Pictures from Christmas Angels

Well I got the disposable cameras back from all of the families my Christmas Angel Tree gave gifts to yesterday and took them to a one hour photo place.  The pictures were wonderful, most of them anyway.  I decided to put them on my computer and try and crop some of them and see if I could clear some of them up but my computer started giving me all sorts of photoshop errors. Now when it comes to things like that, I’m lost.  I don’t know a darn thing about fixing errors like that or any kind of error message as far as that is concerned.

Luckily I found a blog that told me what to do to resolve the problem.  It said that one reason why the Photoshop might fail to respond or give you an error message is if it is in conflict with any other program in the computer. I tried re-installing Photoshop since it said that can help to work out the problem the program could be having that makes it give the Photoshop not responding message.  That fixed the problem but if you try it and that doesn’t work for you, check out the blog because it has several ways to fix it.  I hope that helps you if you are having the same problem.

Plans in hand and materials on the property

Well I have the plans for my new project in my hands and all the rough in materials are on the property.  I have all the proper permits, the electrician has been contracted, the plumber and carpenters too.  I’m on a roll.  I found the best web site that helped me to find everyone that I needed to get this project started.  It still amazes me at just what you can find on the Internet.  Seek and ye shall find I guess, huh?

Now comes the fun part, picking out all of the lighting, the bathroom and kitchen fixtures, the kitchen appliances and cabinets, counter tops and boy do I have a lot to do.  I bet I can find everything I need right here online too.  First of all I’ll go by our local building supply store and get the prices on what I want.  That way I can shop around online and see if I can get it or something comparable to what I want any cheaper.

This is the bath tubs I want installed.  I have one similar myself in my bathroom.  What do you think?  I just love those claw and foot bath tubs with the old English telephone faucets.  I found this one at vintagetub.com.  They have some beautiful bath tubs on there.

The magic of the season

Christmas has long been a magical season and this year is no different.  The whole community has pitched in to help me with all the ‘Angels’ on my tree.  Some businesses have donated items.  Some businesses have offered jobs.  Some businesses have donated food, and there is even a celebrity, which I promised not to name, that has donated $100 to every family that has an Angel on my tree.  God has blessed this little tree in ways I never imagined.

I am so proud to live here in New Orleans.  I am so proud of the people of New Orleans as they have pulled together to see to it these families and mostly the children, will wake up Christmas morning to a wonderful surprise from Santa.  There are PSP’s, Game Boys, Wii’s, MP3 players, DVD players, TV’s, PS3’s, and more gadgets than I know what they are.  Guess I’m getting old when I don’t recognize some of the presents we’re giving out, ya think?

Oh well, I’ll know it’s the right thing with all the smiles.  Oh each family is getting a disposable camera that they are to bring back to me so I can get the pictures developed.  Of course I’ll get double prints and maybe more because I want a picture of the children’s faces, and I also want to send ‘Thank you’ notes to the many people that donated along with a picture of the smiling faces of the children they helped to make this Christmas special for.  Then of course, the parents need a copy of their pictures too.

I’m worse than the kids beacuse I can’t wait!!!!!!

Well here’s number 3

I told you that trouble comes in 3’s.  First my printer goes out, then my water heater needs a new heating element (thank goodness I didn’t have to replace the whole water heater) and now  I dropped my cell phone and didn’t realize it.  It came open and who do you think should step on it and break it?  You guessed it, it was me.

Thank goodness I had that insurance along with my  new phone from Verizon.  I started not to get it because I have gotten it for the last three phones I got from them and every time I’m up for a new phone, I would have it put on that one too.  I haven’t ever had to use it and I almost told them I didn’t want that this time.  Boy am I glad I forgot about it by the time I got there.  I had every intention of it too.

See sometimes it’s good to have those CRS moments.  You know what they are don’t you?  The ‘Can’t remember shit’ moments.  I have them all the time and that’s why man or probably a woman did it but that’s why sticky notes were invented!!!!!!!!!!

My darn printer went out

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because it’s not like it’s a new printer or anything like that but my darn printer went out.  In fact, now that I think of it, it’s been a pretty good printer because I’ve had it for about 9 years or so.  You know, it might be a good thing it went out too because now I can get one of those new and improved all in one type printers.

