I’m getting a little wide!

As we age, us women for sure, tend to spread out a little here and there if you get what I’m saying.  My doctor told me that he was going to have to widen his doors if I kept gaining weight.  I didn’t find that very funny at all even though he did.  Yes I have put on about 25 pounds over the past couple of years but that’s not terrible.  It’s not good but it’s not terrible.

I have now learned about sleep and losing weight, your metabolism, and when you should not eat too.

Do you like to go camping?

I absolutely love camping.  In fact, I have a small RV that I always take when I visit friends so I won’t be in their way if you know what I mean.  I had been looking for RV Awnings because mine didn’t have one and they’re nice to have so you can sit outside and not burn up in the hot Texas or Louisiana sun.  I learned a long time ago that when I need something for my RV, I can usually find it on this web site.  They haven’t let me down yet and I can’t say that about every other place I have checked out either here or online.

I have a strange sense of humor

I thought these were the funniest comics I have seen in a long time.  I sure hope you get at least a smile from them.  There’s nothing better than passing on a smile, now is there?  Besides, it’s time for a little humor, don’t you think?

Friends

Far too many times we take our friends for granted.  No one should ever do that.  A true friend will be there when you need them even if it’s just to listen to you cry in the middle of the night because you lost your pet.  A true friend will also help you out if at all possible when you need them either with money or just a hug.  I am honored to say that I have many friends that I have accumulated throughout the many years of my life.

One of the most important things you can do for your friend is to let them know just what a difference they have made in your life.  In fact, you should do that to anyone that has touched your life.  You never know when they won’t be around anymore and the last thing you want is for them to leave this world without knowing they made a difference in your life so make sure to tell them today.  Tomorrow may be too late because we are only promised right now.  We never know when our time on this earth is through, do we?

Those were the days!!!

A friend of mine sent me this email and it’s amazing how much life has changed in just a few years.  You may have received this in your email too but just in case you didn’t, I wanted to share it with you.  It really shows how far we have progressed if that’s what you want to call it.  Sure some of the changes are for the better but most of them aren’t but that’s my opinion and you know what they say about opinions!!!

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s!!

  1. First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
  2. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn’t get tested for diabetes.
  3. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.
  4. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads..
  5. As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.
  6. Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
  7. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.
  8. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.
  9. We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren’t overweight. WHY? Because we were always outside playing…that’s why!
  10. We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
  11. No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K.
  12. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times,we learned to solve the problem.
  13. We did not have Playstations, Nintendo’s and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD’s, no surround-sound or CD’s, no cell phones, no person al computers, no Internet and no chat rooms. WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
  14. We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
  15. We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
  16. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
  17. We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.
  18. Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment.  Imagine that!!
  19. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
  20. These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
  21. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.

If YOU are one of them? CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.

Eat according to your blood type?

I was in a health food store the other day and they had books in there about eating according to your blood type.  I am type O blood so I sort of glanced through the book.  It seems that type O blood needs more meat and green vegetables than grains and even some fruits.  It breaks down which foods (by category) are most beneficial, neutral and which ones you should avoid.

According to this book by Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo, if you eat according to your blood type, you will be healthier, feel better and live longer.  Well since Joe and I both have a bit of high cholesterol, I bought the small book you can take with you to the grocery store and will probably end up getting the full size book to learn even more about this type of diet.

I’m always on the lookout for something to help  be healthier and stay that way and I really don’t think it would hurt to at least give it a try and see if this doctor is a quack or if he’s on to something.  I’ll keep you posted on how it goes.

Great Game System

Have you seen the new types of video game systems and games they have come out with lately? I’m sure you have unless you live under a rock or don’t have children. They actually make a kid get off his rear and move. Some of the kids of the people that work for me have a Nintendo Wii and an even better system has been born to get kids up and moving. The technology, graphics, and imagination that have gone into not only the system but also the games is mind boggling.

They are even starting to put them in Nursing homes to get the elderly moving. Heck I got one for myself to help me get my ‘girly figure’ back. Fat chance of that but it will help me feel better and I just might drop a few pounds too.

It’s going to be a girl!

My waitress that I told you was expecting is going to have a baby girl.   Isn’t that wonderful!  I can’t wait to have a baby girl around.  She was talking about different names and I told her she should check out this web site to find out what the names mean.  You wouldn’t want to name her something that meant something you didn’t like, ya know what I mean.

She also wondered about different things to do with being pregnant that I couldn’t answer so I recommended this web site to her again and even showed it to her on my computer.  I told her she was welcome to check it out anytime she had a question.  She’s such a sweet girl, in fact she’s the daughter I never had.

I lost a dear friend

I just found out that one of my closest friends is gone.  She passed away from an aneurysm she suffered at work yesterday.  How can this be?  She was healthy and full of life one second and gone the next.  God only promises us the here and now and nothing more and boy did that hit home yesterday.  With that in mind, we should love each other like there’s no tomorrow because there might not be.  We should tell each other just how much we mean to each other so that no one leaves your life without knowing how much they touched your life.

I still can’t believe she’s gone but I do have many wonderful memories that I find both pain and comfort in right now.  I know that these memories will keep them alive in my heart and mind and in time, they will be a source of pure joy without the pain.  Hold those near and dear to your close!!!

I wish they had this when I was younger

I never had any children and I’m not sure if it’s because I was unable to conceive or if I just didn’t know what I was doing, you know what I mean.  Oh I knew all too well how it was supposed to happen but it never did.  I just wish I had known about this web site when I was younger and I might have learned something about how to help conceive.  It’s possible.

Now that one of my waitresses is expecting, I get to learn more and more about the whole process of being pregnant.  There’s so much I don’t know about pregnancy that most people just take for granted unless you’re the one that’s expecting.  This is her first baby and she was asking me all sorts of questions like how long was she going to have morning sickness.  I don’t know why they call it ‘morning’ sickness when the poor girl is sick on and off all day.

She started asking me these questions because I’m sort of the ‘God Mother’ of all that work for me and I wanted to be able to answer them so I started doing some checking and that’s when I found all sorts of answers for her online.  Thanks to this web site, I can help her to know what just might help with the morning sickness.
