New Flooring

This house used to have a dark brown carpet that was wall to wall. But the house is over 20 years old and its was time for the original carpet to go. I had some young guys come rip up the old carpet and install a totally different flooring that looks like wood but is made of a vinyl composite of some sort.

I like the new look of light oak flooring, but I still want some kind of carpet. I think I will shop for a nice room sized rug and add some color to the living room.

Prayers for Alabama

All the news today is about the devastation all over Alabama yesterday. Tornadoes hit several populated areas and many people have lost their lives and their homes. I am praying for the good people of Alabama to find the strength to get through this.

Watching the Japan Disaster

My TV has been on CNN all night last night and all day today. I am amazed and also terrified at all the video footage they have about the earthquake and tsunami over there. I can’t imagine the horror of being there and living through this. I hope the rest of the world steps up and send relief workers and supplies to these people.

Mardi Gras Starts Today

The cities all along the Southern U. S. coastline and the shores of the Gulf of Mexico celebrate Mardi Gras every year. It is a huge event, with lavish parties, hour long parades, great music and all kinds of delicious foods and drinks.

I wish the rest of America would get on board with Mardi Gras. We need more reasons to celebrate and have fun, especially now that winter is winding down.

Happy Birthday Wendy

One of my friends, Wendy, is celebrating her birthday today. We used to work together, several years ago. I’m so glad that we both make the effort to stay in touch. Every once in a while we find a reason to get together – for lunch, a concert or even just the movies. Having good friends is what makes life worthwhile.

Happy Birthday, Wendy!

HD TV

Electronics is not my strong suit. I depend on the kids to help me out when I have a need for a new computer or a new TV. My son says I should get rid of the big old TV in my living room and get a new HD TV.

So today I am heading out to Sam’s Club and then Electronic Express to look at the HD TVs on display and choose the screen that I like best.

Hot Tea for the Soul

Tried a new flavor of tea today by Lipton. It is a green tea that comes in a special triangle shaped teabag. It is flavored with little bit of orange peel that you can see inside the bag. It steeps for just a couple of minutes and then is very smooth and mild to drink.

Happy Birthday Donna!

My friend, Donna Lundy, is having a birthday today. I like to wish my friends “Happy Birthday” with a phone call on their birthday, but when I called her this morning there was no answer. I guess I will have to try to call again later. I didn’t want to leave her a voice mail – it’s important to talk to her in person so the wishes are most sincere.

Wet plans

With the rain that we have had all day it has made our plans to go and watch the fireworks downtown a no go, I am sure glad that we went to the lake and watched the fireworks at Nashville Shores last night. They are calling for severe storms tonight so I think we will just stay in where it is dry and watch the fireworks on TV, maybe next year we can make it downtown to see the show live and in person.

Gone

One of TV’s Charlies Angels has died and that makes me very sad for her family. Farrah Fawcett has passed away from a long bout with cancer and as a child I remember watcher on Charlies Angels even if she was only on the show for one year I loved her and thought it was a terrible mistake for her to leave the show, and it turned out she should of stayed, at least in my opinion and I am sure she thought that she did the right thing. Farrah will be very missed and I will pray for her.