Do you know what I’m talking about?  One that is a copier, printer, scanner, fax machine and will even wash your dishes.  I’m kidding about the dish washing part but it could happen one day.  Anyway I was looking for a new one online and guess what I found?  I found a HP Photosmart C4580 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Copier.

I use my printer for making copies and printing pictures more than anything else but this is one of the best for the money.  I like saving money, especially this close to Christmas.  Of all the darn times for something to go out.  I wonder what’s next.  Things like this tend to run in 3’s you know.  Yeah it’s an old wives tale but it works too.  At least it tends to work for me anyway.

World recession

I can see every day how things are getting harder and harder for the average families to survive.  With the cost of just about everything going higher, the stock markets around the world going lower and lower, and jobs going away, it’s getting tough to simply survive financially.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Gordon Brown, announced that the world is going into a recession.  It didn’t take someone like him to tell me that but maybe it did others.  “Having taken action on the banking system, we must now take action on the global financial recession,” he said, speaking to Members of Parliament. “There will be a recession in America, France, Italy, Germany, Japan and – because no country can insulate itself from it – Britain too,” he continued.

I just hope that whoever is elected to be our next President has a good plan to help us here in our country.  We are well known for helping others when they are in need, well WE are in need this time and once we get our country back on solid ground, the rest of the world will follow.  Well, that’s my opinion and you can take for what it is, just my opinion.

Just messing around on the computer

I’ve been playing on the computer and found some really cute things.  I wasn’t looking for anything in particular, I was just looking.  I don’t spend a lot of time on the computer so there’s a lot about it I need to learn.  One cool site I found  was www.find.com.  I already knew about www.ask.com which most everyone knows about but I like find.com better.  I like the way it shows or points you to what ever it is you are looking for better.  Ask.com always gives me so many options that I end up losing what I was looking for in the first place.  Anyway, I didn’t know if you knew about them and I thought you might like it better too so give it a try and see what you think.  Like they say, seek and ye shall find.

We have problems

Stock markets around the world, particularly here, have fallen dramatically yet again today. This is because of what’s going on in the financial world.  Do I have to remind you about the bailout of  AIG by the Federal Reserve?

The British index, FTSE 100, dropped in value by 2.36%.  That’s 118.40 points, to below the 5000 mark at 4907.20. The Dow, well it  was down 2.62% and currently has a value of 10769.00 points. The Nasdaq index has fallen by 3.16% to 2138.14, while the Dax was 1.75% lower than the start of the day.  But the Japanese index, the Nikkei was one of the few to rise in value over the day. It ended up 1.2%, although this follows a large fall in the value of the index when it hit an all time low yesterday.

All of this spells “We have problems” and unfortunately, it’s not just in our country as you can see.  People all over the world are suffering right now.  I wish I understood more about the stock market than I do but I can understand ‘down’ and that means your money is going down instead of up which is what most people are shooting for in the stock market so it’s not good, not good at all.  That I understand.

Recycling

I told you I was big on recycling.  I was on the computer last night and found ‘The ultimate recycling guide’ on green.msn.com.  I found the whole article very interesting and enlightening.  People know all about recycling plastic, glass, and paper but there are far more recyclable items than I even realized.  I told you about recycling old cell phones, remember?  Well you should also recycle most any type of electronics including your TV’s because these items contain lead and mercury.  It is a great article and certainly opened my eyes.  Maybe you would find it interesting too.  Heck, you might even learn something too.

Gas prices keep going higher and higher

With gas rising by the minute sometimes, or so it seems, people are looking to purchase ‘hybrid’ vehicles.  They are coming out with some really nice ones but I don’t think people are really looking at what they are purchasing.  Sure they might get 2 or 5 miles per gallon than the ones that are not hybrid but how much more did you have to pay for it just because it is a ‘hybrid’?  The extra cost will buy a lot of gas, you know.  Why spend $5000 more to get just a few more miles per gallon when your extra payment for that hybrid would probably pay for that months gas to begin with?  We’re grasping at the wrong straws the government and auto manufacturers are throwing at us.  We need to be working harder on alternative sources of fuel and not a band aid over a broken arm.  If you want to see some of these cars, you can check them out at MSN Autos.
