Southern drink

In the south, tea is a tradition.  I have been drinking tea for as long as I can remember, hot or cold, day or night.  Some Southerners prefer Lousianne tea but for me it’s Lipton.

I love to find Lipton tea on sale and when I do, I usually pick up several boxes.  I love to save money.  I was going to make tea one day and for some reason, the tea bags just fell apart.  I had never had this happen before so I tried again, and the same thing happened.  There was one of those 800 numbers for the customer service department on the side of the box so I gave them a call.  I received a warm hearted apology and was sent several coupons in the mail for several free boxes of Lipton Tea Bags.  That’s what keeps Lipton as one of Americas favorites, good customer service.  Nice to see it’s still around.

Congress names names

How in the world did I miss this back in July?  I must have been really busy not to catch this but on July 9th the Congressional Democrats finally named names in the investigation of all those formaldehyde contaminated FEMA trailers they gave to Katrina and Rita survivors.  It’s about time Congress named names in something that has affected so many who were victims anyway and then victimized again by what appeared to be our own government.

These individuals should be sentenced to live in the same conditions they placed our good people in by having to move them into these trailors and forcing them to live there as long as the longest person had to stay in one of them.  An eye for an eye if you ask me.  Shame on them!!!!!

Gulf Stream Coach, Pilgrim International, Keystone RV and Forest River Inc. officials should all have to pay for any and all medical expenses for everyone that lived in one of their trailers.  These companies made a lot of money from the government and I hold them responsible for the whole situation as should the government but that my friends, is totally my opinion and mine alone.  Well that is unless some of you agree with me on this one.

Katrina Doctor cleared

I was just heart sick when I heard that Dr. Anna Pou had been charged with manslaughter.  This woman went above and beyond to keep her patients safe and to continue to care for them as did every single employee at the hospital.  They had to work under horrendous conditions and did what they could and had to do for these poor patients only to be accused of terrible wrong doing.

So where is the blame for the government officials that allowed these patients to remain in the hospital in the first place.  Our government mishandled most everything with Katrina.  Yet we are ready, willing, and able to send help to other countries that suffer from terrible tragedies similar to that of Katrina?  What is wrong with this picture?  We are still too busy trying to take care of the world at our own peoples expense.

Recycling

I told you I was big on recycling.  I was on the computer last night and found ‘The ultimate recycling guide’ on green.msn.com.  I found the whole article very interesting and enlightening.  People know all about recycling plastic, glass, and paper but there are far more recyclable items than I even realized.  I told you about recycling old cell phones, remember?  Well you should also recycle most any type of electronics including your TV’s because these items contain lead and mercury.  It is a great article and certainly opened my eyes.  Maybe you would find it interesting too.  Heck, you might even learn something too.

Brad and Angelina

Well Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have welcomed their twins into this world.  They have a new boy and girl to add to their family.  I don’t know if you are aware of how much Brad Pitt has done to help New Orleans but he has.  I’m just not real big on the fact that there has been offered a very large sum of money for the first photos of these babies.  Most parents have to pay for their babies first pictures and pay dearly at a time when money is probably rather tight but they will receive millions for pictures of the babies.  I just hope that money goes to something good and not just into their pockets.  It’s not like they need the money anyway.  I just feel that there is so much good that could be done in their children’s names if they wanted it to be so.

Gas prices keep going higher and higher

With gas rising by the minute sometimes, or so it seems, people are looking to purchase ‘hybrid’ vehicles.  They are coming out with some really nice ones but I don’t think people are really looking at what they are purchasing.  Sure they might get 2 or 5 miles per gallon than the ones that are not hybrid but how much more did you have to pay for it just because it is a ‘hybrid’?  The extra cost will buy a lot of gas, you know.  Why spend $5000 more to get just a few more miles per gallon when your extra payment for that hybrid would probably pay for that months gas to begin with?  We’re grasping at the wrong straws the government and auto manufacturers are throwing at us.  We need to be working harder on alternative sources of fuel and not a band aid over a broken arm.  If you want to see some of these cars, you can check them out at MSN Autos.

California fires

The poor people of California are suffering as much as the people of New Orleans and all the other towns of the south when Katrina hit.  Their plight is fire and not water as it was for us.  It’s a shame to see anyone in out country suffer in any way to me.  The one thing I have a problem with is once the fires are out, no one will mention the hard work and reconstruction it takes to bring some form of life back to these people that have lost everything.  No we should not dwell on the tragedy and should celebrate the triumph but all our news wants to show most of the time is the tragedy.  They need to update people on the hard work that goes into rebuilding.  But you know what, that is my opinion and there might not be many other people out there that agree with me but if you stop and think about it, you just might.

Strange ‘Mother’

I have been trying to avoid voicing my opinion on this so called ‘Man’ that gave birth.  This is not a man, this is a very confused individual.  Imagine how this poor little girl that ‘he’ gave birth to is going to react when she finds out her ‘Daddy’ gave birth to her.  Imagine her on the play ground and the other children learning who she is and who her ‘Mother/Father’ is.  This is a recipe for disaster if you ask me but no one really did.  Well no one other than every single person that steps foot into my establishment.  I just thing if this person wanted to be a man so bad, then SHE would have done away with everything that made her a woman but HE didn’t do that.  It needs to be on Dr. Phil because he’ll straighten it all out.

Puppy mills

When I was in college, my mother and I had a kennel and raised puppies.  We had about 75 breeder dogs.  It used to anger me quite a bit for people to refer to us as part of the puppy mills that you would see in the news.  I personally have been to a puppy mill and couldn’t stand what I saw.  There are reputable breeders out there and we were one of them.  The adult dogs and the puppies were cared for as you would your family pets by us.  So if you are looking for a puppy, buy one from a breeder that will let you see the parents and not keep you from seeing the conditions the breeders are living in.  In fact, before long I am going to be looking for a puppy myself and trust me, I will check out the kennel before I purchase my puppy.

Sorghum for fuel?

Oil prices are affecting everything in this day in time.  People have to do without some things they took for granted just last year so they can have the gas to go to work now.  The solution is not a simple one but I do believe that alternative sources of fuel are the key to help combat the ever rising price of gasoline.  I saw where they can use sorghum (which is what a lot of our ancestors used to make molasses) to produce a cheaper fuel.  This would also help keep food prices down and feed a lot of families.  I’m sure someone will find a way to poo-poo this like everything else to help bring down our dependence on oil.
