Raking leftover leaves

It finally warmed up and dried out enough outside to finish raking all the leftover leaves in the yard. A few years ago, it used to be my kids who loved to jump and play in the big piles of leaves. This afternoon I finished raking and went inside to get a cup of tea. I heard my dog barking out in front. When I went to the door, there he was having the time of his life jumping and rolling in the leaves, then barking when the leaves blew into the driveway. I wish I would have videoed it. He’s so darn strange sometimes!

Migraines or what

Lately I’ve been getting terrible headaches. I seldom ever got headaches, let alone ones that others have described as migraines. But for about two months now, I’ve had headaches that put me right to bed for hours on end. I had some tests done last week and haven’t heard anything yet. Hopefully the doctor will figure out what is happening.

It snowed

Looking out the widow this morning, since it was dark still, I had to turn on the flood lights to make sure my eyes weren’t still sort of sleepy. They weren’t. I had snowed last night. Not much, but enough to cover up the grass. It melted by about ten o’clock, and actually wasn’t very cold out at all. I walked into the back yard and actually found dandelions in the yard. Still bright yellow and not frosted or hurt by the snow. Rather odd to me, but pretty cool too!

I’ve decided to start adding some of the recipes I’ve made up that have turned out really well. I do have a taste tester in my oldest son, but well…some of the things I come up with don’t look the greatest, but the flavor is awesome. So, these will be recipes that anyone can do. I just don’t measure much. :S So bear with me.

The temps are dropping

And I’m not a happy camper. When my husband actually wears a zip up hoodie, it means he is cold. It also means, I am FREEZING. Usually my husband wears a t~shirt that is cut off at the neck and has no sleeves. His body heat amazes me. But, I’m cold. Did I mention the time change messes with me also?

Creating our color blocked bathroom

Guest post written by Monica Reeves

I like to think that one of the best parts of a home is a bathroom. Besides, it’s something that you have to use, so you might as well make that room really nice. It’s little luxuries like that that make a house really a home, or at least in my opinion. So in following with my own thinking, I thought that it would be good to try and make our bathroom a little more interesting.

I love looking at all kinds of fun interior blogs and when I was doing that to get some good bathroom inspiration, I ran across some info on SEARS Home Improvement. After I looked through it a little bit,  I decided to use them to redo our kitchen, which is something that we’ve wanted to do for a while now too.

I found all kinds of inspiration and settled on color blocking the bathroom with some paint and strategically placed colorful vases. Just because you have to do your business in a bathroom doesn’t mean that you have to make it boring and ho hum.

Snow is coming

After letting my dog out this morning, I noticed that the ground wasn’t just covered with frost. It must have snowed sometime during the night. I’ve definitely got to get ready for the next snow to come. My dog loves the snow. He would rather be outside in the winter, than inside. Crazy dog.

Singer in the family

My youngest daughter who just turned 18,  is a senior in high school and has been in the school choir for four years. She was picked to sing two solos in the Christmas program and also to basically carry the choir for it. I’m so proud. I know she is my daughter and all moms think their daughters are great at what they do. My daughter though, is an exceptional singer and to be honest, I know it doesn’t come from me. Oh, I can sing when I want to and also used to be in the school choir eons ago, but her voice is beautiful. I can’t wait to see the program and hear her sing!

Busy days

It’s time to pack away all the summer and semi fall things and get out the winter items that I’m sure we will be needing sooner than we all think. I’ve been shopping for various items to “survive” this winter, and stocking up on food stuff that can be heated up in a few minutes. That, I’m not really worried too much about, since I have a gas stove and oven. Still, if the power goes out it will be easier to cook simple things. Needless to say, I hate the winters here but they indeed come and it’s better to be prepared.
