Stop that check!!

I found it very interesting to read about how the country of Great Britain is considering stopping the use of checks. It seems that boards of bankers think they are too expensive to clear and they favor cheaper ways of paying bills. They have set a preliminary date of 2018 for the complete stoppage of check clearing. There are some who are concerned though.

The elderly people tend to write more checks than any other age group. They are not always computer savvy and are set in their ways. Some businesses also want to continue their customer’s use of checks. Whatever happens, I am sure that sooner or later, the checks will be stopped.

It seems that the craze of texting has reached new heights. According to a study by the Pew Internet and American Life project, texting is now the most popular form of communication for teens. Girls lead the way with an average of 80 texts a day. Teens find that they can no longer live without their phones.

Teens favor texting as it can be done almost anywhere. They also enjoy the fact that messages are almost instantaneous. Many teens even sleep next to their phones. I guess this shows the differences between now and when I was growing up. I think technology is great, but we still need to keep an eye on what’s going on with our kids!

Fish Galore!

There was some good news for some American fisherman today when a group of experts announced that there were plenty of fish for everyone. Due to the new management systems that were put in place, fish stocks have risen and many species can withstand being caught in good numbers.

Overfishing is still a major problem for the rest of the world. Whether its whales or tuna, some species are in danger of being wiped out. Many countries rely on fish as a major food source and it would be nice if everyone could agree to limits that are acceptable as well as sustainable.

Happy 4th of July!!

Well, another year has rolled around and in a few days it will be time again to celebrate the 4th of July. This has always been one of my favorite holidays as I love to see the fireworks go off and explode in the sky! It’s also a great day to cookout and spend time with the family.

This year we plan to go watch the big fireworks display given at a local park. My only worry is that traffic will be bad and parking is always a problem. I hope we can find a good spot not to far away from the park. Anyway, I am sure we will have a good time as usual. I hope everyone else has a great time as well and remember to be safe!

Indian Elephants

The land of India is home to many endangered species. While the tiger is probably the most famous, the elephant is high on the list. Male Indian elephants have valuable ivory tusks. This has caused poachers to target them instead of females that don’t have them. The ratio of male elephants to female is in some cases as much as 100-1.

Another problem the elephants are facing is the growing loss of habitat. Development has interfered with their traditional traveling corridors. Efforts are under way to help the elephants through a variety of methods by the Indian government. I hope these efforts will work and these wonderful animals can be saved.

The House, Our Home

The wife and I have been working to fix up the old homestead. We have had a wonderful time working together on various projects around the house. This year, we have concentrated a lot of our effort on the outside of the house including getting our lawn and gardens into shape. We think that the outside of the house is just as important as the inside. We have worked hard to find ways to improve the view of the house from the street.

One thing we are really happy about is the addition of an address plaque. We put the plague by the street and surrounded it with plants. We also added some rocks and figurines around it. It looks great and makes it easy to find our house. We didn’t know about home address plaques before, but now that we do, we are glad to have found one that fits our style.

One of our neighbors commented on the plaque and asked for more information about it. I told him to get on the internet and type in address plaques and he would find a place to get one for himself. I am sure that over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be seeing one in front of his house as well. While I am sure that our house will never be perfect, I am glad that we made this one fine addition.

Good Vacations

There are a few times in life when you really get to enjoy yourself. I am planning to do just that when I go on vacation this year. I have been looking forward to this year’s vacation as it’s been so cold here lately. I am ready for some sunshine and green grass. That means staying at one of the Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Resorts that have all the amenities I need to enjoy myself.

One of my passions is the wonderful game of golf. I know where to go when I really want to play. I usually check in to a Myrtle Beach Resort in order to be close to the many courses that are in that area. The beach is one of my favorite places to visit when I’m ready to play a few rounds. The best part is that there are many other things to do at Myrtle Beach Resorts at any time.

No matter what time of year it is, the beach is always a fun place to visit. The sun and surf always put me in a good mood and I am able to relax. By staying at an Oceanfront Myrtle Beach resort, I ensure that I will be close to all the action on the beach. I enjoy the shopping as well as the nightlife. My vacation is very important to me and I am sure that I have made a good decision.

Great Jobs

There are many things I like about my job, but one of the best things is that I get to travel all over the country. The only problem with that is that it can be boring when you are stuck in a strange city with no-one to talk to. That’s why I was glad to find out about a site that can get you cheap seats. They were able to help me find tickets to some events like the New York Ranger Tickets I was able to purchase.

There was another time when I was able to find the hard to get Toyota Center Tickets so that I could view one of the WNBA games that was held that night. I certainly enjoyed that show and still remember it to this day. I had a great time and can’t wait to see the girls play again.

The best time I had was when I was able to score Ohio State Buckeyes Football Tickets. I got a great seat near the field and saw all the action. My friends were jealous and they all wished that they could come too. I guess that some jobs are better than others and I am glad that my job is a good one. I hope that you will take advantage of this great website whenever you are able to travel out of town!

Paying A Debt

Since the kids will be out of school in a couple of weeks, it’s time to pay off a debt. I had told my children that if they got good grades I would take them on a vacation to wherever they wanted to go. As you can imagine, the kids did their part and now its time to do mine. The only decision left was where to take them. It wasn’t long before I knew the answer when I saw their computer on a page about resorts in Myrtle Beach.

I have taken the kids there before and we had a great time. They both love the water and playing in the sandy beach. I also know that many of their friends have plans to visit the beach as well. It seems to be a popular destination for all the kids at their school. It’s also a great destination for adults as well. I was checking out their golf packages and was very impressed with the values I found there.

My wife is all for the idea as she enjoys the beaches as well. She likes to read her books while lying in the sun and working on her tan. She also likes to window shop along the many stores that are in the area. I found out she was looking online for more information about the area. I am sure that we will all have a good time on our vacation this year.

Happy Birthday to My Cousin

Birthdays are not a big deal to me. After all, once you hit 18 you have it all – so what’s the big deal now? But, in my family, we make a big deal out of birthdays. We always have a party on the actual day – my mom will not put off the party until the weekend or a convenient day – it HAS to be on your birthday.

So, I know that my cousin Monica is having her birthday today. And since she is out of town for the big convention,we can’t have her party tonight. I guess this time it will have to wait a few extra days.

So, sorry you are not here to celebrate, but hope you have a Happy Birthday anyway, Monica!
