A quiet Christmas Eve

It’s going to be a quiet Christmas eve I hope. I do have some last minute shopping to do like usual, but I have my lists so it shouldn’t be that bad. Not like the rushing I did last year. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

School Christmas Craftshow

The start of the Christmas craft show at the school is today. I usually have my crafts finished and already set up to sell at the event, except this year I won’t be taking any. It’s the first year in a long while, but so much has been going on this year, that I haven’t had time to work on crafts like I used to. I’ll go to it and see what is new though. Some of these women are really talented and should promote their crafts. Others do have small shops or sell out of their homes. It’ll be nice to see what others have created.

It’s snowing

There for awhile, all we had was rain. The back yard looked like a pond again, and I was hoping all the water on the roads wouldn’t freeze. The kids even had delayed days in the morning because of the fog, since it really wasn’t that cold out. This morning though, I woke up to snow coming down and it actually looked kind of pretty. That moment will be over as soon as I walk outside and feel the cold. The kids want a white Christmas. I would prefer to have mine in the tropics!

Planning for window boxes for the Spring

As all of my family are aware of, I’ve been planning on putting up window boxes when Spring comes. I know it’s early to be planning such things to some people, but I am the kind of person who likes to plan ahead when it comes to my  out door plants and flowers. I plan all winter long for what I would like to do with my gardens and my lawn, way before most people are even planning for Christmas.

Since we have been remodeling the house, I have all new windows and I think that I want to put in window box planters. Every time I go by a home that has them, I really start getting plans in my head about the flowers I could plant that would match all of the flowers and herbs I have in my gardens, especially out in the front court yard. I think it would be a perfect accent to what I already have growing now. Not to mention that I could make more use of color against the siding of the house.

Window flower boxes would be an excellent touch to the atmosphere also. I could have the windows open and then smell the fragrant scent of the flowers and herbs I plan on planting in them. I’ve done a lot of planning on this and even my husband is in agreement that they would make a nice “finishing touch” on the home.

Crash and ouch

I have cookies in the oven and I heard a giant crash. Someone slid on the ice, took out my mailbox and since I have a lot of stone field rocks lining my front yard and the drive way…not little ones, either… they had to have hit them also. There is no doubt it messed up their car or truck to the big time. Those rocks are solid and have been there for nearly 14 years. Some are too big to be moved by anything less than a crane. I wonder what the underside of the car or truck that hit my property looks like. Not to mention if they hit the mailbox and rocks head on!

Kids and Christmas

After fighting the shoppers tonight, I came home really bummed and not in a good mood. I walked in the door and there stood the Christmas tree, in all it’s glory! My son helped my daughter put it up and my daughter decorated it. It’s breathtakingly beautiful! I didn’t think a small “Charlie Brown” artificial tree could fill out and be as beautiful as this. I guess my son hung it up, so to speak after it was put together, and my daughter finished the rest. Thank  you Viney Girl! It’s beautiful and I love it!!

Grocery Shopping Hassle

Something tells me that I wish I could hire someone to do my grocery shopping for me. I’m the kind of person who loves to cook, but hates going shopping for something to cook. No matter how many coupons I clip, or lists I make, I end up forgetting them at home and then winging it once I get to the market. Since I’m going to be away this weekend, “my guys” informed me that, there is nothing to eat in the house. This of course is not true. There is. But that would mean they would have to (horrors) defrost something to cook. I think I just might grab a few pizzas for their supper tonight and get some items to make tacos for tomorrow. I’ll tell them to free for all it on Sunday. I really hate to grocery shop.

The comfort and style of scrubs

After previously working in the medical field I got used to wearing scrub sets every day. Even now that I no longer work in the hospital, I still will wear them around the house, because to me they are comfortable and actually feel like an old friend, since they were my main attire for years. Even my daughters like to borrow my tops now and then because of the comfort of them.

My oldest daughter will soon be going back into the medical field herself, and I told her that she could have my newer scrubs but since I’m very short, I knew the pants would be way too short of her. I decide to surprise her with some sets of scrubs from http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/ who carries a great line of medical field clothes. I’ve had many people reccomend this company, and from what I have heard, the price is great and also the styles are really nice looking. It’s not like the old days, when scrubs were the basic blue or green. Now there are different prints and colors to choose from.

My daughter is going to also need a few white lab coats also, so for a surprise gift I’ll be buying her those. She isn’t expecting it, and was sort of worried about her finances, so this will be something she doesn’t have to fret about. She’ll have new clothes to work in and I’m proud of her for getting her new job!

Driving test

My youngest daughter will be going to take her driving test after school today. She doesn’t seem nervous about it, but with her it’s kind of hard to tell. I’ve been taking her out on back roads and country roads to practice even before she was 16. I did this for all my kids as a precaution just in case something happened to me and they needed to drive in an emergency. I learned when I was nine years old because of living on a farm. My daughter does well on the country roads, but I’m concerned since she hasn’t driven much in town, which is no doubt where she’ll be driving. Her dad has taken her driving in town, but he isn’t the most patient person when it comes to teaching someone things like that. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for my “little girl” in hopes that she passes her test.

Going “Home”

My daughter and I are going to go out of state this evening to visit my Mom. I was going every other weekend, to help her with things that she needed done around the house, and to just visit. Lately though, there has been so much happening around here, that I haven’t been able to make it down there and it’s been bumming us both out. Her house I will always consider home, even though I have my own house. It’ll be nice to relax in my room there, and also spend time with Mom. 🙂
