Dog Days of Summer

They say that the really hot and humid days at the end of July and first part of August are called the “Dog Days.” I think that is because on really hot days, the dogs all just lay out and don’t do much except pant with their tongues. That’s about all I fell like doing today, too. When the temperatures are in the 90’s, there’s no breeze, and the humidity feels like your bathroom after you step out of the shower – those are dog days, in my book.

Disposable Vacuums

Wanted to vacuum the house and get all my housework done tonight so I can relax this weekend. But the doggone vacuum won’t turn on. It just clicks and nothing happens. It was just a cheap $80 vacuum from K Mart, but I thought I would get at least a year of use out of it.

I don’t think Glen can do anything with it and I need a vacuum, so I guess that goes on the list of errands and there goes another $80.

Hurry Up

alwayslate

I can’t understand why Glen is ready to go to work in just about 10 minutes worth of bathroom time and a couple more minutes to gulp down some coffee and cereal. But it takes me almost an hour each day to get ready. I know I am not a morning person, but I just cannot seem to move fast when it comes to my shower, and fixing my hair, and putting on makeup, and finding clothes that look good, and feeding the cat and forget about breakfast! I’ll get something on my drive in to the office!

Call Me

I could not find my cell phone today after I got home from work. I was really starting to freak out. I always keep it in a special pouch on my purse and it is not there. It is not inside my pruse anywhere. I checked my ar and cannot find it there, either. When Glen gets home I will have to ask him to call my phone and try to find it if I can hear the ring when he calls. I sure hope he gets here soon – I am freaking!

April Showers

We have had a lot of rain this Spring. I am starting to feel soggy from all this rain every day. I think we have had twice as much as normal. All of the creeks are flooded and even the big dam has flooded up the lake shore beyond the park benches.

I’m sure this problem is making it tough on the farmers – they can’t plant the seeds for their crops and risk having the seeds all drown in all this water. They can’t even plow – the fields are nothing but mud. It will be a short growing season for our local vegetables this year.

Easter Candies

jellybeans

Even if you are not very religious you can still enjoy Easter. Anyone can have an Easter egg hunt and enjoy a special Easter brunch or dinner. I like the candies, especially jelly beans!

Date Night

Even though we are a couple and have been together for over 2 years, we still have date night. I like to celebrate the end of the work week and wind down on Friday night by going out to dinner and then watching a movie or going to club to listen to music for a few hours.

Tonight we are going to the comedy club and have a few laughs. You don’t want to eat dinner at the comedy club – all they have is burgers and chicken nuggets. I think we’ll probably stop by Appleby’s on the way over and get some decent food before the show.

Redskins Finally Kick some Butt

Too bad that the Redskins didn’t play like this earlier in the season. The Eagles did not go home happy at all after letting the Redskins kick them to the curb they way they did in Redskin’s home territory. And that is the funny part, the Redskins usually don’t defend themselves worth a nickel when they play at home, strange things do happen.

All in all it was a great game, down to the last second.

A Hot Tub for Christmas

It would be so cool to have a hot tub in the back yard, one not too far from the back door so that the walk in the cold weather would be tolerable enough. There is nothing better than soaking in a huge tub of hot water, and hot tubbing during the cold weather months is so wonderful, when it snows, it’s the best ever.

A Hot Tub for Christmas would be a nice gift, but alas I’m afraid this is something that I am going to have to sacrifice for and finance myself, bummer. A girl can dream can’t she?
