I have met a lot of people who have become friends, via the internet. Very good people who I’m close to and share thoughts and such with. I want to wish them a very Happy Thanksgiving. It seems a bit strange still that their holidays are sometimes on different days than ours in the USA, but after so many years, I’ve gotten used to the differences. Eat up for me and enjoy the holiday, my friends!!
Good Friends are a Blessing
Last year I discovered Facebook and I love it. There are a lot of people who I already knew that accepted my as a Facebook friend. But there are also a bunch of people that I have never met in real life but have come across somehow and ended up as friends now.
Kendall Sue is a lady who made a comment on another friend’s post when I noticed her and looked up her profile. She struck me as a like-minded person and I sent her a friend request.I was surprised that she accepted it the same day and we started chatting. Turns out we have a whole lot in common, and we have become fast friends.
Isn’t that funny how things work out?
An unexpected plant
I’ve just about given up on my garden. It looks terrible as we haven’t had rain and with the water bill as it is, due to filling the pool and the kids taking cold showers, plus laundry and just in general using lots of water this summer, I really can’t afford to water the gardens like they should be. I did however walk out into the back yard, and we have bales of straw back there to be burned when we get some rain and the fields, trees and grass aren’t so dry. I had looked out the window and saw orange “somethings” way out back, so when I walked out there to see what they were, they turned out to be flowers which are HUGH and beautiful, and a very large pumpkin plant! There is a little pumpkin growing on it also. My blogging buddy told me about her bale gardening, and her grandson’s pumpkins along with her other plants, and I thought it was a strange way of doing things, but had told my son about it. Now I’m wondering if my son had stuck a seed in that bale of straw just to see if it would grow. I might do this next year!
Misery
I never thought that I would admit this, considering my love for the summer and warm weather. It’s too hot. Terribly hot and all day I have felt sick to my stomach. I’ve been drinking a large amount of Powerade to replenish electrolytes and it has the sodium I need also. I’m to get lab work done tomorrow to make sure my sodium levels are not dropping, or I’ll end up in the hospital with an IV drip. The dogs are miserable and so is everyone else. We need rain badly, and even though storms where in the forecast, there isn’t a could in the sky and even the breeze we do have, feels like an oven being opened after it’s preheated. My husband took two of the kids swimming at my friends. She had called and asked if I wanted to come over earlier, but I felt so sick and puky I didn’t go. From what I’ve seen on the news it’s like this all over. I wish it would rain. It sure would be welcomed.
Have a safe Holiday
Well, the 4th is tomorrow and the family doesn’t really have any plans. We all used to pack up and go somewhere to watch the fireworks when the kids were little, but now that they are darn hear grown, it seems they have no interest in going to see them. On the road that I live, the neighbors always have lots of fireworks and for the last week someone is always setting a few off, so I’ve seen some great ones already. But this year, I’ll just sit on my back deck and watch what kind of show they put on this year. Besides, I don’t want to be on the road with anyone who may have partied a bit too much this weekend. Around here the drunk driving rate is unfortunately very high.
Happy Birthday Wendy
One of my friends, Wendy, is celebrating her birthday today. We used to work together, several years ago. I’m so glad that we both make the effort to stay in touch. Every once in a while we find a reason to get together – for lunch, a concert or even just the movies. Having good friends is what makes life worthwhile.
Happy Birthday, Wendy!
Happy Birthday Donna!
My friend, Donna Lundy, is having a birthday today. I like to wish my friends “Happy Birthday” with a phone call on their birthday, but when I called her this morning there was no answer. I guess I will have to try to call again later. I didn’t want to leave her a voice mail – it’s important to talk to her in person so the wishes are most sincere.
Deer chili
A very dear friend of our gave us some fresh venison this week and I made the ground part of it into deer chili. Let me brag on it, it was very good and I was very pleased with how it turned out. I searched and found a recipe on the internet and it looked very simple and it was. It had a very nice chili flavor and of course I added to the recipe just a bit. I added Sweet Italian Sausage and it made it very tasty. It would of been fine with out the sausage but I think it perked it up very nicely and I will have to try this again as soon as James gets me some more deer meat, he is the only person that we know who goes hunting a lot.
Thank You
This is a long past due thank you to a very good friend of mine who got me started in this blog, Wendy thanks to you I am having so much fun and learning so much as I read other blogs, thanks to you, so much. I miss your blog and hope you will get back into the swing soon. Thanks again for everything and if I can do any thing to help you know how to get a hold of me.
July 4th
Every year on the 4th of July we have family and friends over for a huge BBQ and fireworks display. I wish I could take credit for the fireworks display but it put on by the water park across the lake but from our deck we have a wonderful view. This year we are having BBQ ribs and corn on the cob with baked potatoes cooked on the grill. Lots of beer and soda to wash it all down and the party is on. Looks like very good weather this year last year we had some rain kinda messed up the BBQ part of the party but this year looks clear and mild. Thank you Mother Nature.
