To Moms for Easter

We’re all going to my Mom’s house for Easter. We’re going to get there early, so I can help my Mom with anything she needs to have done before everyone else starts to arrive. I’m hoping it doesn’t rain and isn’t cold on Sunday, but that is like hoping to win the lottery. It’s hard telling what it will be like. I actually stopped watching the weather reports because any more they are simply not accurate here.

Mom was telling me about what all she was cooking. Once again she’ll be in her pure element. My family and I love anything she cooks. I’m glad I didn’t buy a ham this week, as she bought a big one and told me that any left overs are going home with me. Okey Dokey Mama…I’ll take em all! šŸ™‚

If it’s nice out, I’m going to try and get some of my family to start a horse shoe game. I loved to play before I lost the strength in my arm. Still, it’s fun to watch my family and friends that show up, play. They are really competitive, in a good way.

Traditions and Easter Baskets

No matter how old my kids are, they still expect the Easter Bunnie do come and give them fully decked out Easter Baskets. I will admit right now, that I do indeed believe in the Easter Bunnie, Santa, Elves, the Tooth Fairy, and what ever so called “imagined” persona there is for the holidays. I really enjoyed my childhood and growing up, and my Mom went all out “playing” these special “people” and “animals” with great imagination. She put the magic and wonder into out lives and I have made sure to carry that on to my family when my first child was born. persona’s

We have traditions in our family that even my daughter who is married, and has my two grand kids who are 9 and 13, carry on and has added her own spin on our old traditions. To me, it doesn’t matter how old my kids are or the fact they are nearly ready to go out on their own, I still celebrate holidays with the traditions thatĀ  has been in the family all these years. Once of which areEaster Gifts. I love buying special gifts that no one has noticed in the store or online, yet I know each person would love. I want to out do myself this year and make Easter the best we’ve had. Some of the kids will be leaving for collage or their own places soon, and well…it sort of is bittersweet.

This year, I want to give each of them their life long Easter Baskets that are tradition, but I also want to surprise them with specialEaster Basket Gifts, and have a note that is attached that says, their names and also, something like…”Happy Easter, from The Easter Bunnie.” Then I might put some paw finger prints on it to make like the Bunnie wrote and handled the note. Yes, this year will be loaded with tradition, but also with something new added, thanks to online shopping!

A ski holiday in Whistler

My dear friend Maxie called last and right away started talking aboutĀ  Ski Holidays in Whistler. Now, I know my friend and of course the wheels started turning right away, since I knew what was coming next. She realizes that I am a total klutz. I have no desire to ski. I hurt myself just tripping over cracks in sidewalks. I hate cold weather and snow, even though I do think clean pure snow is quite beautiful, but that is my extent of liking winter and the cold.

Maxie though, has recently come into some money and has saved some holiday money and gave me a site to look at, to take a look at the ski accommodation in Whistler, at least. She has wanted to take me on a holiday for a long time, and loves trying anything new. I must say that the idea of sitting before a fire and looking out at the snow and the ski slopes. The mountains and all the beautiful scenery. While looking at the site, it actually got me thinking about being adventurous.

I was a little bit concerned about her paying my way though. I’ve always been like that. But money is tight for us right now and living in the US, has made things a bit tough for everyone job wise. I do have money put away for something special, and when I checked out the prices, they weren’t bad. There were great discount whistler lift passes also. So, I’m thinking about it the holiday she has proposed to me. We’ll have to see what happens and how really serious she is. Knowing my Maxie, she is pretty serious.

We relaxed

It was a nice New Year’s Eve at our house. My daughter and I relaxed, ate goodies and even my husband surprised us and didn’t work like sometimes he has to.

We saw in the New Year, and then went to sleep. My husband picked up my youngest son from his girlfriend’s house shortly after 12:30, and my oldest son was safe at his friends house, and even he called to check in. (I was kind of shocked! LOL).

Now it’s time to get back to “normal” and start cleaning this house! It got rather messy over the holidays and I actually didn’t even care!

A quiet Christmas Eve

It’s going to be a quiet Christmas eve I hope. I do have some last minute shopping to do like usual, but I have my lists so it shouldn’t be that bad. Not like the rushing I did last year. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

School Christmas Craftshow

The start of the Christmas craft show at the school is today. I usually have my crafts finished and already set up to sell at the event, except this year I won’t be taking any. It’s the first year in a long while, but so much has been going on this year, that I haven’t had time to work on crafts like I used to. I’ll go to it and see what is new though. Some of these women are really talented and should promote their crafts. Others do have small shops or sell out of their homes. It’ll be nice to see what others have created.

It’s snowing

There for awhile, all we had was rain. The back yard looked like a pond again, and I was hoping all the water on the roads wouldn’t freeze. The kids even had delayed days in the morning because of the fog, since it really wasn’t that cold out. This morning though, I woke up to snow coming down and it actually looked kind of pretty. That moment will be over as soon as I walk outside and feel the cold. The kids want a white Christmas. I would prefer to have mine in the tropics!

Kids and Christmas

After fighting the shoppers tonight, I came home really bummed and not in a good mood. I walked in the door and there stood the Christmas tree, in all it’s glory! My son helped my daughter put it up and my daughter decorated it. It’s breathtakingly beautiful! I didn’t think a small “Charlie Brown” artificial tree could fill out and be as beautiful as this. I guess my son hung it up, so to speak after it was put together, and my daughter finished the rest. ThankĀ  you Viney Girl! It’s beautiful and I love it!!

Long weekends

With the kids out of school since last Wednesday, and the long holiday weekend, it seems like it messes with my internal clock. I keep forgetting what day it is and it blows my normal routine all to…well…you know what word I want to use. LOL! I keep forgetting today is Saturday, since it seems like it should be Sunday. Actually, on Thanksgiving day, it felt like a Sunday. With the rest of the holidays coming up, I supposed I’m going to be in this state of confusion for awhile.

Leftovers until next year

Why is it, when I start to cook, I can’t seem to stop and the food sort of grows and grows?? Dinner was over last night at an estimated time of 27 minutes after cooking for two days. While putting the leftovers away, I ran out of storage containers and had to have my husband seek out a store to buy more of them for me. I know he didn’t want to go out, since he was totally stuffed, but he did then got home and promptly fell asleep. No new news there! I did get the thanks you’s and and the compliments though on the dinner, which was nice. Now what to cook with the left overs…
