All for it

One of the things that I like about my job is that I have many opportunities to expand my horizons. I am able to think of new ways to build the companies image and increase our market base. There are many ways to do this and one of the best ways is to get your companies name out to the public. This is a crucial part of the plan.

We recently started doing trade shows. We invested in trade show flooring that has our name as well as our logo on it. It’s a great way to make people feel comfortable with our products. We also purchased logo mats that let people know who we are as soon as they step in the door. It has paid off in a big way. People like knowing who they are dealing with and making your name familiar is a good thing to do.

Another thing we have tried is to purchase a logo canopy to attract people from a long distance. This has worked very well in general and has brought us some business from those who would have normally turned in a different direction. All in all, we are very happy with the results from our newest venture. Business is business and we are all for that.

Flying cars

One thing that has captured man’s imagination for the better part of this century is the possibility of cars that fly. I think it would be a great idea. Imagine not having to deal with traffic and getting home in record time. It would be a great invention.

The good news is that this dream is closer than ever. Flying car prototypes are becoming ever more commonplace and are getting closer to the dream than ever before. I hope that inventors will perfect their dreams and make flying cars a reality.

Keeping things dry

Since the weather has changed from winter to spring, we have been getting a lot more rain. Normally, you would think that winter was wet but we have had a very dry year. The spring however has been very wet. That’s why I have decided to invest in some tarps in order to keep things dry. I know it will payoff in the end.

The first thing that I wanted to protect was my boat. I paid a fair portion of money for it and I want to keep it out of the weather. I went online in order to find a one of the canvas tarps that would do the trick. I feel much better at night knowing that my assets are being protected from everything that Mother Nature can throw at it.

Since one of my pet projects is to get my old truck running, I have decided that I should cover that until I can complete that project. My truck has been sitting out back getting rusty and I want a truck tarp to keep it safe until I can complete the project. There are many times when spending a little extra now will save you a lot of money later and I feel that this is one of those times.

Oil speculation

One issue that is in the news lately is the possibility that oil speculators are responsible for the high oil price s that has hit the American consumers lately. I believe this is very true and I want something done about it. I am tired of paying top dollar prices at the pump for a product that is clearly abundant.

Oil is everywhere and there are many countries producing it. When one country decides to cut production, another one will fill in the void. It is oil speculation that is driving up the price. Our government needs to take steps to prevent these actions and bring sanity back into the markets.

St Patrick’s Day

It was one heck of a parade we saw yesterday. We went to Norfolk, Virginia to see the annual parade they have there. I had a great time watching all the bands and people going by. My favorites were the little cars that do tricks as they go by and the baton twirlers. . It was a great day.

We met some friends of mine while we were there and we all ganged up together and had quite a time. We went to the park afterwards and had a grand cookout. I love holidays like this and it was well worth all the time.

The president’s role

It seems that every time I go to get some gas at the gas station, the price has risen a few more cents. It is making things tough for me as I rely on my car for many things. I need to get back and forth from work as well as do my daily errands at this store or that. Many people blame the president for not doing enough to lower these prices.

I for one do not blame the president for this mess. I believe that those in the stock and futures markets are to blame. These Nervous Nellies are always worried about supplies getting low. I do not believe this will happen. When one country has a problem with supply, others will take up the slack. That is just my opinion.

Divorced

When I got divorced three months ago, I had no idea how much of our finances were handled by my ex husband. He paid the bills from the day we got married to the day we got divorced. I asked him to help me get things set up financially before our divorce was final, and thank goodness he did. He told me that he had just set us up for fixed-rate energy. You can click here to see what he set up. I even had to learn how to do online bill pay when we got separate bank accounts because I had never paid a bill online. I guess I was pretty dependent on my husband for handling our finances. I never really had to be solely financially responsible. When I had a roommate in college, she paid all of our bills for our apartment and told me how much I owed her each month. I would write her a lump check and be done with it. When I married my husband, he insisted on handling all of the finances and I was relieved not to have to handle them. I guess I will have to get used to handling all of the finances now that I am on my own.

Claimed or not

The government has a long memory in many cases. You would be surprised how much information they have on the average citizen. This info is written down somewhere and it can come back to haunt you when it is brought to light. There are other times however when you can do well just by knowing the truth.

The truth is that many people have money owed to them by the government. Unclaimed tax refunds are one area where the government owes out a lot of bills. I believe that those who don’t always file their taxes should check out the situation and see if they are owed money. It could be a very good day for some.

A look at bulletin boards

The office I work in is very large. That has a down side as you might not see all the people you want to on a daily basis but it also has an upside. If you have a hobby that you like to share with others, you can always find someone who is interested in what you are doing. The problem is finding that person. That’s why we have installed enclosed bulletin boards in the break rooms of our office.

It’s nice to read all the different things that people put up. The enclosed cork bulletin boards are very nice as you can easily pin up a note about whatever you want. It might be a notice of someone’s birthday or a fishing trip that will be scheduled for the next weekend. Of course there are always a few comic strips about working in an office, but that is to be expected. A little humor never hurts anyone if it is in good taste.

The hallways of our office need to be a bit fancier. We have customers who come through there and we want the place to look nice. That’s why we use enclosed fabric bulletin boards in those areas. They are usually a bit more formal than the ones in the break room, but they serve an important service as well. The whole project is working well so far and we hope to have more good ideas like this.

Beware of scams

Every morning when I get to work, the first thing I do is check my emails. Sometimes I have as many as thirty or forty of them. It takes a little time but I start to get the idea of what is going on with the company. Of course I also get quite a bit of junk e-mails that I just delete. The problem can be telling apart the good ones from the bad.

Some e-mails are obviously junk, but on occasion a very well written e-mail can fool even the best of us into thinking that it’s real. This is how people who are up to no good take advantage of innocent victims. I just wanted to remind everyone to be careful of what you are doing when dealing with unknown sites. It can save you a lot of trouble in the end.
