Crazy weather

The telephone woke me up at 5:30 this morning. It was to tell me that the kid’s school had a two hour delay because of the fog. I didn’t expect fog, since it had just snowed the day before yesterday.

After I turned on the news, I let the dog outside to do his business, it literally felt like Spring out doors. It was raining and foggy, yes it was that, but the porch thermometer read 52 degrees. This is January! I couldn’t believe it.

I sat with my tea watching the news and weather report and indeed it was about 52 degrees. All of a sudden, I saw lightening, then heard the thunder. I jumped, since it startled me and spilled my tea all over the sofa. I had to get stain remover today when I went into town. The weather report said that the temps were supposed to drop drastically and we were going to have snow. I stocked up on some items we use a lot of, just in case. Also more lamp oil and candles. Things like that, which come in so handy if the power goes out. I spent way too much money today, but just in case items seem to cost more when not planned. It is snowing now and the temperature dropped steady every hour today.

Address Plaques are a great solution

After my mail box got hit and demolished the other night, I’ve decided to look at cool address plaques. My old mail box had the house numbers that were reflective, right on the wooden mailbox post. It was free to have the first time, from the village I live in. Now, it will cost me a mint to get another one. Since the mail is delivered around 10:00 am, and everyone knows everyone here, my mail man does not need to know my the house number, so it doesn’t need to be a reflective address sign.

I rarely ever have company in the night time, and if I do, once again, I don’t need reflectors on the house number, but I would indeed like to check out house numbers for the front of my home. I like the look of them. I’ve seen many now after shopping around on the net, that are classy, but not too fancy or overstated for me.

I also have been trying to decide if I would like to buy something distinctive for the front lawn, since my herb and flower gardens are planted there. I’ve been looking at lawn plaques. There are some really very classy, but simple ones I wouldn’t mind having. I’m still undecided, but I am leaning to these, as they would give a great touch to my front lawn and gardens.

Mail box costing a mint to replace

After my mail box was totaled out, I found out they are no longer inexpensive like they used to be. All prices seem to have gone up on everything.

Not to mention, in this village it will also cost extra to get the house numbers that are reflective and put on the post. The price per number is outrageous. I mean, it wasn’t my fault my mail box was hit.

I’m trying to think of a solution, but found that a mail box now has to be out at the road side. Great. I wonder how many times it has to get hit in order for counsel to change the “rules”.

Finding the best credit repair company

Lately my girlfriend Jill has been trying to find a Credit Repair Company. She says that she is really in debt because of medical bills, which I know she is, and wants to repair her credit. I’m no doubt as badly off as she is, because of medical bills, so I know what she is going through. It tends to get overwhelming and the phone calls never seem to stop. A debt collector is very persistent and it gets to be really hard t trying to explain to them that you just don’t have the money.

I personally am leery of credit repair companies, as my husband went through one a few years ago, and basically they put us further into debt than what we were. I know he didn’t do his, so called “homework” before he contacted the company, and it turns out they were bogus, and were known to steal people’s money and not do a thing about the people’s credit.

Finding The Best Credit Repair Service,  just takes a lot of research and asking a lot of questions though, I believe. Read the fine print. Don’t just see a company on television and decide to go with them because they promise to help you get out of debt. There are a lot of good companies out there willing and able to help. One just has to be cautious.

Closet cleaning

After starting to clean closets and drawers, I realize how much clothes I have that I don’t wear. It’s not that the clothes don’t fit…I just don’t wear them.

I’ve always heard the expression by organizers that if you haven’t seen or worn the clothes in a year, pack them up and get rid of them. Very wise advice.

I’ve already got three big garbage bags full of clothes and also one filled with shoes that I am going to donate to a charity.

Sub zero temps

Deciding to get new carpet in the living room is a big step. I have tongue and groove hard wood floors and I’m really undecided about covering them up, because even though they could use some work a bit, they still are really beautiful, since this house is so old.

With the temperatures now dropping the floors, despite of the big oval rug I have laid down, get really cold. At least to me they do. Walking barefoot in the house isn’t an option now because the weather is now doing what it’s basically supposed to do here.

We could insulate more, but it doesn’t seem to be helping much. I’m still undecided. Another project might be underway soon though.

We relaxed

It was a nice New Year’s Eve at our house. My daughter and I relaxed, ate goodies and even my husband surprised us and didn’t work like sometimes he has to.

We saw in the New Year, and then went to sleep. My husband picked up my youngest son from his girlfriend’s house shortly after 12:30, and my oldest son was safe at his friends house, and even he called to check in. (I was kind of shocked! LOL).

Now it’s time to get back to “normal” and start cleaning this house! It got rather messy over the holidays and I actually didn’t even care!
