4th of July

We had a great Fourth of July this year. We decided that we would go to the beach to watch the fireworks and it was a great time for all. The kids were happy to play on the beach and they made some sandcastles that would rival the best ever made. It was fun to watch them at their work.

The fireworks went off at a little after nine and it was a really nice show. The event lasted for about forty-five minutes and had a great finally. After all the fun and excitement we were all tired and ready to get home. I guess that’s the way it should always be.

Birthdays

I just wanted everyone to know that today is the birthday of my brother’s latest girlfriend Heather. Her age is undisclosed as of now but it is generally believed that she is somewhere in her forties.

We plan to have a wonderful surprise for her tonight when she gets home. We have balloons and presents galore for her. We are all hoping that she will become part of the family soon.

Earth day

Today many Americans will celebrate Earth Day which is now in its 42 year. The day is all about bringing attention to environmental problems such as pollution, climate change, and finding ways to save energy.

After a little research we have found that there are many ways for every American to help out. Shutting off unused lights and installing energy –saving bulbs is one. Ensuring that your house is properly insulated is another. I hope everyone will take a minute to see what you can do to help.

St Patrick’s Day

It was one heck of a parade we saw yesterday. We went to Norfolk, Virginia to see the annual parade they have there. I had a great time watching all the bands and people going by. My favorites were the little cars that do tricks as they go by and the baton twirlers. . It was a great day.

We met some friends of mine while we were there and we all ganged up together and had quite a time. We went to the park afterwards and had a grand cookout. I love holidays like this and it was well worth all the time.

Snacks for all

The super bowl is finally here. I have invited some of my closest friends over to watch the game with me. I have several that have already said they will attend. We plan to have plenty of food ready for everyone. I know they will enjoy that.

The game is always great and the half-time show should be enjoyable as well. It is always a good time for all. My house will be full and it is great to have company. This is a great land.

Think of her

With one of the most special days of the year approaching for any of the ladies out there, we guys need to think ahead. Everybody knows that the way to a mans heart is through his stomach, the way to a woman’s heart is buy buying her gifts. With Valentines Day fast approaching, we men really need to start thinking about what to get for that special lady in our life.

One gift that never seems to go wrong is candy. Everybody knows that chocolates and other delicious treats agree with every girl. Why not send flowers you ask, because you can’t eat them that’s why. The only problem a man has is deciding where to get the best deal for the lady he wants to impress. I have an answer for that.

When Valentines Day draws near, I always check out one of my favorite sites. This is where I can purchase See’s candies and come out smelling like a rose. They have a large selection of products to fit nearly everybody’s taste. You are sure to find the perfect gift for her there. This is also a great place to find gifts for other times of the year such as Christmas, weddings, and birthdays. I am sure you will thank me for this great advice.

What to do

As always I hate to admit that there were some presents I received that were not wanted. I never have the heart to tell the ones I love that the gift that they gave me is either unneeded or just plain lame. It is always a conundrum for me. The problem is that I hate to see their gift go to waste.

I have managed to return some of the gifts without anyone knowing about it. This is good as I have kept the peace in the family. The bad part is that I still have a few gifts that I don’t know what to do with. I guess I’ll figure it out in the end.

Ringing in the New Year with all of my loved ones

Guest post written by Cynthia Reynolds

It seems like the past couple of years we’ve had a lot of trouble getting the family together for New Year’s. We used to have these big parties when the kids were much younger, but they’ve all been doing their own thing in the recent past. So I planned months ago for us to host a little party at our house and have the kids invite some of their friends. They seemed receptive to it so that’s what we’re doing.

I’ve been planning out every single detail that I can find. While I was online looking up some of that stuff, I ran across the website miracle-ear.com. After I looked through it a little bit I decided to go and get fitted with some hearing aids.

I have found all kinds of neat ideas, including some games for the younger kids to play. It can be tough to keep kids occupied at things like that, but I’m really going to try and make sure that everyone has as good of a time as possible when they come to the party.

Another Christmas morning

The mood is good around our house today. It took a little longer to get everyone up than I expected, but we finally started to unwrap the presents. After all the small talk and comparisons of our gifts, I think that everyone is happy with their gifts. I got the usual pants, ties, and belts and everyone got their usual toys and electronics.

Soon we will all gather in the kitchen and start the typical Christmas meal. We are having turkey with all the trimmings and my favorite deviled eggs. We are blessed this year as everyone is healthy and were able to gather at the house. We got some phone calls from those who were not able to attend. I hope your Christmas was as pleasant as ours and I wish you a merry day.

Scare tactics

This is the time of the year when the local kids will get their payback. After listening to all their noise over the summer, I am looking forward to giving them a scare when Halloween comes. I have a few tricks planned for them.

My garage holds many boxes that are filled to the brim with scary items. I plan to spend part of this weekend sorting it out and getting it ready to put out. I just want the kids to know that if they want my treats, they will have to get some of my tricks!
