of a home is a bathroom. Besides, it’s something that you have to use, so you might as well make that room really nice. It’s little luxuries like that that make a house really a home, or at least in my opinion. So in following with my own thinking, I thought that it would be good to try and make our bathroom a little more interesting.

I love looking at all kinds of fun interior blogs and when I was doing that to get some good bathroom inspiration, I ran across some info on SEARS Home Improvement. After I looked through it a little bit,  I decided to use them to redo our kitchen, which is something that we’ve wanted to do for a while now too.

I found all kinds of inspiration and settled on color blocking the bathroom with some paint and strategically placed colorful vases. Just because you have to do your business in a bathroom doesn’t mean that you have to make it boring and ho hum.

Time is flying

This week has gone by so fast. I’ve been pretty busy with the kids, the animals and just “stuff” in general. Hopefully in the next few days, I’ll be able to kick back for awhile finish some of the projects I’ve started around here. The bathroom needs work and I’d like to paint my office. I have some sewing projects that need finished also.

New Flooring

This house used to have a dark brown carpet that was wall to wall. But the house is over 20 years old and its was time for the original carpet to go. I had some young guys come rip up the old carpet and install a totally different flooring that looks like wood but is made of a vinyl composite of some sort.

I like the new look of light oak flooring, but I still want some kind of carpet. I think I will shop for a nice room sized rug and add some color to the living room.

HD TV

Electronics is not my strong suit. I depend on the kids to help me out when I have a need for a new computer or a new TV. My son says I should get rid of the big old TV in my living room and get a new HD TV.

So today I am heading out to Sam’s Club and then Electronic Express to look at the HD TVs on display and choose the screen that I like best.
