So much to consider

With a little one soon to be here, there is so very much to consider.  Safety is the first priority!  In my day, no one thought about the things they do today about child safety.  With the stairs that come from upstairs, child safety gates are a must.  Not to mention having baby gates installed at all of the places the baby does not need to be when it starts scooting around.  KidSafeInc.com has been one of the best resources for me as far as safety goes.

They not only will tell you all about safety, but also carry the products you are looking for like extra wide baby gates for wide openings, pressure gates for adjustable openings, pet gates and especially stairway gates. You just can’t be too careful, now can you?  Actually, I should have said, you have to be too careful when there’s a little one or even a pet around, don’t you think?

Baby will be here soon

I swear I’m having more fun buying things for this baby that will be here soon than I have had in years.  Sure I love to shop for myself but this is more fun than I imagined it would be.  Have you ever heard of Jellycat?  They have some of the cutest toys I have ever seen but then again, I never did so much shopping for a little one before either.  It’s about like having a present and waiting to unwrap it waiting for this little one.

Barefoot Dreams makes some of the cutest baby wraps and blankets you could ever imagine.  Let’s not forget the adorable cardigan and caps they have too.  If you’re looking for clothes, Appaman has perfect clothes for the little one too.  Their onesies are absolutely darling.  I had no idea just how much fun it would be buying baby things.  I sure missed out in my younger years = but not anymore.

This is good to know!!

A lot of kids have trouble with math.  One of my waitresses sons is one of those kids.  What he really needs is math help, you know, like a tutor. Tutors can be expensive though and this little lady is doing good to get by now.  As luck would have it, I found free math help online for the little fella.  No she does not have a computer but I sure do and would be glad to let him use it to better his math grades.  I had no idea that you could find online math tutoring but you can.

One of the great things about this online math tutor is they can help children from grades K-12.  Even college students can get online math help if they need it.   I once knew a lady that did reading tutoring and she charged $25 an hour.  That’s a lot of money for a tutor but that was also a long time ago.  It’s probably more like $50 an hour now I bet.  This is a great service for students and parents to have free online math tutoring if you ask me.  Our children need all the help they can get to have a good education after all.

Don’t you love to travel?

Throughout my lifetime, traveling is one of the things I have enjoyed the most.  I have been to Ireland, England, Japan and many more places but the one place I have yet to go is Egypt.  That has been a life long dream.  Why haven’t I been there before now?  That’s a good question so I checked into Egypt holidays to remedy that.  I was surprised just how affordable it was.  I expected to find out is was more than I could afford right now but a holiday in egypt is very reasonable.

All of the trips I’m looking at depart from the UK but that’s okay too because I can visit a cousin I have that lives there.  I could spend a little time with her and then head off for one of many holidays as they say in England.  Now I just have to decide exactly where in Egypt I want to travel.  There are a lot of resorts to choose from like Marsa Alam, Sharm el Sheikh, Luxor, Taba, Hurghada and El Gouna.  Marsa Alam, El Gouna, and Hurghada are all part of the Red Sea Diving holiday package.  That sounds lovely to me except for I’m not much into diving.  Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada both are part of just the Red Sea Holiday.  That suits me better.  They have beautiful beached on the Red Sea plus many Red Sea hotels offering luxury spa and health treatments.  That’s what I’m looking for.  Nothing like taking a holiday and coming home feeling alive and refreshed.  I’ll have to give one of them a try.

This is not good

A friend of mine just called me and told me that a guy he works with was sent home because it seems that he might have been exposed to the Swine Flu over the holiday weekend.  It seems that a little girl tested positive for it after the cookout he attended.  Now everyone that he works with is a bit worried.  I don’t know if he has to have the symptoms to pass it along or just be exposed to pass it along.  Something to think about though.

It’s almost September!!

Holy cow, I just realized that it’s almost September.  Before you know it, Christmas will be here again.  I better start looking for photo Christmas cards because I always send them out to my family, friends and favorite customers.  That’s the good thing about the Internet, you don’t have to wait until a certain time to start looking for seasonal things like Christmas Cards.  I love the selection they have at this company.  You are more likely to find something you really like here than any other web site I have found.  In fact, if you know of a better one, let me know.  The hard part for me is narrowing it down to just one style and one picture.

My niece is checking into a franchise

My niece lives here in New Orleans and has decided she wants to open her own business instead of just working for someone else.  She’s a smart cookie so I know what ever she goes after will do very well.  In fact, she’s been checking into a party supply franchise. How smart is that when she’s in the party capital of the world? Pretty darn smart if you ask me. Sure there are other stores that carry party supplies but she’s done her homework and found a franchise that is all over the world.

Party Land has been in business for 23 years so that’s a pretty darn good track record if you ask me.  There are a lot of businesses that haven’t made it nearly that long, even with franchises.  Why Party Land and why party supplies? Well with the economy off like it is, people everywhere are finding more and more reasons to celebrate. Not to mention that the birthday parties are being done at home now instead of somewhere else and people want to make those parties memorable and special.  I think she’s on to something if you ask me.  The more people find to celebrate and be with their families, the better I say!!

What difference does it make?

All you are hearing on the news or I guess I should say Entertainment shows is that everyone is wondering who is the father of Michael Jackson’s kids?  Well I’ll tell you who that is.  It’s Michael.  It doesn’t matter at all who is the biological father, that’s just DNA.  Michael was those children’s father from the time they were babies until he died and therefor, he’s their father.

There are some things that the media just needs to keep their noses out of and children’s lives and pain are one of the most important things they need to leave alone.  These beautiful children have lost their father and all anyone wants to do is talk about who really created these children.  God created them and gave them as a gift to Michael and he treated them as just that, a wonderful gift!!

Dating just ain’t what it used to be!

Back when I was a young lady, you would go to a local function, meet a guy, and he would maybe call you sometime through the week.  Now the only local functions there are it seems are at the unemployment office.  You can’t even go to church to meet someone.  Some of the young people here at work told me I needed to find someone to date or a new friend. I told them I have plenty of friends thank you very much.  Well it seems that’s not the kind of friends they meant.  I haven’t dated in years so what makes them think I would want to start now.

They even told me I needed to maybe check out an online dating service like Perfect Match.  Me go online to find a date?  They must be out of their minds but then they told me about eHarmony and how they really try to match you with someone that is right for you.  They said that there is even a dating site called Chemistry.com.   The best thing they told me was to check out the site where they tell you all about all of these sites so you can choose the one or two that you think you just might find Mr. Right.  Isn’t technology amazing?
